Overview

Founded in 2013, Resume.io combines a resume builder, cover-letter builder, resume import, and AI writing tools. Its 30 templates include ATS-friendly and professional designs alongside simple, modern, creative, and two-column options. The range supports different application styles, though the web-only format will not suit people who need a mobile app.

Key features

Templates and customization

Users can change colors, add photos, and adjust line spacing. ATS-friendly designs are a practical choice for applicants who want a conventional layout; more expressive templates offer visual variety, but may not fit every role or application preference. The product is translated into 20 languages, broadening its usefulness for people preparing applications in different languages.

AI writing and document tools

AI-powered sample sentences cover hundreds of job titles, and a summary generator can help users start drafting. These tools can reduce the friction of a blank page, but the finished application still depends on the applicant's own experience and editing. Resume import and a separate cover-letter builder support work across both document types. Many templates can be downloaded as PDF or Word DOCX, and Google Docs and Microsoft Word templates offer ways to edit or download outside the builder.

Pricing

The free plan is free and includes one resume, one cover letter, and TXT downloads only. Sharing and analytics are limited. That can be enough for someone preparing a single basic application, but the lack of PDF or DOCX downloads makes it restrictive for applicants who need those formats.

The 7-day Trial has no listed price and renews automatically as a premium monthly membership unless canceled. The Premium monthly renewal plan has no listed price and includes unlimited resumes and cover letters, all premium templates and colors, and unlimited PDF downloads. The Quarterly plan also has no listed price and includes those same stated benefits. The paid plans make more sense for people producing multiple applications or who need premium designs and PDF downloads, but the renewal condition makes it important to track the trial end date.

The pricing page says payments are processed through Stripe SSL Secure and a 256-bit SSL secure checkout. It also says the support team typically responds within 24 hours. Talent Worldwide, Inc. collects resume and job-related data to provide resume and cover-letter services.

Platforms

Resume.io is available on the web and has no mobile app. That is a straightforward fit for desktop-based application work, but not for users who want a dedicated phone or tablet app.

Who it's for

Resume.io presents its templates for job seekers across industries, including students, interns, and professionals. It is best suited to people who want a structured starting point, AI drafting assistance, and both resume and cover-letter tools together. Applicants who need a mobile app, or who require downloadable formats beyond TXT without paying, should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: 30 templates span ATS-friendly, professional, simple, modern, creative, and two-column styles, giving applicants options from conventional to more distinctive layouts.
Pros: AI sample sentences, a summary generator, resume import, and a cover-letter builder support several stages of application writing.
Pros: Many templates support PDF or Word DOCX downloads, and Google Docs and Microsoft Word templates provide additional editing routes.
Cons: The free plan is limited to one resume and cover letter, TXT downloads, and limited sharing and analytics, which can constrain active job seekers.
Cons: The seven-day trial automatically becomes a premium monthly membership unless canceled, creating a renewal obligation to manage.
Cons: Web-only access means there is no dedicated mobile app.

Alternatives

MyPerfectResume is worth considering if mobile access matters, since it supports Android, iOS, and web. Resume Genius also has Android and iOS apps; its free access allows TXT resume downloads and PDF, Word, or TXT cover-letter downloads. ResumeBuilder.com may suit applicants who want unlimited TXT downloads on its free plan, while Resume.io's free downloads are limited to TXT but also cap users at one resume and cover letter. Zety is another freemium resume and cover-letter builder. Enhancv is a paid platform that also offers a free plan. LiveCareer offers a free basic tier with TXT downloads and a 14-day premium access plan at 2.95 USD per month. Rezi is an option for users seeking AI-focused resume features, with a free plan capped at one resume, one AI interview, and three PDF downloads. CakeResume offers a free plan with 60 Cake AI credits per month and one resume. Readers comparing more tools can browse Resume Design Software, Resume Builders, AI Resume Builders, and Cover Letter Software.

Verdict

Resume.io is a strong choice for job seekers who want templates, AI drafting support, and resume and cover-letter creation in a single web tool. Its clearest drawback is the sharply limited free plan, compounded by a trial that renews monthly unless canceled. Choose it if the paid plan's unlimited documents and PDF downloads match your needs; look elsewhere if you require a mobile app or want more generous free downloads.
