Overview

Social27 is designed to build virtual communities around conferences and other events. Organizers can publish sessions and event content, including content contributed by attendees. Networking tools span short introduction videos, roundtables, boardroom-style meetings, and chat, giving events more ways to connect people than a session schedule alone.

Social27 Events is also a Microsoft Teams app that adds attendee networking and a virtual expo to Teams webinars and meetings. That makes it a natural fit for organizations already using Teams that want more event interaction and sponsor presence without moving their meetings elsewhere. Social27 was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Redmond, Washington.

Key features

Sponsor spaces and event operations

Organizers can set sponsor tiers with microsites, clickable logos and banners, roundtables, and pre-roll ads. This gives sponsors several routes to visibility and participation; it is most useful when an event has active exhibitors and enough sponsor inventory to justify the setup.

The Events Builder covers user management, content uploads, insights, forms, polls, and sponsor and exhibitor offerings. It puts core event administration in one place, while the listed admin limits mean teams should match the plan to the number of people who need access.

Recommendations and mobile participation

The Recommendation & Prediction Engine uses AI and a proprietary machine-learning algorithm to learn attendee interests and content preferences. That is intended to help direct attendees toward relevant content, though its usefulness depends on having enough attendee activity and content for recommendations to draw on.

The mobile app supports networking, personal agendas, live Q&A, polls, surveys, multiple languages, and time zones. A branded mobile app is also offered, which can make sense for events where an event-specific attendee experience matters. Integrations listed include Stripe payment processing, event tools, registration sync, Paragon integrations, and custom API integration.

Security and support

Social27 says its platform runs on AWS and Microsoft Azure, encrypts data in transit and at rest, and uses two-factor and identity-based access controls. Its security materials list ISO, SOC, SOC 2, and GDPR; Stripe handles payment integration and is PCI DSS certified.

Plan features include email and chat support, designated customer success and technical program managers, and onboarding and training. These services can help teams running complex events, but the support package varies by plan.

Pricing

Social27 offers a free plan and a free trial. The pricing model is paid, with pricing from $149, while the plans with published prices provide clearer choices for Teams users and smaller events.

Starter (Microsoft Teams app): Free, billed “Start for free.” It includes one admin, networking, a virtual expo, and self-guided support. This is the entry point for trying the Teams event format, but it does not include the broader support package.
Pro (Microsoft Teams app): 270.00 USD per month, billed $270/mo. per Admin. It allows 1–5 admins and unlimited webinars and meetings. The per-admin billing makes the cost scale with the size of the team.
Lite: 799.00 USD per month, billed $799 / month. It covers events up to 24 hours, one admin user, and additional 100 / m registrations. The single-admin cap and one-day event window suit a compact event operation, not a team that needs several organizers or longer programming.
Business: custom pricing, billed “Let's Talk.” It supports events up to 72 hours, five admin users, and additional 100 / m registrations. The extra duration and seats suit larger event teams than Lite, but it still caps event length.
Enterprise: custom pricing, billed “Let's Talk.” Event length, admin users, and registrations are custom. Social27 positions it for mid- to large-scale virtual and hybrid events run by corporations and event management companies, where tailored limits are more important than a fixed package.
Business (Microsoft Teams app): custom pricing, billed “Contact Us.” It includes 5+ admins, dedicated support, analytics and reporting, CRM integrations, and an attendee mobile app.

For an event that exceeds 24 hours or needs more than one admin, Lite's published limits are a material constraint. Business extends the event window and admin capacity, while Enterprise allows custom limits; both require a pricing conversation. Teams plans separate a free starter option from per-admin Pro billing and a custom Business tier.

Platforms

Social27 supports Android, iOS, and web. Its separate Microsoft Teams app extends webinars and meetings with networking and a virtual expo, making the platform relevant to organizations standardizing on Teams as well as attendees using mobile devices.

Who it's for

Social27 is best suited to corporate event teams and event management companies planning virtual or hybrid conferences with sponsor participation, attendee networking, and mobile access. Its combination of expo spaces, sessions, and engagement tools is a stronger fit for events built around multiple interactions than for a simple meeting. Smaller teams should pay close attention to admin seats and event duration before choosing Lite or Business.

Pros and cons

Pro: Sponsor tiers combine microsites, banners, ads, and live roundtables, giving organizers several ways to build an exhibitor experience.
Pro: Networking spans video introductions, meetings, and chat, alongside agendas, live Q&A, polls, and surveys on mobile.
Pro: The Teams app adds a virtual expo and networking to existing webinars and meetings, while the free Starter plan provides a way to begin without a subscription.
Con: Lite permits only one admin and events up to 24 hours, limiting its fit for longer programs or teams that divide event operations.
Con: Business and Enterprise use custom pricing, so organizations needing their higher limits must request a quote rather than compare a fixed monthly price.

Alternatives

Virtual Event Platforms is the broader category directory for comparing event software. Consider EventX if a free plan capped at 30 attendees per event, with tickets, registration, check-in, and badge printing, better matches a small event's needs.

SpatialChat is a more focused option for small online meetings: its free tier allows 12 participants, two hours of meetings daily, four customized rooms, and three shared screens or files at once. Choose Webex App instead for free meetings capped at 40 minutes and 100 attendees across its supported desktop and mobile platforms.

Event Anywhere is another freemium alternative, with a free Basic plan for individuals. MootUp offers a free tier for meetings of up to five participants and 40 minutes, with unlimited meetings and six environment templates.

Shindig has a free plan with one admin, 100 participants per event, a 40-minute event limit, four speakers on stage, and 1,000 user hours per month. EventsX is worth considering for free events capped at 60 minutes and 100 registrations, with unlimited events. Micepad offers a free plan for up to 50 attendees, including QR code check-in, a seating chart, and basic reports.

Verdict

Choose Social27 if your virtual or hybrid event needs sponsor spaces, attendee networking, and a mobile experience, especially if your organization already runs webinars through Microsoft Teams. Its event tools cover more than broadcasting sessions, but the short Lite event window, low admin cap, and custom pricing on higher tiers make it less suitable for teams that need predictable costs or flexible capacity. Confirm the plan limits against your event schedule and staffing before committing.
