Overview

Hevy is a weight-training tracker for planning sessions, logging lifts and following progress on mobile or the web. It suits individual lifters who want detailed records alongside optional community features; free-plan limits and public-by-default profiles are the main cautions.

Workout records include sets, rest periods, notes and exercise history, while charts, personal records and one-rep-max calculations help put training changes in context. The community can add accountability, but it is not essential to the tracking tools. Hevy was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in Calonge i Sant Antoni, Spain.

Key features

Logging and planning

Routine planning, exercise notes and rest timers accompany support for warmup, drop and failure sets. Lifters can add custom exercises, and workout programming is adaptive. This makes Hevy more capable than a bare set counter, though the free plan's four-routine and seven-custom-exercise limits may constrain people who maintain several programs or specialized exercise lists.

Progress and community

Exercise charts, personal records, one-rep-max calculations and complete exercise history make it possible to review performance from several angles. Exercise videos add reference material, while the extensive library gives users a broad starting point. Users can follow athletes, comment on or like workouts, and save routines; that social layer is useful for people who want shared accountability, but unnecessary for lifters who prefer to train privately.

The web version supports routine creation and planning, progress analysis and viewing friends' workouts. Apple Watch and WearOS support includes workout tracking, routine syncing and offline workouts. Hevy can also automatically share gym workouts with Strava followers. Accounts are public by default, so users who do not want that exposure should enable a private profile and limit social features in Privacy & Social settings.

Pricing

Hevy is freemium, with a free plan and paid Pro options. The free tier is free and allows up to four routines, seven custom exercises and three months of graph history, with limited measurement tracking. It is a sensible starting point for lifters with a small routine set, but those caps can make long-term tracking or varied programming harder.

Free: Free. Includes the limits above.
PRO Monthly: 2.99 USD per month, billed monthly. Adds unlimited routines, custom exercises and graph history, unlimited measurement tracking, and Hevy Trainer.
PRO Yearly: 23.99 USD per year, billed yearly, with the same Pro features. It costs less over a year than twelve monthly payments, in exchange for annual billing.
PRO Lifetime: 74.99 USD per once, billed as a one-time payment, with the same Pro features. It avoids recurring billing, but requires the largest upfront payment.

A free trial is offered. Hevy Coach separately gives trainers a 30-day free trial; afterward, trainers can assign programs and review client performance through Hevy.

Platforms

Hevy is available on Android, iOS and the web. Apple Watch and WearOS support extends tracking to wearables, including offline workouts and routine syncing. The web interface is useful for planning and reviewing progress on a larger screen, while mobile and watch support cover workout recording.

Who it's for

Hevy is a strong fit for individual strength trainees who want structured workout logs, progress analytics and the option to share training with a community. Pro is more suitable for people who need many routines, custom exercises, longer graph history or fuller measurement tracking. Coaches may find Hevy Coach relevant for assigning programs and reviewing client performance, while lifters who want private-by-default social settings should adjust their profile before using community features.

Pros and cons

Pros: Detailed set logging, rest timers and notes capture more session context than basic workout records.
Pros: Charts, personal records, one-rep-max calculations and complete exercise history support ongoing progress review.
Pros: Web, Apple Watch and WearOS support give users options beyond a phone-only workflow.
Cons: Free users are capped at four routines, seven custom exercises and three months of graph history.
Cons: Profiles are public by default, which makes a privacy-settings change important for users who do not want social visibility.

Alternatives

For a broad comparison, see Fitness Workout Tracking Software.

TrainingPeaks is another freemium option, with a free Basic athlete account and a Premium athlete plan at 19.95 USD per month. Consider it if its broader platform availability, including macOS and Windows, better fits your setup.
Final Surge offers a free Personal plan with athlete features, connected app and device sync, stats and analysis across web and mobile. Consider it if those sync and analysis tools are the priority.
Garmin Connect keeps existing features and data free, with a Garmin Connect+ monthly plan at 6.99 USD per month. It is an alternative for people comparing a free fitness platform with an optional paid tier.
My PT Hub is an alternative for readers considering a trainer-oriented platform.
ABC Trainerize is another option for readers comparing coaching platforms.
Alpha Progression has a free plan with unlimited workout logging, own plans, 795 exercises with video, body measurements and data export; its plan generator, recommendations and charts are excluded from that tier. Consider it if those free logging and export features suit your needs.
Boostcamp offers a free tracker and custom program builder, plus most of its 130+ coach-designed programs. Consider it if choosing from coach-designed programs is central to your training.
MyFitnessPal has a free plan for food and exercise logging, recipes, measurements and partner app connections. It is the alternative to consider when food logging is part of the decision.

Verdict

Choose Hevy if you want a focused strength-training log with useful progress analytics, wearable support and an optional social layer. Its free tier is a practical entry point, but routine, custom-exercise and history caps make Pro the better fit for sustained, varied tracking. Look elsewhere if public-by-default profiles are a poor match or if your priority is a broader coaching or food-logging platform.
