Overview

Membermojo is membership administration software for clubs, associations and charities that want to bring applications, records, renewals and payments into one service. It is a strong fit for volunteer-run groups that need members to maintain their own details and administrators to share responsibility. The trade-off is a web-only service with some useful integrations held back for higher-priced plans.

Key features

Every plan includes a membership database, renewal reminders, mailing lists, a member directory, attendance register and membership card images, alongside PayPal and offline payments. This is a practical core for organisations replacing spreadsheets and manual renewal chasing, though the inclusion of online payments does not mean payment processing is free: PayPal or Stripe fees are separate.

Administrators can create individual or family membership levels, set renewals by financial year or application date, and require approval or a joining fee before payment. Custom fields accommodate information such as emergency contacts, medical details and private administrator notes. Members can update their own records, while administrators can sort and filter entries in a spreadsheet-like view, set view or edit permissions and share the work across multiple administrators.

Records can be imported from Access, Excel or similar applications, and the full database can be downloaded as a spreadsheet. Membermojo supports PayPal and Stripe, with payments going directly to the organisation's own payment account. Stripe, Mailchimp, the member store and phone wallet cards require the £95/year plan or higher; that makes the £50.00 GBP per year tier less complete for groups that depend on those capabilities.

The member portal works through the web service on PCs, tablets and phones, allowing members to join, renew or update details without a dedicated mobile app. Membermojo says data is held in UK data centres with real-time mirroring and hourly encrypted backups to a second UK data centre; its hosting companies are ISO27001 certified. It also says card and account details do not pass through its systems, TLS is provided through Cloudflare, and stored passwords are one-way encrypted with a modern multi-pass hash and unique salt.

Pricing

Membermojo uses annual, member-count-based pricing. The free plan is capped at 50 members and renews annually; it is a sensible starting point for a small group, but the cap counts paid and pending members and retained lapsed-member records. Download-only archive records are excluded. Exceeding the limit prompts an upgrade, so a club approaching 50 should account for inactive records it still retains.

The paid annual tiers are 50.00 GBP per year for up to 100 members, 95.00 GBP per year for up to 500, 175.00 GBP per year for up to 1,000, 300.00 GBP per year for up to 2,000, and 475.00 GBP per year for up to 5,000. The 10,000-member tier is 635.00 GBP per year. Prices are inclusive of VAT. The 100-member tier is the least expensive paid option, but it excludes Stripe, Mailchimp, the member store and phone wallet cards; organisations needing those should budget for at least the £95/year tier. Payment processor fees apply separately.

A fully functional 60-day trial requires no payment details until conversion and carries no commitment, giving committees time to assess whether the workflows suit them before paying. A support contact route and phone number, 01306 257977, are provided.

Platforms

Membermojo is web-based rather than a native mobile app. Members and administrators can access it from a PC, tablet or phone, which covers common device needs but may not suit organisations that require a dedicated app.

Who it's for

Small and mid-sized clubs, associations and charities are the natural audience, particularly those with recurring renewals, multiple administrators and a desire to move from a spreadsheet or older database. Individual and family membership options and approval workflows also make it suitable for groups with more than one membership type. It is less compelling for organisations that need a native app or need Stripe and Mailchimp while staying on the 100-member paid tier.

Pros and cons

Pros: The free tier covers up to 50 members, and a 60-day full-featured trial does not require payment details up front.
Pros: Core records, renewals, member self-service and administration tools are bundled across plans, with import and spreadsheet export supporting migration and portability.
Pros: The organisation controls its payment account, and the maker describes UK-based backup and credential protections.
Cons: The service is web-only, so there is no native app for groups that want one.
Cons: Stripe and Mailchimp are not included at the 100-member tier; the member store and phone wallet cards also require a plan at £95/year or higher.
Cons: Member limits include pending and retained lapsed members, which can force an upgrade even when the active membership is smaller.

Raklet is worth considering if a free plan with a mobile app matters: its free tier covers 100 contacts, one admin seat and 1,250 free emails per month.
memberplanet offers a Basic plan with unlimited members and admins; consider it when those uncapped quantities matter more than Membermojo's published tiers.
Mybers is an alternative with a free Starter plan for unlimited members and 500 emails per month.
Clubworx has a free plan for up to 20 active members that includes online booking, payments, emails and SMS, self check-in and attendance tracking.
WildApricot may suit buyers seeking a paid membership service with a 100-contact plan and full customer support.
PushPress has a free plan with unlimited leads, admins, members and staff, but charges transaction fees.
Memberly offers a free plan for 10 members, with three active events, one donation campaign and one active survey.
MembershipWorks has a free plan for 50 accounts and a paid tier for up to 300 accounts at 35.00 USD per month.

Verdict

Membermojo is a sound choice for clubs and charities that want member self-service, renewal administration and core payment collection in one web service, with a genuinely usable free starting point and clear annual member-count tiers. Choose it for that focused membership workflow; look elsewhere if a native app is essential or if your organisation needs Stripe and Mailchimp without moving to the £95/year-and-up plans.
