Overview

Live Home 3D is a home-design app for developing floor plans into 3D room, house, exterior and terrain designs. It is a strong fit for homeowners and designers who want to move between measured layouts and visual walkthroughs; its free tier is useful for exploring the workflow, but its story cap and watermarked exports make paid access important for finished work.

Its emphasis is design and visualization, not a dedicated construction-administration workflow. For a broader shortlist, see 3D Home Design Software and Floor Plan Software.

Key features

Plans that lead into walkthroughs

Wall tools support drawing a plan from scratch, while image tracing can help recreate an existing layout. Dimensions and multiple stories add useful structure for more involved homes. Switching between 2D and 3D makes it possible to relate the plan to the space it describes, and walkthroughs let users inspect the design from inside. Furniture and finishes can be rearranged, making the app useful for developing and communicating a design rather than simply drafting a diagram.

Models, materials and rendering

The Mac product page lists 2,400 3D models and 2,100 materials. The store feature chart also includes importing objects from Trimble 3D Warehouse and browsing and importing Sketchfab models; Sketchfab requires a free account. The Mac app accepts FBX, 3DS, COLLADA and OBJ object imports, and exports PDF plans, images, panoramas, walkthrough videos and several 3D model formats. That range supports both presentation and reuse in other workflows, though supported formats vary by platform.

Mac users can make unlimited on-device offline ray-tracing renders with AMD Radeon ProRender or Cycles. AI cloud rendering instead uses purchased credits, so frequent rendering can carry a separate cost. Real-time scenes, 360° tours and VR/AR support extend the visualization options, while video export is useful for sharing a walkthrough.

Pricing

Live Home 3D is freemium, with paid plans starting at 5.99 USD per month. The free iPhone/iPad/Vision app costs 0.00 USD per free and offers in-app Standard and Pro subscriptions and lifetime licenses. Free is best for trying out the planning workflow; its two-story maximum and watermarked exports are real constraints for larger projects or polished deliverables.

On iPhone, iPad and Vision, Standard costs 5.99 USD per month or 19.99 USD per year, while Pro costs 14.99 USD per month or 39.99 USD per year. The lower Standard tier suits users who need paid features without the full Pro tier; Pro is the higher-priced choice for those who need its additional features. Lifetime in-app licenses cost 59.99 USD for Standard and 129.99 USD for Pro, avoiding a continuing subscription.

Mac buyers can choose Live Home 3D Standard for 59.99 USD per once or Pro for 129.99 USD per once. Both are lifetime licenses and require macOS 13 or higher. The store also offers a free trial and a 30 day money back guarantee for purchases covered by its refund policy. The listed subscription terms do not state a renewal schedule, so buyers should check the purchase terms before subscribing.

Platforms

Live Home 3D is available on Android, iOS, macOS and Windows. The Mac feature set includes the stated object formats and offline ray tracing; exports and other capabilities differ by platform, so users moving between devices should confirm the formats they need. Usage statistics are collected only with permission, and none are collected on Windows or Android.

Who it's for

Homeowners can use it to plan rooms or a whole home and assess furniture and finishes in 3D. Professional designers may find the combination of measured plans, model imports, rendering and presentation exports useful for developing and showing a concept. It is less suited to people who need a free project with more than two stories, unwatermarked output, or a workflow centered on construction administration.

Pros and cons

Pros: The 2D-to-3D workflow links measured layouts to walkthroughs, helping users judge how a proposed design reads in space.
Pros: Mac users get broad import and export options, a substantial listed model and material library, and unlimited offline ray-tracing renders.
Cons: The free version is capped at two stories and watermarks exports, limiting its usefulness for larger or presentation-ready projects.
Cons: Rendering and format availability vary by platform, and AI cloud rendering requires purchased credits.

Alternatives

Choose Planner 5D if web access matters alongside desktop and mobile, or if uploading a floor plan for conversion to a 3D project and a full premium furniture catalog are priorities; its Premium plan is 59.99 USD per year.

Sweet Home 3D is a free alternative with desktop, online and mobile availability, including Linux support. Consider pCon.planner if configurable product data from a supplier is central to the work; its Marketing Edition is free.

Home Design 3D is another freemium option across Android, iOS, macOS and Windows. RoomSketcher may suit users who want a free entry point with two credits, one free AI floor-plan conversion, 2D and 3D plans, snapshots and AI Render.

Coohom is worth considering for its free Starter plan, which includes 10 renders a month and a 3,000+ furniture catalog. For a more limited web or Android floor-plan workflow, Floor Plan Creator offers a free web tier with one project and low-resolution image exports. Homestyler offers a free Basic plan with unlimited 1K rendering and a large free 3D model and material catalog.

Verdict

Live Home 3D is a good choice for homeowners and designers who want to take a plan through 3D review, walkthroughs and varied exports. Its strongest reason to choose it is the breadth of that connected workflow, particularly on Mac; look elsewhere if the free tier must support larger projects or clean exports, or if a particular platform's formats and rendering options do not fit your work.
