Overview

Meslingo brings together an AI tutor, structured flashcards, community tools and an Exam Center covering 14 certificates. The free plan is unusually broad for a freemium service: it includes all four skills, mini-games, vocabulary and grammar flashcards, chat, video calls, community participation, lesson creation and sharing, and ways to earn AI credits. That makes it a credible starting point rather than a short demonstration.

The service is made by Meslingo in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Accounts use an email, password and one-time verification code, and users can delete their account from the app settings. Meslingo says people can report or block other users and that reported content is reviewed and removed when it violates rules within 24 hours.

Key features

Speaking and AI feedback

The AI tutor supports lip-synced video calls, personalized role-plays, pronunciation feedback and chat that corrects grammar. This combination is a good fit for learners who need to produce language, not just recognise it in quizzes. Role-play is particularly useful when a learner wants practice shaped around a situation rather than a fixed lesson.

AI functions consume credits. Credits can be earned through studying, tournaments and events, or bought as one-time packs. The result is a meaningful usage constraint: Pro supplies a monthly allowance, but heavy users may still need to manage activity or purchase more credits.

Vocabulary, writing and exams

Flashcards use spaced repetition, audio, example sentences and mastery tracking, with handwriting practice across multiple writing systems. That gives learners a better route to durable recall than a basic word list, and makes the product more suitable for scripts that require writing practice.

The Exam Center contains 460-plus structured units and AI grading for exam practice. Pro+ adds the full Exam Center and mock tests with AI scoring, so it is the plan with a clear advantage for certificate candidates. Learners who only want general practice do not receive the same exam-focused return from upgrading.

Community learning

Translated chat, one-to-one video calls, language-partner matching, shared decks and weekly tournaments add social practice and reasons to return. These tools suit learners who value conversation and accountability, while users seeking a private, self-directed course may find the community layer unnecessary.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	Free	All four skills, 6-plus mini-games, vocabulary and grammar flashcards, chat, video calls, community, lesson creation and sharing, and earned AI credits.
Pro	3.99 USD per month	Everything in Free plus 500 AI credits per month; credits refill monthly.
Pro+	6.79 USD per month	Everything in Pro, 888 AI credits per month, the full Exam Center with 14 certificates and 460-plus units, and AI-scored mock tests.

Monthly prices are shown for Pro and Pro+. The service says six-month billing saves about 6% and yearly billing 12%. The free plan is the sensible choice for occasional AI use or general study. Pro fits regular learners who mainly need a larger recurring AI allowance. Pro+ is the stronger value for exam candidates, provided they will use the additional credits and exam material; otherwise its premium is difficult to justify.

Platforms

Meslingo runs on Android, iOS and the web. The browser version at Meslingo.ai is the no-download option, while App Store and Google Play links cover mobile use. Its infrastructure relies on services including Google Gemini and Vertex AI, Firebase, Apple App Store and Google Play.

Who it's for

Choose Meslingo if you want speaking, writing and vocabulary practice in one place, or if your target is one of the certificates in the Exam Center. It also suits families with children, school learners and teachers running classes, thanks to shared lessons and community functions. It is less suitable for someone who wants unlimited AI conversation without monitoring a credit balance.

Pros and cons

Pros

Broad free tier: core skills, games, flashcards, social tools and lesson sharing are included at no cost.
Genuine speaking variety: video calls, role-plays, pronunciation feedback and corrected chat address different production needs.
Serious exam scope: Pro+ combines 14 certificates, 460-plus units and AI-scored mocks.
Writing support: handwriting practice and multiple writing systems complement audio and spaced repetition.

Cons

AI is metered: regular use can exhaust monthly credits, requiring earned credits or one-time purchases.
Exam access is gated: the full Exam Center and mock scoring require Pro+.
Community is optional overhead: learners wanting a strictly private course may not benefit from matching, tournaments or shared decks.

Alternatives

Browse Language learning apps for a wider comparison. Pick Duolingo instead if you prefer a freemium app available on Android, iOS, macOS and the web with a free plan and a one-week trial. Innovative Language Learning is the better choice for free lessons and transcripts with Windows support, while its Basic plan costs 8.00 USD per month.

JapanesePod101 is a focused alternative for Japanese learners. Choose Talktiko if a one-language free tier with three lessons per day and basic text-to-speech suits you. Langua offers defined daily chat and Call Mode allowances on its Standard option. Tandem is an alternative centred on language-partner learning. Lingora offers individual-language course tiers, and Busuu provides free and paid plans with premium learning features.

Verdict

Meslingo is a strong choice for learners who want AI speaking practice, structured review and community interaction without paying upfront, especially when a covered certificate is the goal. Start with Free, move to Pro for sustained AI practice, and choose Pro+ only when its Exam Center and mock scoring matter. Look elsewhere if unlimited AI use or a narrowly focused, private course is more important than Meslingo's all-in-one range.
