Overview

You can prepare a story before playing or begin with one character and build the cast as the story develops. That choice makes Lucid Book useful both for writers arriving with a world in mind and for readers who prefer to discover the story through play. The platform describes its AI as using book-scale context to keep events and characters consistent, an approach aimed at longer, connected narratives. Lucid Book is still labeled beta, so it is a developing product rather than a settled choice for readers who need a mature service.

Stories can be played in any language, according to the site. The Privacy & Cookies Policy page says its document could not be loaded, leaving readers without a usable explanation of the service’s privacy terms.

Key features

Change the story as it unfolds

Players can adjust weather, time, genre, mood, and location during a story. They can also create detailed worlds, define places, and connect characters to locations through roles. These controls give writers and players room to steer the fiction as circumstances change. They will matter less to someone who wants a finished, linear book rather than an interactive experience.

Build characters and share books

Character profiles cover roles, personalities, behavior, interests, and relationships. This gives users several ways to establish how a cast fits together, rather than relying on a basic character prompt. Books can be shared by link or published in a community library, and editing can be locked. Those options suit creators who want to circulate a story while retaining control over changes.

Pricing

Lucid Book uses a freemium model, and its Beta plan is free. The FAQ says users can start without payment and create their first playable book; the beta is currently free. That makes it easy to try the core experience, but the price is tied to beta availability, and no paid tier is established for readers who need a longer-term plan with defined terms.

A free trial is also offered. No trial length or renewal terms are given, so readers should distinguish that trial from the currently free beta rather than assume a particular duration.

Platforms

Lucid Book runs in a web browser and can be installed as a Progressive Web App. It adapts to PC, tablet, and mobile screens, giving readers a way to continue across common screen sizes without a platform-specific app requirement.

Who it's for

Lucid Book is a good fit for writers who want to construct a world and for players who want to alter scenes and character relationships while a story is underway. Its flexible starting point also suits people who are not ready to outline a whole story before beginning. Readers seeking a finished book, a non-beta product, or clear privacy terms should consider another option.
