Overview

Slazzer is an automatic background-removal service for individual edits, batch work, and software that needs background removal built in. It suits users who want desktop apps, design-tool integrations, or an API alongside website previews; the small free credit balance and custom pricing on paid plans make it less appealing if predictable costs are essential.

It supports replacement backgrounds and complex edges, with commercial use allowed. Website previews up to 0.25 megapixels are unlimited and free, but the free plan’s two credits are for personal use and evaluation. That makes the site useful for judging the result before committing, not for running a substantial free production workflow.

Key features

Slazzer removes backgrounds automatically and supports batch processing, so it can serve both one-off edits and repeated image workflows. Exports include PNG, JPG, JPEG, and WEBP, and maximum output resolution is 6250. Uploads accept JPG, JPEG, and PNG files up to 12 MB.

Apps are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, with mobile and design-tool integrations also supported. Photoshop, Figma, and Sketch have plugins or extensions. The REST API can integrate background removal into websites and apps, processing up to 500 images per minute; higher limits are available on request. That throughput is useful for automated workflows, while enterprise plans add support, multiple API keys, custom training, and an account manager.

Preview costs depend on the route: website previews up to 0.25 megapixels are free and unlimited, while previews through apps and the API cost 0.20 credit each. Anyone conserving a small credit balance should use the website for initial evaluation.

Pricing

The free plan is free forever. It includes two credits for personal use and evaluation. Free website previews are a separate way to inspect images without using those credits, but they do not turn the plan into an unrestricted processing tier.

Subscriptions provide monthly credit budgets of 100, 300, 1,000, 1,800, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, or 50,000 credits, with custom pricing. The 100-credit tier is the smallest stated recurring allowance; larger tiers suit heavier workflows, but the credit unit and preview cost should be considered when estimating usage. Subscription credits can roll over up to six times the monthly budget, and subscriptions can be upgraded, downgraded, or cancelled at any time.

Top-ups are sold in 10-, 50-, and 200-credit amounts at custom pricing. Unlike a monthly allowance, top-up credits remain available for two years after purchase, which may suit occasional use better than a recurring plan. The paid tiers do not publish prices, so compare the credit budget with your expected processing before choosing.

Platforms

Slazzer covers Windows, Mac, Linux, mobile, and integrations with design tools. Its API supports web and app integration. The combination makes it more flexible than a browser-only editor, although users who only need occasional edits may not benefit from the breadth of access.

Who it's for

Slazzer is a good fit for designers and image teams that need batch processing, replacement backgrounds, or plugins for Photoshop, Figma, and Sketch. Developers can use the API to embed removal in their own products, and enterprise plans add account support and custom training. It is less suited to users who need a generous free allowance or must know subscription costs before adopting a service.

Pros and cons

Pros: Batch processing, replacement backgrounds, and support for complex edges cover more than single-image cutouts.
Pros: Desktop apps, design-tool integrations, and a REST API give users several ways to fit Slazzer into existing workflows.
Pros: Unlimited free website previews up to 0.25 megapixels let users assess images without spending credits.
Pros: Subscription credits can roll over up to six times the monthly budget, and top-ups last two years.
Cons: The free plan has only two credits and is limited to personal use and evaluation, so it is not a meaningful production allowance.
Cons: App and API previews cost 0.20 credit each, which can erode a small balance before full processing.
Cons: Subscription and top-up prices are custom pricing, making paid costs harder to compare in advance.

Alternatives

Choose Cutout.Pro if you want a published entry point: its 80-credit monthly subscription costs 5.00 USD per month, and it supports mobile, web, desktop, and API platforms.

LocalBG is worth considering if you want a free plan with unlimited image processing and self-hosted platform support, though its free plan processes one image at a time and excludes bulk processing, resizing, and compression.

Pixelcut may suit someone looking for a free plan that also includes limited upscaling and free export without a watermark, with web, Android, iOS, and API access.

BackgroundRemover is the alternative to consider if open-source software that can be installed locally for free is the priority.

Clipdrop offers a free plan with background removal at 20 uses per 24 hours, alongside other image tools such as upscaling, cleanup, and relighting.

PhotoScissors has published monthly plans starting at 4.99 USD per month for 10 images, making it an option for readers who prefer a stated image-based price.

BackgroundX offers five credits on signup and one free trial without signup, a useful alternative for trying a service without a card.

Knockout API may be a better fit for API-first use when a recurring free allowance matters: its free plan includes 30 images per month.

Verdict

Choose Slazzer if you need background removal across desktop apps, design tools, batches, or an API, and the credit-based model fits your workflow. Its broad access options and free website previews are the strongest reasons to consider it; look elsewhere if you need substantial free processing or published subscription prices before committing.
