Overview

Zaklad brings tokens, typography, icons, and components into a managed system that can sync to Figma and production code. Governance workflows and versioning make it more than a one-time export tool: teams can manage system changes and releases in one place. An optional wizard builds a proposed token architecture, role mapping, gap fills, and themes from a brand description. That can speed up initial structuring, though teams should still judge whether the generated system fits their product.

Zaklad says primary application data sits on infrastructure it operates in the EU, connections use HTTPS/TLS, sensitive credentials are encrypted at rest, and API keys are stored as hashes. It also says it does not sell or rent data, use project content to train AI models, or use tracking or advertising cookies. The product is operated by Luke Hawkins, a sole trader registered in the Czech Republic.

Key features

The token editor combines reference graphs, theme filters, lockable groups, and live component previews. These features help users trace token relationships, protect groups from casual edits, and inspect changes in component context. The colour tool accepts OKLCH, HSL, RGBA, and HEX and generates perceptually uniform palettes, giving teams several ways to enter colours while maintaining a consistent palette approach.

Typography scales can generate text styles for both Figma and code. Paid tiers add brand-font hosting through a global CDN, which makes the paid plans more relevant when a team needs its fonts delivered as part of the system rather than managed separately. For icons, users can install libraries such as HeroIcons and Lucide, upload custom libraries, and combine them into an API delivered as code and Figma components.

The Figma plugin syncs variables, text styles, icons, and components. ReactJS and React Native packages are fully typed, with prop names matching Figma, a practical bridge for developers consuming the system. Zaklad also provides an MCP endpoint with read and write access and a DESIGN.md instruction file for AI tools. DTCG JSON import and export support portability, while full-system .zaklad archive exports provide a way to export the system as a whole.

The trade-off is scope. Current development support is React for web and React Native for mobile, and Zaklad says it has no plans for other design-tool integrations at this time. Documentation and the built-in accessibility audit are coming soon, and custom component import remains on the roadmap. Teams that depend on those capabilities should not treat Zaklad as a complete solution for them today. During beta, bugs can be reported through the platform or by email, with fixes targeted within 48 working hours.

Pricing

Zaklad has a free Hobbyist plan and paid plans for individuals, studios, and larger organisations. The listed paid monthly amounts are €9.50 for Individual and €74.50 for Studio.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Hobbyist	Free forever	1 seat, up to 3 private projects, no commercial use, and no font CDN.
Individual	€9.50/month	1 seat, unlimited private projects, commercial use, font CDN hosting, and versioned releases.
Studio	€74.50/month	Unlimited seats and shared projects; for teams and agencies up to 25 people.
Enterprise	Custom pricing	For organisations with 25+ employees; includes SSO/SAML, custom SLAs, custom integrations, and invoice billing.

Hobbyist is useful for personal or non-commercial work, but the three-project cap and lack of font hosting rule it out for commercial delivery. Individual removes the project cap and adds commercial use and versioned releases, while remaining a one-seat plan. Studio is the team option for up to 25 people, with no seat or shared-project limit stated in its plan. Larger organisations can consider Enterprise for its identity, integration, service-level, and billing provisions. The supplied amounts do not state a billing term beyond the monthly price, so buyers should confirm the terms before committing.

Platforms

Zaklad is a cloud service with Android, iOS, and web listed as platforms. Its supported development workflows are React for web and React Native for mobile. The Figma plugin is the stated design-tool integration; teams using a different design tool or development framework should look elsewhere.

Who it's for

Zaklad suits solo designers who need commercial use and versioned releases, as well as design and engineering teams standardising tokens and components across Figma and React-based products. Its typed packages and matching Figma prop names are particularly relevant when designers and developers need to share component conventions. It is a weaker choice for non-React stacks, teams requiring another design-tool integration, or organisations that need a built-in accessibility audit or mature documentation now.

Pros and cons

Pros: Figma sync covers variables, text styles, icons, and components, reducing the gap between the design system and implementation.
Pros: Typed React and React Native packages with Figma-matched prop names give developers a more consistent handoff.
Pros: DTCG JSON and full-system archive exports provide both a standard token exchange format and a complete system export.
Cons: React and React Native are the supported development platforms, limiting teams with other stacks.
Cons: Documentation and the accessibility audit are still coming soon, while custom component import remains on the roadmap.
Cons: The free plan excludes commercial use and font CDN hosting, and is limited to one seat and three private projects.

Alternatives

Design System Software is the broader category to browse if Zaklad's workflow or platform limits do not fit.

Particles UI is worth considering for people who want local token management and export to work without an account, with an MIT-licensed CLI.
zeroheight may suit teams prioritising a web-based styleguide and token set; its free plan includes one editor, one styleguide, one token set, and 500 MCP Standard Search calls per month.
Superposition is a free desktop-app alternative for MacOS, Windows, and Linux users.
Terrazzo is a free, MIT-licensed open-source option for teams that prefer open tools.
Bezel is another freemium option; its free plan includes 75 AI credits, one project, one theme, and 1,000 design tokens, but it is not yet open for signup.
Carbon Design System is a free open-source system for anyone to use and contribute to, with no paid tiers stated.
Luro may be a better fit for a workflow centred on source files, editors, viewers, and pages; its Starter plan includes one editor, one source file, 10 viewers, and 20 pages.
Spec Layer is another freemium option, with a free plan capped at one Figma file and 10 publishing updates per month.

Verdict

Choose Zaklad if you need a shared token and component system that connects Figma to React or React Native code, and its Individual or Studio plan matches your seat and project needs. Its strongest reason to buy is the joined-up design-to-code workflow; look elsewhere if your stack or design tool falls outside its supported scope, or if you need the accessibility audit and documentation before adopting a platform.
