Overview

KNAPP KiSoft WES is a warehouse execution layer that coordinates work between management software and operational control systems. It is best suited to warehouses whose WMS cannot connect to automation or bring subsystems together; its chief caveat is that a separate WES adds little when a WMS or WCS already performs those functions.

Rather than replace those systems, KiSoft WES connects them, prioritizes orders and adjusts material flows as conditions change. The modular approach can be shaped around a project, but requires a conversation with KNAPP to establish scope and price.

KNAPP AG, founded in 1952 and headquartered in Hart bei Graz, Austria, makes the software.

Key features

Order and flow coordination

KiSoft WES communicates between warehouse management systems and control systems such as KiSoft WCS and KiSoft FCS. It can control order release, prioritize work and identify bottlenecks while optimizing material flows. For operations spanning multiple systems, that coordination can help keep execution aligned; it is not a reason to add another layer if existing software already covers the need.

Real-time response and visibility

As an event-driven system, it can react to errors, bottlenecks and priority changes by reprioritizing orders or redirecting flows. It also processes connected-system data to show the current status of orders, resources and material flows. The combination is useful when operators need both a live operational picture and a way to adjust work, though the benefit depends on the connected systems and selected modules.

Configurable integration

Customers can activate modules according to business needs and combine KiSoft WES with other KiSoft products or existing systems. Depending on project requirements, functions may include ERP integration, replenishment management, sorter control, pick-to-light management and scanner integration. This breadth supports tailored deployments, but does not establish that every function is included in every project.

Pricing

Custom project license

KiSoft WES uses custom pricing. Functions are tailored to customer needs in a joint project, so this model suits organizations prepared to define requirements with KNAPP rather than buyers looking for a ready-priced package. KiSoft portfolio licenses may be perpetual or SaaS, with on-premise or cloud operation depending on use; the licensing and hosting choice will matter to procurement and IT planning.

KNAPP directs prospective customers to its sales team. No trial, seat allowance, usage quota or renewal term is established for this WES license.

Platforms

KiSoft WES is listed for Android, iOS, Linux, macOS and Windows, as well as web and self-hosted use, with API access. The deployment model is cloud. Buyers should confirm which operating environments apply to their project, since the product’s hosting can depend on use.

Who it's for

KiSoft WES is a strong candidate for a manual warehouse whose WMS cannot connect to automation or integrate subsystems, and for operations that need real-time coordination across management and control systems. It is a poor fit when the current WMS or WCS already covers the required execution functions: KNAPP says a separate WES is then unnecessary.

KNAPP offers 24/7 support in 12 languages and project assistance throughout its software products’ lifecycle. It also describes security as a priority and operates a vulnerability disclosure and bug bounty program covering knapp.com and its subdomains.

Pros and cons

Pros: Real-time order reprioritization and flow redirection can help operations respond to disruptions rather than follow a fixed sequence.
Pros: Modular functions and integration with existing systems allow a project to address selected operational gaps.
Pros: 24/7 support in 12 languages and lifecycle project assistance support deployments that need ongoing vendor involvement.
Cons: Custom project pricing and tailored functions make it harder to compare cost and scope before engaging KNAPP.
Cons: The product is redundant when an existing WMS or WCS already handles the required coordination.

Alternatives

Compare warehouse execution software if you want to review the category before settling on a project.

Prime Execution System is worth comparing if a free trial is important; its software license is a one-time fee and includes three years of 24/7 remote support, warranty and onsite maintenance.
VARGO COFE WES may suit smaller operations processing as few as 2,000 orders per day or 44,000; its SaaS pricing is based on order volume.
Dematic Warehouse Execution System is an option for configurable warehouse or production operations scaled to the required support level.
Exacta WES is another paid WES option from Toyota Automated Logistics.
LogisQ-WES is another paid option, with Linux and Windows platform support.
Numina RDS is another paid option, with Linux, self-hosted and web support.
WISE WES offers modular functionality sold as a suite or decoupled.
GreyMatter is another paid option with Pro, Premium and Power plans.

Verdict

Choose KiSoft WES if your warehouse needs a configurable coordination layer to connect a WMS with control systems and adapt execution in real time. Its main strength is dynamic orchestration across systems; its main reason to look elsewhere is equally clear: if your WMS or WCS already covers those functions, the extra layer is unnecessary. Ask KNAPP to scope the project and pricing before committing.
