Overview

Harvest is time-tracking and invoicing software for professional teams, with ways to record work, manage approvals, and turn tracked time and expenses into invoices. It is strongest for teams that want time records and billing together; its free plan is too constrained for a growing team, and trial users should plan for the account to deactivate after 30 days unless they upgrade.

Harvest also covers project tracking, billable time, and data export. Its maker, Harvest, was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Milan, Italy. The product spans Time Tracking Software, Time and Expense Software, Employee Time Tracking Software, and Time Billing Software.

Key features

Recording work and billing it

One-click timers, timesheets, and calendar imports give teams several ways to capture time. Offline tracking is also supported, useful when work is recorded without a connection. Project tracking and billable-time support help connect hours to work that needs to be billed, and tracked time and expenses can feed invoices with online payments. That joined-up path is Harvest’s clearest advantage for service teams; readers looking only for time capture may not need the invoicing layer.

Administration and integrations

Timesheet approvals, permissions, capacity planning, roles, and rates provide controls for reviewing and coordinating team work. Harvest connects with accounting services including Stripe, QuickBooks Online, Xero, and Deel, alongside other integrations. Its integration count is presented as 40+ on the homepage and 50+ core integrations in pricing comparisons, so the breadth is substantial without implying every team will find its specific connection.

Paid team plans include scheduled phone support. Teams with 50+ seats can get a personalized consultation, a useful path for larger deployments considering fit and setup.

Pricing

Free and Teams

The Free plan costs $0 forever and is built for individual freelancers, with one seat and two projects. It is a reasonable way for one person to manage a small workload, but the seat and project caps make it unsuitable for a team or a broader project portfolio.

Teams costs $11.00 per month with monthly billing and unlimited seats. Annual billing is $108 per seat, billed annually, or $9.00 per month per seat; paying yearly gives a 20% discount. This is the practical choice for teams that need time tracking, analysis, and invoicing, though annual billing commits the per-seat charge for the year.

Enterprise and Enterprise Plus

Enterprise costs $17.50 per month with monthly billing, or $168 per seat billed annually ($14.00 per month). It is aimed at teams with advanced reporting and administrative needs, so the higher rate makes sense only when those capabilities matter beyond the Teams plan. Enterprise Plus has custom pricing for organizations needing a tailored setup, with custom integrations, product customization, a dedicated Customer Success Manager, custom onboarding and training, assisted data migration, and white labelling.

Teams monthly and Enterprise monthly include a 30-day free trial with no credit card required. If an account is not upgraded after 30 days, it is deactivated. Paid plans accept credit card monthly or yearly; yearly billing by ACH or bank transfer is available for 10+ seats. These terms make the trial low-friction, but not a continuing fallback after the month ends.

Platforms

Harvest is available on Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, and the web, with mobile apps for both major mobile platforms and a desktop app. That range suits teams recording time across phones and computers rather than relying on a single device type.

Who it's for

Harvest is best suited to professional teams that need timesheets and project-based time tracking tied directly to client billing, plus approvals and administrative controls. Freelancers can start on Free if one seat and two projects are enough. Teams that need more room must move to paid pricing, while organizations seeking tailored integrations, onboarding, migration, or white labelling should consider Enterprise Plus.

Pros and cons

Pro: Tracked time and expenses can flow into invoices with online payments, keeping time capture and billing in one workflow.
Pro: Approvals, roles, permissions, rates, and capacity planning give teams tools to manage submitted time and staffing.
Pro: Android, iOS, desktop, and web availability supports work across common device types, with offline tracking as an additional option.
Con: The free plan is capped at one seat and two projects, so it is only a narrow fit for individuals.
Con: The 30-day trial account deactivates unless upgraded, requiring a decision before trial access ends.
Con: Enterprise Plus uses custom pricing, so organizations cannot compare its cost from a fixed monthly rate.

Alternatives

Choose Jibble if unlimited users on its free plan and support for platforms including Linux, self-hosting, and API access are the priority; its free plan also includes two geofences and one work schedule.

TimeCamp is a better fit for teams seeking unlimited users and unlimited projects on a free plan, with Linux and self-hosted platform options.

Consider Toggl Track for manual and real-time timers on a free plan when its limited number of free users is acceptable.

Teamdeck may suit a startup that can work within a free plan for up to six team members, or a light member at $2.00 per month.

time cockpit is another time-tracking option, with a Freelancer plan at 10.85 EUR per month after the first year.

Choose todo.vu if a solo user wants unlimited tasks, clients, and projects on its free plan, alongside 1Gb storage.

WakaTime is the alternative for programming-focused tracking, with a free plan that includes one week of dashboard history, unlimited projects, and one programming goal.

Clockify is worth considering if a free plan for up to five users is more important than Harvest’s invoice workflow.

Verdict

Harvest is a strong choice for professional teams that want project time, approvals, and invoicing connected across mobile, desktop, and web. Its central reason to choose is the route from tracked time and expenses to invoices with online payment; look elsewhere if one seat and two projects are not enough and paid pricing or the 30-day trial terms do not fit.
