Overview

HeyHub Student is a student-accommodation platform that brings resident communication, community and practical services into a shared digital environment. It is best suited to operators with larger sites that want those functions alongside an on-site marketplace. The breadth is a strength, but the recommended deployment scale and site-based custom pricing make it less compelling for smaller properties seeking a straightforward, low-cost option.

Key features

Residents can connect through location-aware communities, interest matching, profiles, group chats, hangouts and direct messages. Events, staff broadcasts, polls and surveys add ways to share information and encourage participation. This combination suits operators aiming to support both social connection and routine communication, though it should not be mistaken for active conversation moderation: HeyHub does not monitor in-app conversations, and reported misconduct is reviewed by the partner team.

Facility tools cover maintenance and wellbeing reports, keyless entry, concierge contact, room booking and mail or package alerts. The app also supports online rent payments, amenity booking, package tracking and resident service requests. Keeping these tasks together can reduce the number of separate channels residents need to navigate.

The Marketplace adds food and drink ordering, retail purchases, discounts, table ordering, card payments and on-site job opportunities. Transactions use PayPal or Stripe; HeyHub says it does not hold partner payments. Operators should consider whether this payment arrangement fits their own processes.

HeyHub says it can connect with CRM, property-management and access-control systems, and that integrations are possible through an open API. The standard license excludes integrations and bespoke development, however, so sites requiring custom connections should account for additional project scope. Partners receive a designated account manager and access to a customer-service portal monitored daily. HeyHub states that it is GDPR compliant and works to reduce data-security breach risk.

Pricing

The free Free test plan is free and includes HeyHub Community and HeyHub Facility modules, plus colleagues; no credit card is required. It offers a way to assess those modules, but does not include the full sector-specific license described for paid deployments.

The HeyHub sector-specific license uses custom pricing: residential sites are priced per unit, commercial sites per square foot, and mixed-use sites after a site review. Integrations and bespoke development are outside the standard license. The model ties cost to the property rather than a simple published subscription, so operators should obtain a site-specific quote and clarify any implementation needs.

HeyHub offers pilot schemes lasting 6 to 12 months, with duration based on partner requirements and HeyHub recommendations. After products and features are finalised, launch is estimated at approximately 8–10 weeks; bespoke development or multiple integrations may extend that timeline.

Platforms

HeyHub Student is available on Android, iOS and the web. The resident mobile app supports two-way messaging, online rent payments, amenity booking, package tracking and service requests.

Who it's for

HeyHub typically recommends at least 150 units or 50,000 square feet for an impactful deployment, with exceptions considered case by case. It is therefore a stronger fit for established student-accommodation operators looking to combine resident engagement, facility services and marketplace activity than for small properties with limited needs. Operators should also be prepared to evaluate integration scope and the partner-team role in reviewing misconduct reports.

Pros and cons

Pros: Community, communication, facility services and marketplace functions sit in one platform, giving operators a broad set of resident-facing tools.
Pros: The free test requires no credit card, and 6–12 month pilots provide a defined way to assess a deployment.
Pros: Account-manager support and a daily-monitored customer-service portal give partners dedicated support channels.
Cons: HeyHub recommends a substantial site scale, which may put the platform beyond the needs of smaller properties.
Cons: Paid pricing is custom and site-based, while integrations and bespoke development are excluded from the standard license.
Cons: HeyHub does not monitor in-app conversations; reported misconduct goes to the partner team for review.

Alternatives

Property Management Resident Experience Software is a useful place to compare resident-experience options across the category.

Choose Quiltt if a free plan with unlimited users, a web admin portal, community mobile app and activity calendar is the priority. Flamingo may suit operators focused on resident events, event management and engagement analytics, with a free marketplace plan. Consider GoAmenity as another paid option with a free trial.

MyCoridor offers a free trial and a Basic plan for up to 50 units, making it a relevant option for smaller properties. hoa.to is another paid platform with a free trial and a self-managed per-unit plan. Linked Senior, Bilt Hospitality for Housing and K4Community are further options to consider.

Verdict

HeyHub Student is a strong candidate for larger student-accommodation operators that want community, operational services and marketplace functions in one platform. Its breadth and partner support are the main reasons to choose it; custom site-based pricing, possible integration work and the lack of in-app monitoring are the main reasons to look elsewhere.
