Overview

Marvel supports wireframes, mockups and website or app prototypes for different devices, all created in a browser. Teams can arrange projects in folders, set up distinct teams and discuss work through comments and annotations. That makes it a sensible fit when design review is part of the same process as prototyping, rather than a standalone drawing tool.

Handoff generates downloadable assets and CSS, Swift and Android XML, and keeps them synchronized with design changes. The GraphQL API covers project data, designs, prototypes, interactions, collaborators, comments and beta user testing. Integrations include Sketch, Jira, Confluence, Dropbox Paper, Microsoft Teams, YouTube, Niice, Smartmockups and Zeroheight. The breadth helps connect Marvel to other team workflows, though it does not replace a desktop app for people who require one.

Key features

Prototypes, feedback and mobile

Interactive prototypes can present realistic interactions without code, giving teams a way to review flows before implementation. Comments and annotations keep feedback tied to the work. Marvel's mobile apps can create, play and share prototypes, with offline viewing and Sketch syncing; that makes them useful for reviewing away from a browser, though they do not change the browser-based nature of the design workspace.

Handoff and integrations

Handoff's synchronized assets and code outputs can reduce the mismatch between a changing design and the materials passed to developers. CSS, Swift and Android XML cover common web and mobile targets. The GraphQL API and listed integrations add routes into project data and neighboring tools, which is valuable for teams building Marvel into an existing process rather than treating it as an isolated workspace.

Enterprise controls

Enterprise features include SSO, IP restrictions, access logs, user permissions and project-level password protection. Marvel says its infrastructure is EU hosted and GDPR compliant, with data centers holding SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3 and ISO27001 certifications. It also says traffic uses 256-bit SSL/TLS 1.2 encryption in transit and data is encrypted at rest. A 99.98% uptime SLA and 24/7 global support coverage are relevant for organizations with operational requirements, but these controls sit on the Enterprise plan.

Pricing

Marvel uses a freemium model, with a 7-day trial and paid plans from $12/user/mo (annual). The free tier is useful for a solo trial, but its one-user, one-project cap is a hard ceiling for parallel work. Downgrading to Free leaves only one project active and makes other projects inactive, so it is not a safe long-term home for a larger portfolio.

Plan	Price	What it includes	Best fit
Free	0.00 USD per free	1 user, 1 project	A first look or a single small project.
Pro	12.00 USD per month (billed billed yearly)	1 user, unlimited projects, 3 active user tests, prototype/design downloads and removal of Marvel branding	An individual who needs multiple projects and downloads but does not need teammates in the plan.
Team	42.00 USD per month (billed billed yearly)	Starts at 3 users, unlimited projects, 10 active user tests, prototype/design downloads, removal of Marvel branding and premium support	A small team that needs shared capacity and more active tests.
Enterprise	Custom pricing	Unlimited users and projects, advanced security settings, SSO and custom billing	Organizations needing scale, security controls or tailored billing.

Pro is the economical step up for one person, but it does not add seats. Team starts at three users and costs more, while adding seven more active user tests than Pro and premium support. Enterprise is the relevant tier for SSO and advanced security; the published plan summary does not give a price, so organizations should expect custom pricing.

Platforms

Marvel is available on Android, iOS and the web, and offers an API. There is no desktop app. The mobile apps broaden prototype creation and review, while the web platform remains the place to use Marvel's browser-based design workflow.

Who it's for

Marvel is strongest for solo designers moving beyond a single project and for small product teams that want prototyping, contextual feedback and developer handoff in one workflow. Teams with multiple concurrent projects should budget for Pro or Team rather than rely on Free. Larger organizations may value the Enterprise security and support terms. It is a weaker fit for users who require desktop software or need more than one person on the Pro plan.

Pros and cons

Pros

Design through handoff in one workspace: wireframes, interactive prototypes and synchronized developer outputs connect early design work to implementation.
Feedback stays close to projects: folders, teams, comments and annotations support organized review rather than detached feedback.
Broad integration and API options: listed integrations and a GraphQL API give teams ways to connect Marvel with other tools and project data.
Clear enterprise provisions: security controls, stated certifications, uptime SLA and round-the-clock global support address organizational needs.

Cons

Free is narrow: one user and one project limit its value beyond evaluation or a single small effort; other projects become inactive after downgrading.
Pro remains single-user: unlimited projects do not make it a team plan, so collaboration requires the higher Team tier.
No desktop app: users who require native desktop design software should look elsewhere.
Enterprise costs are custom: buyers cannot assess the price from the plan terms alone.

Alternatives

If Marvel's connected workflow is not the right match, consider these alternatives:

Zeplin Flows is worth considering for teams wanting a free flow plan with one project, up to 100 screens and unlimited members across Linux, macOS, web and Windows; its free tier excludes Flow Boards.
FlowSnap is a mobile-oriented alternative for Android, iOS and macOS users who want up to three free projects and PNG export, accepting a watermark on those exports.
Figr may suit users who want a web or extension-based option with API access and a free allowance of 10 monthly-refreshing credits, three canvases and export to Figma.
Rheo is a different option for mobile product teams focused on app channels, with a free plan that includes one app, one seat and 400 MAU, but no experiments.
BenchCanvas is an option for browser and extension users seeking comments, annotations and unbranded sharing; its Pro plan is marked coming soon.
Slickplan is another web-based option with API access and a free trial; its Basic plan is 10.79 USD per month billed annually for one user and three active projects.
Wireflow is a free, MIT-licensed web and self-hosted alternative, suitable for readers who value open-source software and forking over Marvel's integrated handoff workflow.
Overflow is an alternative for teams seeking a paid macOS, web or Windows option with cloud sharing, folders and comments; its Pro plan is 19.95 EUR per user/month.
User Flow Software is a broader category to browse when flow mapping is the priority.
Web Design Software is the relevant category for comparing tools centered on web design.
Prototyping Software offers a broader comparison for interactive prototype work.
Developer Handoff Software is useful when passing design specifications to developers is the main requirement.
UI design tools is a category to explore for interface-design alternatives.
Game UI Design Software is the category to consult for game interface work.

Verdict

Choose Marvel if you want one browser-based process for wireframing, interactive review and developer handoff, especially as a solo designer on Pro or a small team on Team. Its synchronized implementation outputs and collaboration features are the strongest reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if the one-project Free cap, single-user Pro plan or lack of a desktop app conflicts with how you work.
