Overview

HairTry is an AI tool for previewing hairstyles and hair colors on a personal photo. It is best suited to people who want to compare a specific look or explore ideas before a salon visit. Its broad set of preview options is useful, but paid credits expire, so it is less compelling for occasional use spread over time.

Key features

The service says its library has more than 1,000 hairstyles and adds more than 50 styles each month. Its AI analyzes more than 67 facial points to recommend hairstyles, giving users a way to narrow the choices rather than browse the library alone. Recommendations and generated images can help frame a salon conversation, but they are previews, not a promise of how a stylist will reproduce a look.

HairTry offers front, side, back and top views, plus 15 hair colors that include natural and bold shades. Those angles and color options make comparison more thorough than a single front-facing try-on. Users can also upload an inspiration photo to transfer a hairstyle to their selfie, or describe a style in words for the AI to generate. A reference image is a useful anchor; prompts allow broader exploration but depend on how clearly a user can describe the desired result.

Paid packs include custom views, personalized recommendations, social sharing and HD downloads. HairTry also offers ultra-HD output and watermark-free exports. These options suit users who want to save or share a polished preview, while the credit model means repeated experimentation consumes a finite allowance.

Photos and privacy

HairTry says uploaded photos are automatically deleted after 14 days and are not used for other purposes. Its privacy policy says facial data is not used to identify people, biometric recognition is not performed, and facial data is not shared with third parties. Registration may require an email address, city, gender and name. The stated deletion period is worth weighing for anyone uncomfortable uploading a personal image, even with those assurances.

Pricing

HairTry offers a free trial with all features and no credit card required, making it possible to explore the service before paying. The paid options are one-time credit purchases rather than monthly subscriptions:

Plan	Price	Credits and terms
Starter	4.99 USD per once	20 credits, valid for 60 days
Casual	12.99 USD per once	50 credits, valid for 60 days
Enthusiast	29.99 USD per once	120 credits, valid for 60 days

Each pack includes all hairstyles and colors, custom views, personalized recommendations, watermark-free results, 14 days of cloud storage, social sharing and HD downloads. Starter is the sensible choice for a small number of comparisons; Casual gives more room to iterate, while Enthusiast suits users expecting frequent exploration. The larger packs do not remove the 60-day expiry, so buy only as many credits as you expect to use within that window.

Platforms

HairTry is available on Android, iOS, macOS and the web. That range accommodates phone-based photo capture as well as desktop access. The first public release was April 16, 2025. Support is available at hairtry@designany.ai.

Who it's for

HairTry fits people who want to test several cuts or colors, work from a reference photo, or explore a look through a written prompt before speaking with a stylist. Its multiple views and watermark-free HD downloads also help users who want to keep or share their comparisons. It is a weaker fit for someone who wants occasional access over many months, since purchased credits expire after 60 days.

Pros and cons

Pros: Reference-photo transfer and written prompts give users more control than a preset-only try-on.
Pros: Four viewing angles and 15 colors support more detailed comparison before a salon visit.
Pros: The free trial includes all features and requires no card, reducing the commitment needed to evaluate it.
Cons: Purchased credits expire after 60 days, which can penalize sporadic users.
Cons: Uploaded photos remain in cloud storage for up to 14 days under the plan terms, a consideration for privacy-conscious users.

Alternatives

AI Hairstyle Generators is a useful starting point for readers who want to compare this category more broadly.

Choose HairHunt if a free try-on matters most: its free plan includes one watermark-free hairstyle try-on, and its subscription offers 200 credits monthly for 9.99 USD per month. Naee is an iOS-only option for users who prefer a free download and are comfortable with generations requiring a subscription or credit purchase; its five-credit pack is 3.99 EUR per once. The Right Hairstyles AI Hairstyle Changer offers one free watermark-free try-on and a 200-credit monthly subscription that can be cancelled anytime, making it worth considering for users seeking recurring credits.

AI Hair Color & Style may suit someone focused on a small number of color or style looks, with a free credit and a two-look purchase for 2.99 USD per once. Hair AI Salon is another Android and iOS alternative with initial free preview credits. Haristyle is an Android option offering four premium styles free. Pict.AI may suit users who want to try its web tools before moving to its mobile app, while Snipd is an iOS and web option with a free style quiz and some premium-only features.

Verdict

HairTry is a strong choice for anyone who wants several ways to shape a hairstyle preview, especially through a reference image, multiple angles or a written prompt. Its all-feature, no-card trial makes the first evaluation low commitment. The main reason to look elsewhere is the 60-day credit expiry: occasional users may get more from an alternative with a free try-on or recurring monthly credits.
