Overview

Voloco pairs an iPhone and Android vocal-recording app with a vocal-processing plugin for desktop DAWs. It suits singers building vocal-led tracks on a phone and producers who want a dedicated vocal tool in an existing DAW; the main trade-off is a five-effect free mobile tier and paid desktop plans.

Key features

The mobile app combines real-time correction, formant control, and scale or key detection with a library of more than 70 vocal effects, including harmonies, vocoders, and creative treatments. That breadth gives singers room to shape a sound beyond basic tuning, but only five effects are included in the free plan, so users wanting the wider palette must pay.

Voloco Studio supports up to eight vocal layers, each with separate volume, pan, and effect controls. That makes it useful for stacking harmonies or building a layered performance without leaving the app. BeatStars integration lets users browse, preview, and license beats in the app, a practical fit for creating around licensed backing tracks.

The app can use AI to split an imported song into vocal and backing-track stems on the phone. That can help users work with the parts separately, while MP3 exports suit sharing and WAV exports suit handoff to a professional mixing workflow.

Voloco Producer brings vocal processing into a DAW as a plugin, with a resynthesizer, editable harmony grid, and sequencer. It is the relevant option for producers who prefer working on desktop rather than recording entirely in a mobile app. The plugin requires macOS 11 on 64-bit Intel or Apple Silicon, or Windows 10 on 64-bit Intel or AMD; older systems and other processor architectures fall outside those requirements.

Pricing

The free mobile app costs 0.00 USD per free and is available for iPhone and Android. Its five-effect cap makes it a sensible starting point for trying the mobile workflow, but it is restrictive for anyone who wants to explore the broader effects library.

Producer Monthly costs 14.99 USD per month, billed monthly, and includes a 14-day free trial, VST3/AAX/AU/Standalone downloads, and over 50 free vocal presets. It fits producers who want the plugin for a shorter commitment or want to evaluate it before continuing. Producer Yearly costs 99.99 USD per year, billed yearly, shown as $8.33 / mo, reduced from $179.99, and includes the same trial, download formats, and preset allowance. Its lower monthly equivalent favors producers planning to keep using the plugin for a year, while requiring an annual commitment rather than monthly billing. The free mobile plan and paid Producer plans have different scopes: the desktop plugin is what the listed subscriptions include.

Platforms

The mobile app is available on Android and iOS, while Voloco Producer supports macOS and Windows within its stated system requirements. The combination can suit users moving between phone recording and desktop DAW processing, but the desktop plugin is not a fit for unsupported operating systems or processor architectures.

Who it's for

Voloco is best for singers and independent creators who want tuning, vocal effects, layered recording, beat access, and stem separation in a phone-based workflow. It also suits DAW producers seeking a vocal-focused plugin with harmony and sequencing tools. It is less compelling for mobile users who need more than five effects but do not want a paid option, or producers whose computers miss the plugin requirements.

Pros and cons

Pros: Up to eight independently controlled vocal layers support stacked performances; on-phone stem separation and BeatStars access bring useful parts of a vocal-track workflow together.
Pros: MP3 and WAV exports accommodate sharing and further mixing, while desktop plugin formats cover several common DAW workflows.
Cons: The free mobile app includes only five effects despite a much larger effects library, limiting experimentation without payment.
Cons: Producer is sold separately through monthly or yearly plans, and its system requirements exclude older or unsupported computers.
Cons: RC may collect identifiers, subscription order history, user content including voice recordings, device information, and internet activity. The company says it limits access and makes commercially reasonable security efforts, but cannot guarantee security; users can request access, correction, or deletion by email or delete an account in the app or website.

Verdict

Choose Voloco if you want mobile vocal recording with effects, layered takes, beat licensing, and stem separation, or a companion DAW plugin for vocal processing. Its integrated mobile workflow is the strongest reason to pick it; look elsewhere if five free effects are too limiting, the Producer subscription does not fit your budget, or your computer misses the plugin requirements.
