Overview

Zoho Invoice is a billing and customer-payment product for small businesses and independent professionals. It is best suited to Indian businesses with modest invoicing needs, since its free plan combines recurring billing, reminders, and client access but caps users, projects, and annual invoices.

That makes it a practical starting point for freelancers, consultants, contractors, and small agencies that want to manage billing without a subscription. Businesses expecting heavier invoice volume, more collaborators, or an unbranded invoice should weigh those limits before adopting it.

Key features

Invoicing and payment

Users can create recurring invoices, track invoices, and monitor overdue balances. Invoices can be emailed or sent as PDFs through WhatsApp or iMessage, giving businesses several ways to deliver them. Customers can pay by UPI, credit or debit card, net banking, or bank payment; automated reminders can help keep outstanding invoices in view.

Customer access and business administration

The customer portal lets clients view and pay invoices, respond to quotes, and leave reviews. Expense and time tracking extend the product beyond invoice creation, while reports cover products, receivables aging, customers, taxes, sales, and expenses. These tools can help a small operation keep billing activity together, though the free plan's three-project ceiling may constrain firms managing several active engagements.

GST, integrations, and privacy

Businesses can create GST-compliant invoices and file GSTR-1 through an API. Zoho Invoice integrates with Zoho CRM, Analytics, Books, and other business tools. Zoho says it does not show ads or sell user information, and free email support is available 24/5. Account data is deleted after more than 180 days of inactivity, within the following 20 days, after prior notification; users who may leave an account dormant should account for that policy.

Pricing

Free

The Free plan is free and is billed free forever. It is free for all Indian businesses forever, includes two users, three projects, and up to 500 invoices per year, plus online invoicing, payment reminders, recurring invoices, a customer portal, expense tracking, and time tracking. For a solo operator or small team below those caps, that is a substantial set of billing tools without a recurring bill. The limits matter as volume and collaboration grow, and invoices carry Powered by Zoho Invoice branding.

There is no paid Zoho Invoice plan described here, so businesses that outgrow the caps should compare alternatives rather than assume a higher tier will remove them. Email support is available 24/5.

Platforms

Zoho Invoice is available on Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac. That range gives teams options across common mobile and desktop platforms.

Who it's for

The product is a good fit for freelancers, consultants, contractors, entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses that need recurring invoicing, payment follow-up, and a client portal without a subscription. Indian businesses that need GST-compliant invoicing and GSTR-1 filing through an API have a specific reason to consider it. It is less suitable for teams that need more than two users, more than three projects, or more than 500 invoices a year, or that do not want Zoho branding on invoices.

Cons: Two users, three projects, and 500 annual invoices impose clear ceilings on growing teams and busier billing operations.

Look elsewhere if those caps, the invoice branding, or the inactivity-based data deletion policy do not fit how your business operates.
