Overview

LOVAT brings tax registration and marketplace-tax tools together with VAT, US sales tax, EPR checks, and e-invoicing. VAT and sales-tax calculations span 111 countries and 123 currencies; VAT returns can be submitted directly to tax authorities, while the sales-tax service calculates and files online returns for 37 US states. That mix can reduce the number of services a cross-border operation needs to coordinate, though the relevant features may sit in different plans.

Beyond tax returns, LOVAT automates EPR compliance checks in Germany, France, Spain, the UK, and other countries. Its e-invoicing service generates compliant invoices in more than 30 countries and is a certified Peppol provider. These capabilities make the platform relevant to businesses whose obligations extend beyond sales tax, but EPR registration requires a separate fee quote.

Key features

VAT and sales tax: Tax calculation, registration, and automated filing cover substantial cross-border requirements. Direct VAT submission is useful for businesses that want filing as well as calculation; US sales-tax filing is narrower, covering 37 states.
Mobile app: The app collects sales-channel data, prepares and files returns, tracks thresholds, sends deadline notifications, and displays ten years of sales and return data. That gives operators a way to follow obligations and records away from a desktop.
EPR and e-invoicing: Automated EPR checks and e-invoices across supported countries extend LOVAT beyond conventional tax filing. The WooCommerce integration also calculates taxes and uploads packaging data for EPR obligations.
Integrations: Sales-channel and accounting integrations include Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy, AliExpress, Magento, Stripe, WooCommerce, PayPal, Xero, Chargebee, FreshBooks, and Zoho. E-invoicing also connects with Sage, SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, QuickBooks, and Xero, which can help align invoicing with existing business systems.
Cloud and support: LOVAT requires an internet connection and stores software data on its cloud servers, so it is not suited to offline work. The company says support is available in five languages and answers within five minutes.

Pricing

LOVAT has a free plan, paid plans from €27.00 per month, and a 14-day trial. The free plan allows one data-import integration; that is a low-cost way to start, but offers little headroom for businesses with multiple channels.

The combined Free, Start-up, Standard, and Premium plans scale from 100 to 20,000 transactions per month and from €1,000 to €1,200,000 in monthly transaction value. Start-up costs €27.00 per month and includes one integration and four auto-submits per year. Standard costs €50.00 per month, raises the limits to 1,000 transactions and €100,000, and allows two integrations with four auto-submits yearly. Premium costs €344.00 per month, supports 20,000 transactions and €1,200,000, and includes five integrations and 16 auto-submits yearly. The cheaper paid tiers suit modest volumes, but their quotas and annual submission allowances can constrain busier operations.

Separate VAT and sales-tax plans offer more product-specific limits. Sales tax Start-up is €27.00 per month for 100 transactions, €1,000 transaction value per month, one integration, and four auto-submits yearly; VAT Start-up is €35.00 per month with one integration and the same transaction and value limits. Sales tax Standard is €50.00 per month for 1,000 transactions, €100,000 value, two integrations, and four annual auto-submits; VAT Standard is €65.00 per month with two integrations and those same transaction and value caps. At the top end, Sales tax Premium costs €344.00 per month and includes 20,000 transactions, €1,200,000 value, five integrations, and 16 annual auto-submits. VAT Premium costs €450.00 per month, includes five integrations and €1,200,000 in monthly value, but caps transactions at 10,000.

EPR Tier 1 costs €190.00 per month for one user, up to one ton per year, one integration, four jurisdictions, and one pack credit. EPR Tier 2 is €220.00 per month for three users, up to four tons per year, two integrations, eight jurisdictions, and one pack credit. Neither tier includes EPR registration, which requires a separate fee quote. The EPR tiers therefore need to be assessed alongside registration costs, not as a complete registration-and-reporting price.

Platforms

LOVAT supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. The mobile apps add on-the-go access to sales data, filing tasks, thresholds, deadlines, and long-term records; the cloud requirement means those workflows depend on an internet connection.

Who it's for

LOVAT is a strong fit for cross-border sellers and service providers managing more than one kind of obligation, especially when tax calculation, filings, EPR checks, and e-invoicing all matter. Accounting firms and marketplace facilitators may also benefit from its broad integrations and country coverage. A business with one simple filing need, low tolerance for cloud storage, or EPR registration needs that must be priced upfront may prefer a narrower or more self-contained option.

Pros and cons

Pro: VAT calculation spans more than 100 countries, while combined VAT and sales-tax calculations cover 111 countries and 123 currencies, giving cross-border businesses broad reach.
Pro: Direct VAT submissions, US sales-tax filing, EPR checks, and e-invoicing address several compliance tasks within one platform.
Pro: Mobile tools include threshold tracking, deadline alerts, and ten years of sales and return data, useful for ongoing oversight.
Con: Transaction, value, integration, and auto-submit caps vary by plan, so fast-growing businesses may need to move up tiers as activity rises.
Con: EPR reporting plans exclude registration, whose separate fee quote complicates total-cost planning.
Con: Cloud storage and the internet requirement rule out offline use and may not suit businesses that do not want software data stored on vendor servers.

Alternatives

Tax Compliance Software and VAT Software are useful starting points for comparing services by category. Alphatax is another option, with web, Windows, and API platforms and a free trial.

Kintsugi offers a free API plan for global physical and economic nexus monitoring, exposure and historical-liability auditing, and risk assessment. Tax Series may suit teams considering fixed licensing scoped during a proof of concept; its pricing is custom. TaxBandits has a free plan and trial, with a Basic plan at $19.00 per month and a Plus plan at $29.00 per month.

CCH SureTax offers choices ranging from technology-only to filing and remittance or fully outsourced service, with custom pricing. Avalara AvaTax is an alternative for teams seeking a paid web or API platform; its Core Compliance plan is $79.00 per month and includes annual revenue under $50M and 12,000+ U.S. tax jurisdictions. ONESOURCE Determination is another web-based option.

Verdict

Choose LOVAT if your business sells across borders and needs several of VAT, sales tax, EPR, and e-invoicing handled in a connected service. Its range of country coverage and filing capabilities is the clearest reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if you need offline operation, want EPR registration included in a single quoted price, or expect to outgrow the plan caps quickly.
