Overview

Legito is a web-based document lifecycle and automation platform for teams that create, approve, sign, and track legal documents. It is best suited to organizations that want repeatable no-code workflows alongside document oversight. The free workspace lowers the barrier to entry, but the PDF-only direct-signing rule is an important constraint.

Interactive templates and inserted data support advanced document automation without coding. Legito also combines approval workflows, renewal tracking, audit trails, and electronic signatures, so teams can manage more of a document’s path in one place. Its scope spans Legal Document Automation Software, Document Template Management Software, and Contract Management Software.

Key features

Document automation: Interactive templates and inserted data let teams automate advanced documents without coding. This suits repeatable drafting processes, though template-led automation may be more platform than a team needs if it only wants occasional signing.
Approvals and lifecycle tracking: Customizable workflows and approvals support controlled document routing, while renewal tracking helps teams keep an eye on contract renewals.
Electronic signatures: Signing is built in, including in the free workspace. Direct signing is limited to PDFs; other document formats are converted to PDF, which adds a format constraint for teams working in native files.
Signing access and security: Signatories can use a browser on any device without installing an app. BioSign supports biometric signing of PDFs on tablets and smartphones. Signed PDFs are encrypted using a verified third-party certificate, and document timelines and audit trails record who did what and when.
Connections and support: Integrations include no-code options, APIs, webhooks, and DocuSign. Support spans knowledge resources, professional services, courses, webinars, and implementation partners, which can help organizations adopting more complex workflows.

Pricing

Legito uses a freemium model. The Free Plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes document lifecycle management, customizable workflows and approvals, and electronic signatures. A free workspace and free electronic signing make it a practical starting point for evaluating the core workflow, although the published paid tiers impose monthly document quotas.

Starter costs 6.90 EUR per month, billed monthly, and includes 5 documents per month. It is the lower-cost paid option for modest document volumes, but the quota is restrictive for teams handling regular contract work. Business costs 13.90 EUR per month, billed monthly, and includes 20 documents per month; that higher allowance better fits teams with more frequent activity, but still sets a clear ceiling.

Workspace has custom pricing and includes as many documents as needed, customizable templates, document revision history, external document recordkeeping, analytics and managerial reporting, API integration, and permission settings. Its 30-day free trial gives teams a way to assess the fuller workspace before committing. Membership renews automatically, but users can cancel anytime at no extra cost. Paid Workspace plans include the 30-day trial.

The Free Workspace is described as free of charge forever. The plan details also give the Free Plan a 0.00 USD per free price, so readers should distinguish that entry-level offer from the paid document quotas rather than assume the paid limits apply to it.

Platforms

Legito supports web and API access, with deployment options listed as both. Browser-based signing works across devices without an app; mobile biometric signing is available through BioSign on tablets and smartphones, specifically for PDF documents. The combination is useful for distributed signatories, while direct signing still depends on PDF conversion for other formats.

Who it's for

Legito is a strong fit for legal and operations teams that need reusable document templates, approval paths, renewal oversight, and auditable signing in a connected workflow. API access, integrations, permissions, and reporting make it relevant to organizations connecting document processes to broader systems. It is less suitable for users whose primary requirement is signing original non-PDF files or whose document volume exceeds the Starter or Business caps without wanting custom-priced Workspace.

Pros and cons

Pros: The free workspace includes lifecycle management, customizable approvals, and electronic signatures, giving teams a substantive way to begin.
Pros: No-code automation, renewal tracking, timelines, and audit trails cover both document production and follow-through.
Pros: Browser signing needs no app installation, and integrations include API, webhook, no-code, and DocuSign options.
Cons: Only PDFs can be signed directly; other file types must be converted.
Cons: Starter and Business cap monthly documents at 5 and 20 respectively, which can constrain growing or high-volume teams.
Cons: Workspace uses custom pricing, so teams needing unlimited documents and its advanced controls cannot compare a fixed public monthly price.

Alternatives

Choose Docassemble if a free, self-hosted option matters more than Legito’s packaged lifecycle workflow; its software has no fee, though hosting typically costs $10–$40 per month or more depending on performance, availability, and support needs.

Verdict

Choose Legito if your team wants no-code document automation joined to approvals, renewal tracking, audit trails, and signing, with a free workspace to start. Its breadth is the main reason to choose it; the PDF-only signing limit and the low monthly quotas on the fixed-price tiers are the main reasons to look elsewhere.
