Overview

Built by Kangarootime, headquartered in Buffalo, New York, the service brings the main routines of an early-childhood operation into one system. Enrollment management, family communication, check-in and attendance, billing and payments, and lesson planning are all covered. That combination can reduce the need to coordinate several separate products and gives staff one operational record to work from.

The freemium model lowers the barrier to trying it. A 30-day trial provides time to assess the workflow, while the permanent free plan is intentionally sized for a very small operation: one program, one school, and five staff members. It is a practical entry point, not a plan for expansion.

Key features

Enrollment and attendance

Enrollment management and daily check-in sit together, giving administrators a continuous path from admitting a child to recording attendance. For a center that wants fewer disconnected processes, that is more useful than treating admissions and daily records as separate jobs.

Family communication and payments

Family communication and billing are part of the same platform. Parents and guardians can be contacted through the service while payment administration remains alongside the child and program records, helping a provider keep routine financial and relationship work in one operating environment.

Lesson planning

Lesson planning extends the product beyond office administration. Programs that want classroom preparation represented in the same system as enrollment and attendance get a broader operational view; organizations looking only for billing or check-in may find that scope unnecessary.

Pricing

Plan	Price and limits	Best fit
Free	Free; 1 program, 1 school, 5 staff members	A single small provider evaluating the core workflow
Premium	Custom pricing; up to 10 schools and unlimited staff members	Operators that have outgrown the five-person free cap or run several schools
Enterprise	Custom pricing; unlimited schools and unlimited programs	Larger organizations with no stated school or program ceiling

The free edition is unusually constrained by organization structure as well as staff count: adding a second school or program requires moving up. Premium removes the staff limit and supports up to 10 schools, while Enterprise is the tier for unlimited schools and programs. Because neither paid plan has a published price, buyers should expect a sales-led quote rather than a predictable self-serve bill. The 30-day trial is the relevant evaluation window before committing.

Platforms

Kangarootime runs on the web and offers both iOS and Android apps. That mix suits administrators working from a browser and staff or families who need mobile access; organizations that require another platform should verify fit before choosing it.

Who it's for

Choose it for a daycare, preschool, or early-childhood program that wants enrollment, attendance, communication, payments, and lesson planning connected. The free plan is aimed at one school with no more than five staff members. Premium fits a multi-school operator up to 10 schools, while Enterprise is designed for organizations needing unlimited schools and programs. It is less compelling for a provider that wants a narrowly focused tool or cannot work through web, iOS, or Android.

Pros and cons

Pro: Enrollment, attendance, family messaging, billing, and lesson planning share one system, reducing the need to coordinate separate products.
Pro: A permanent free plan and 30-day trial let a small provider start without an immediate subscription commitment.
Pro: iOS and Android apps complement the web version for mobile access.
Con: The free plan allows only one program, one school, and five staff members, so growing teams will reach its ceiling quickly.
Con: Premium and Enterprise pricing is custom, making costs harder to forecast before speaking with Kangarootime.

EZChildTrack is a paid, quote-based alternative priced according to program size.

Verdict

Kangarootime is a strong choice for a childcare operator that wants one web-and-mobile system spanning enrollment through lesson planning, especially when a small team can begin on the free plan. Look elsewhere if the one-school, five-staff ceiling is too restrictive or if you need transparent prices before selecting a larger deployment.
