Overview

Mathos AI presents itself as a personal AI math solver designed to make personalized education more accessible. It covers a broad range of subjects and accepts both photographed and handwritten work, so students can start with the problem in front of them instead of retyping it.

The service is more than an answer engine. Flashcards, quizzes, graphing, PDF homework help, a calculator and an AI whiteboard create a path from solving a problem to practicing the underlying skill. That breadth favors regular study; someone who only needs an occasional calculation may not use enough of it to justify a paid plan.

Key features

Guided solutions

For a problem, Mathos can offer one hint, a full worked solution or a re-explanation. This lets a learner choose between a nudge and a complete walkthrough, rather than being forced into one level of assistance.

Whiteboard tutoring

AI Tutor follows a learner’s work on the whiteboard and gives real-time coaching when it detects a mistake. That is more useful for building process than simply revealing the final result, although it depends on the learner actually working in the whiteboard environment.

Practice and visual tools

Flashcards and quizzes support repeated review, while graphing and auto-drawn graphs help connect equations with visual representations. PDF homework help and a calculator extend the service to longer assignments. Mathos says video generation produces a first frame in 5–10 seconds and keeps generated artifacts editable, a practical advantage when a learner wants to refine a visual explanation.

Adaptive learning

The adaptive system looks for patterns in mistakes, addresses missing prerequisites and then moves the learner back toward more advanced material. That approach is aimed at closing gaps instead of repeatedly treating symptoms, making it better suited to ongoing study than one-off homework checking.

Privacy and support

Mathos says it does not process sensitive personal information, but its privacy notice permits collection of account, usage, device and location data. User input, output and personal information may be shared with third-party AI providers, including OpenAI, to deliver the AI products. Technical and organizational safeguards are described, with no guarantee of complete security. Support is provided at support@mathos.ai.

Pricing

The Free plan is free, needs no card and includes limited MathosPro, six video minutes per day, limited image input, flashcards and quizzes, auto-drawn graphs, related questions and videos, and question history. It is suitable for trying the workflow, but the daily video and input caps constrain regular visual study. A 3-day trial is offered.

Basic costs 5.98 USD per month, billed $/week. It adds unlimited MathosPro, 100 MathosMax uses per day, 15 video minutes per day, unlimited image input, limited voice input and extended limits on advanced models. This fits students who use photos frequently and need more than the free allowance, but MathosMax, video and voice remain capped.

Prime costs 9.98 USD per month, billed $/week. It includes Basic, unlimited MathosMax, 30 video minutes per day, 20× the PDF Helper quota, unlimited voice input and no limits on advanced models. It is the better individual tier for intensive, mixed-media study; the higher price mainly buys capacity and removes model and voice restrictions.

Enterprise has custom pricing. It includes Prime plus centralized administration and seat management, SSO and roster sync, usage analytics and reporting, volume licensing, custom limits, and dedicated support and onboarding. It is the appropriate choice for institutions rather than individual learners.

Platforms

Mathos AI is available on the web, Android and iOS, with a Chrome extension. The browser and extension options suit desktop homework, while the mobile apps make photo and handwriting input practical away from a computer.

Who it's for

Choose Mathos AI for learners who want explanations, adaptive practice and whiteboard coaching in one service, especially when problems arrive as images or handwriting. It also fits schools that need SSO, roster synchronization and usage reporting. It is less compelling for occasional users who need only a basic solver, or for organizations unwilling to share AI inputs and personal information with third-party providers.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple explanation levels support both hints and full learning walkthroughs.
Pros: Photo and handwriting input reduce retyping, while graphing, PDFs, quizzes and flashcards broaden study use.
Pros: Whiteboard coaching and adaptive remediation focus on mistakes and prerequisites, not just answers.
Cons: The free tier’s six daily video minutes and limited image input restrict sustained visual work.
Cons: Basic and Prime are shown as monthly prices but billed $/week, a term readers should verify before subscribing.
Cons: AI data may be shared with providers such as OpenAI, and complete security is not guaranteed.

Alternatives

Math Solver Apps is the broader directory for comparing solver options. Mathos AI (MathGPTPro) is another freemium Mathos entry with Android, iOS, web and extension access and a more limited free offering. Photomath is the better fit for a focused Android or iOS scanner with free step-by-step explanations. CameraMath suits users wanting photo, screenshot, handwritten, text and calculator inputs across web and mobile. Stimy offers free homework help and self-study on Android and iOS, with AI+ promoted separately. AI-Math is a web-only alternative whose free plan allows 10 questions per day. Amend is an iOS option centered on monthly checks and a BoardTutor Plus tier. GeoGebra is the choice for a broad, open-source graphing environment across desktop, mobile and web. MathPad offers cross-platform access with daily credits and an AI Tutor trial allowance.

Verdict

Mathos AI is a strong choice for students who want one place for image-based solving, explanations, adaptive practice and whiteboard coaching, and for schools needing enterprise controls. Look elsewhere if you need only occasional answers, unrestricted free use, or tighter control over sharing AI inputs with third parties.
