Overview

HyNote is a cross-platform note-taking service that turns meetings and a range of other materials into searchable notes, then helps reshape them into study aids or content. It suits people who need more than a meeting transcript, though its 120-minute session ceiling and cloud-dependent mobile app are important constraints.

Its strongest case is breadth: capture, transcription, summaries, organization, and follow-on creation sit in one workflow. That range is useful for people moving between work notes, research, teaching, and publishing; someone seeking only a lightweight meeting recorder may not need the extra tools.

HyNote says customer content is not used to train its models. It says data is hosted on Google Cloud Platform, encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.2+, and that uploaded recordings and files are end-to-end encrypted across devices and accessible only to the user.

Key features

Capture and meeting workflow

HyNote accepts eight input types, including audio, PDFs, videos, images, websites, and text. Transcription supports more than 50 languages, with speaker identification and live translation. It can turn captured material into summaries, key points, action items, and meeting notes, supported by more than 30 professional templates. This breadth can reduce the effort of converting varied source material into usable records, although the 120-minute maximum recording length per session applies even on Unlimited.

Google Calendar sync brings upcoming events into HyNote and sends reminders. From its Calendar page, users can join Google Meet and start recording, a practical meeting shortcut for people already using Google’s calendar and meeting tools.

Study and publishing

HyNote can make flashcards, quizzes, and study plans from notes, and can also produce blog posts, podcasts, slides, and infographics. That makes it more versatile than a notes archive for educators, researchers, and creators who want to work material into different formats. Google Docs and Notion exports support handoff to those tools; Calendar sync covers Google and Apple calendars.

Privacy and connectivity

HyNote’s stated protections are useful for people handling private notes, but they do not remove the practical requirement for connectivity on mobile: recording, transcription, AI summaries, and cross-device sync are cloud-based, and the app requires an active internet connection. Offline access is not supported. The Mac app requires macOS 14 or later; on supported configurations, HyNote describes local recording and on-device transcription.

Pricing

HyNote has a free plan and paid plans billed annually, with a seven-day trial. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, forever. It includes audio recording and transcription, professional templates, file uploads, web, mobile, and tablet sync, calendar integration, private secured storage, and up to 120 minutes per session. It is a sensible starting point, but the paid plans add monthly transcription quotas or credits.

Pro costs 6.66 USD per month, billed annually at $79.99/year. It includes 1,200 transcription minutes per month and 300 one-time credits, fitting regular users who can work within a monthly allowance. Plus costs 10.83 USD per month, billed annually at $129.99/year, and includes 1,200 real-time transcription minutes per month and 400 one-time credits. Its real-time allocation may suit users who prioritize live transcription, but the listed minute quota remains 1,200.

Unlimited costs 15.83 USD per month, billed annually at $189.99/year, and includes unlimited real-time transcription plus 600 one-time credits. It is the clearest fit for sustained transcription demand, but does not remove the 120-minute cap on any individual session. The Unlimited plan also includes a CRM integration.

Teams costs 15.00 USD per month, auto-renews annually, and starts at two seats, at $180 per seat per year with a two-seat minimum. It includes priority support. This is designed for teams rather than an individual buying a single seat; the minimum means a buyer must budget for at least two. Paid plans auto-renew annually.

Platforms

HyNote is available on the web, macOS, iOS, Android, and as a Chrome extension. Mobile use depends on an active internet connection. Mac users need macOS 14 or later, and local recording with on-device transcription applies only on supported configurations.

Who it's for

HyNote is aimed at business professionals, operations and engineering workers, researchers, educators, public services, and content creators. Its combination of meeting capture, searchable notes, study tools, and publishing outputs makes most sense for people who reuse information in several ways. It is a poorer fit for mobile users who need offline recording, or for anyone whose sessions may exceed two hours without interruption.

Pros and cons

Pro: Eight input types, multilingual transcription, speaker identification, and live translation cover more than meeting audio alone.
Pro: Summaries, action items, templates, study tools, and publishing outputs give notes multiple useful next steps.
Pro: Google and Apple Calendar sync, plus Google Docs and Notion exports, support common scheduling and document workflows.
Con: Every plan has a 120-minute maximum per recording session, including Unlimited.
Con: The mobile app requires internet, and offline access is unavailable.
Con: Paid pricing is annual auto-renewal, while Teams requires at least two seats.

Choose Route5 AI if you need a free tier that spans Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows; its free tier is view-only and capped at three commitments, with capture, agents, and enforcement requiring Classic. ActFlux is a web-only option with a free plan covering five meetings a month. AfterTheCall suits a narrower client-call workflow: its free plan covers three client calls, one follow-up email per call, Notion and Google Docs integration, and manual recording.

Insolla Meeting Notes Analyzer may fit users who want a web tool priced around rows processed, with its free plan capped at 25 rows per month and Pro at 500. VeriAct offers a free web plan with five monthly extractions and TXT/DOCX transcripts, but excludes audio and video uploads. 4Minitz is the alternative for users seeking free, open-source, self-hosted meeting software. imeetly is another web option, with a free plan limited to five meetings a month, 100 MB files, and five AI memory searches per day.

Verdict

HyNote is a strong choice for people who need to turn meetings and varied source material into searchable notes, then reuse those notes for study or publishing. Its wide workflow and multiple platform options are the main reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if you need offline mobile work, recordings longer than 120 minutes per session, or a paid plan without annual renewal.
