Overview

iSharing combines live location sharing with communication and safety tools for families and close friends. It is most relevant to parents and caregivers who want location alerts and driving reports in one app. The free tier is a practical starting point, while broader alert coverage and longer history require a paid plan.

Key features

Place alerts tell users when a friend arrives at or leaves a selected location. Free allows one alert and Silver allows five; Gold and Platinum remove the alert cap. That makes Free suitable for monitoring one key destination, but households keeping tabs on several regular stops will quickly reach its limit. The service also has a five-place geofence limit.

SOS is included across all plans. Free offers standard SOS, while Silver and above add surrounding audio, providing more context with an emergency alert. Driving reports cover behavior such as speed and sudden braking. Free users can watch an ad to unlock seven days of their own location or driving history; Silver includes seven-day history and driving reports, Gold extends both to 90 days, and Platinum to one year. Battery and inactivity alerts are premium features, with access depending on plan.

Gold and Platinum also include driving alerts, street view, group subscription sharing, and linked devices. These additions make the upper tiers more useful for households coordinating multiple devices or monitoring driving, but they are not necessary for basic real-time sharing. Desktop browser access to view live locations and manage alerts is exclusive to Platinum, a significant restriction for anyone who expects to manage the service from a computer.

Pricing

iSharing uses a freemium model, with a free plan and a seven-day trial whose availability varies by country. The Free plan is free. It includes one place alert and standard SOS; watching an ad unlocks seven-day access to the user's own location or driving history. This is the clearest fit for basic real-time sharing, but the ad-based history access and single-alert cap limit its usefulness for more involved routines.

Silver has custom pricing. It offers five place alerts, seven-day history and driving reports, battery and inactivity alerts, and SOS sound alerts. It suits households that need more than one location alert and emergency audio without needing long report history or desktop access.

Gold also has custom pricing. It adds unlimited place alerts, 90-day history and driving reports, driving alerts, street view, group subscription sharing, and linked devices. This is the more capable choice for families managing several locations or wanting a longer view of driving activity.

Platinum has custom pricing and includes the Gold features with one-year history and desktop browser access. It is the only fit for users who need to view live locations and manage alerts in a desktop browser. Choose a lower tier if mobile access and shorter history are sufficient.

Platforms

iSharing is available on Android, iOS, and web, but desktop browser access to real-time locations and alert management requires Platinum. Its privacy policy says the app collects geolocation to provide its service, may share location data for advertising, research, and analytics, and uses commercially reasonable safeguards without guaranteeing complete security. Location sharing is central to the product, so that policy deserves careful consideration before a household adopts it.

Who it's for

iSharing is aimed at families and close friends, with particular relevance for parents and caregivers tracking loved ones. It is a sensible choice for groups that value live location, arrival and departure alerts, and SOS in one service. It is less compelling for anyone who needs computer access on a lower tier, wants extensive history without upgrading, or is uncomfortable with the stated location-data practices.

Pros and cons

Pro: SOS is available even on Free, so basic users do not need a paid plan for emergency alerts.
Pro: Higher tiers extend history from seven days to 90 days or one year, which gives families a longer record of location and driving activity.
Con: Free has only one place alert, limiting its usefulness for households tracking several destinations.
Con: Desktop browser access is reserved for Platinum, despite web being among the supported platforms.
Con: The privacy policy allows location data sharing for advertising, research, and analytics, and does not promise complete security.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Family Locator Apps. Family Locator is worth considering if a free version with complete functionality or a one-time premium purchase better suits your needs. Findmykids is another freemium option for Android, iOS, and web. OtoZen is a freemium Android and iOS alternative. CircleUs may suit groups looking for a free plan with up to five members, three place alerts, and two circles. Be Closer offers free real-time location on Android and iOS, with unlimited history on Premium. BuddySOS is a freemium choice with one group and one safe zone on its free plan. Familo has a free Basic plan. Family Safety: GPS Locator offers unlimited circles as a one-time purchase.

Verdict

Choose iSharing if your family or close friends want live location sharing, practical arrival alerts, and SOS in one service, and the Free plan's limits meet your needs. Its strongest case is the progression from basic sharing to longer driving history and richer alerts. Look elsewhere if desktop use matters but Platinum does not fit, or if the location-data sharing policy is not acceptable to your group.
