Overview

Legartis is a legal AI workspace for organizations that want contract work handled according to their internal standards. It is best suited to legal, procurement and sales teams with recurring review and approval workflows; occasional users may find the free allowance too small for regular work.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, it brings contract review, workflow automation and reporting into one product. Teams can work on the web, macOS or Windows, or connect through the API.

Key features

Review against company guidelines

AI Contract Review checks contracts against company rules, with PDF review in the browser and Word-document support through a Word add-in. Clause comparison and redline suggestions help reviewers identify differences and propose changes. This makes the product a stronger fit for teams applying consistent standards than for users who need only occasional, ad hoc document help.

The Free plan includes an NDA Best Practice Playbook. Team to Enterprise adds custom playbooks built with the Playbook Agent, making the higher tier more relevant when a company needs its own positions and rules reflected in review. Playbook creation supports XLSX files.

Agent-led workflows and reporting

The Legal Agent can research, draft, review, analyse and report, and can run work from intake through approvals and signature. That breadth is useful for teams trying to connect review with the surrounding legal process, rather than treating contract review as a standalone step. Contract Insights adds scheduled or event-triggered reports and Tabular Review for contract data.

Integrations include API and MCP connections and DocuSign e-signature. The breadth of workflow and reporting features is a strength for organizations consolidating legal work, but smaller teams may not need that scope.

Security and administration

Legartis states that it is GDPR-compliant and ISO 27001-certified, hosts data in Switzerland and Europe, does not share data with third parties, and excludes customer data from model training. Team to Enterprise includes SSO, role management, audit logs, priority support and a dedicated customer success manager. Those controls matter to organizations managing access and oversight across a team; they are not part of the free offer.

Pricing

Free

0.00 USD per free covers one seat and two NDA reviews a month, with an NDA Best Practice Playbook and fair usage limits for the Legal Agent, Review Agent and storage. It supports German, English and French. This is a useful way for one person to try a narrow NDA workflow, but the seat and review caps make it a poor fit for ongoing team use or broader contract types.

Team to Enterprise

Custom pricing covers all contract types, all European languages, unlimited Legal Agent use with custom workflows, and a dedicated customer success manager. Team to Enterprise also includes custom playbooks, SSO, role management, audit logs and priority support. The step up is suited to organizations that need company-specific standards and administrative controls, but buyers must move to custom pricing for those capabilities.

Legartis offers a 14-day trial. The Free plan's two-review monthly cap and fair usage limits are the main constraints to weigh before relying on it for regular work.

Platforms

Legartis supports web, macOS, Windows and API access. It handles PDF and DOCX files, with XLSX support for playbook creation. Supported languages on the Free plan are German, English and French; Team to Enterprise covers all European languages.

Who it's for

Legartis is aimed at legal, procurement and sales teams in companies of any size and industry. Its combination of guideline-based review, approvals, reporting and access controls is most compelling for organizations with repeatable processes and internal standards to enforce. A solo user or small team needing more than two NDA reviews a month should consider whether custom-priced team capabilities fit its needs.

Pros and cons

Pros

Review can reflect company rules: custom playbooks on Team to Enterprise extend the free NDA playbook to organization-specific guidance.
Workflows extend beyond review: the Legal Agent can carry work from intake through approvals and signature.
Reporting is built in: scheduled or event-triggered Contract Insights and Tabular Review support analysis of contract data.
Enterprise controls are included at team level: SSO, roles, audit logs and dedicated customer success support suit organizations with oversight needs.

Cons

The free tier is tightly capped: one seat and two NDA reviews per month limit its usefulness for team adoption or regular volume.
Company-specific capabilities require custom pricing: custom playbooks, unlimited Legal Agent use and administrative controls sit with Team to Enterprise.
The free language range is limited: German, English and French are included, while all European languages require the higher tier.

Alternatives

Legistry AI is worth considering for teams that want a free allowance of up to three users, five contracts and ten AI calls a month, or a published Professional plan at 49.00 USD per month; it also supports self-hosting.

Obligant suits buyers who prioritize a free-forever option with three contracts and unlimited users, or a Starter plan at 9.99 GBP per month for ten contracts and unlimited users.

PactSeal is another option for readers comparing contract-focused plans with a free one-user allowance of up to ten contracts and ten extractions.

Qeluntra is an alternative for teams comparing entity- and power-user-based plans, including a free tier for one entity and one power user.

Robin AI is another option in the legal AI category.

VigiloIQ is an alternative for buyers seeking an API- or web-based paid product with a free trial and enterprise SLA eligibility.

Contractzy is an alternative for teams comparing paid contract management plans with API, self-hosted and web access.

ThoughtRiver is another paid option, with a Starter plan priced at 6.00 USD per month and support for API, extension, web and Windows.

Verdict

Choose Legartis if your legal, procurement or sales team needs company-standard contract review linked to agent-led workflows, reporting and team controls. Its central advantage is the combination of those capabilities in one workspace; its main drawback is the sharp divide between a tightly limited free tier and custom-priced team plans. For occasional NDA review, the free plan may suffice, but teams needing regular volume or custom guidance should compare the higher-tier commitment with alternatives.
