Overview

ReplayDojo combines replay playback with coaching rather than treating a match as a video file alone. Age of Empires II receives the most fully described treatment, while Dota 2 gets a detailed 3D match view; StarCraft II is supported, but fewer game-specific capabilities are described. The service is fan-made and independent of Microsoft and Valve, and its terms present analysis as an as-is aid that can be incomplete or inaccurate.

Key features

Age of Empires II users upload .aoe2record files. ReplayDojo reconstructs the recorded command stream on a map, with drag-to-pan and scroll-to-zoom controls. Automated coaching examines build orders, age-up timings, army composition, and economy. That combination is useful for players diagnosing both mechanical execution and strategic choices, although coaching should be treated as guidance rather than an authoritative verdict because replay-derived analysis may miss or misread events.

Dota 2 supports .dem and .dem.bz2 uploads. A player can also enter a match ID or paste a Dotabuff, OpenDota, or STRATZ link; ReplayDojo says it retrieves the replay from Valve. Its 3D viewer places the action on the real game map and exposes hero movement, last hits, vision, runes, Roshan, and teamfights. This is a strong fit for reviewing rotations, farming patterns, and major engagements in context, rather than relying on a flat statistic summary.

ReplayDojo also provides a StarCraft II replay tool, making the service broader than its most detailed Age of Empires II and Dota 2 workflows. Uploaded files are processed on ReplayDojo servers, and parsed data may be retained so a replay remains viewable through its link. Links are unguessable but not access-controlled, so possession of a link can be enough to view a match. Deletion requests can be sent to hello@replaydojo.com. Aggregate analytics are not used to create advertising profiles or sold, and payment-card data is handled by the payment processor where payments are offered.

Pricing

The ReplayDojo plan is free and provides browser-based replay analysis tools. No specific usage quota is stated, so it is the natural starting point for occasional players and a low-risk way to explore the coaching workflow. It does not offer a paid tier in this plan, and there is no stated seat count, renewal charge, or trial conversion to manage. Players with heavy replay archives should still consider that an explicit upload allowance is not provided.

Platforms

ReplayDojo runs on the web. A browser-based workflow avoids a desktop installation and supports replay analysis from any compatible computer, while the server-processing model means uploaded files and parsed data leave the local machine.

Who it's for

Choose ReplayDojo if you play one of its three supported games and want automated, game-data-based coaching at no cost. Age of Empires II players gain the clearest strategic breakdown, and Dota 2 players get unusually rich map playback and several ways to import a match. It is less suitable for confidential tournaments, team reviews requiring controlled permissions, or anyone who needs guaranteed analytical accuracy. Players who want local-only processing should also look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros

Free access: the browser tools cost nothing, with no paid subscription required.
Useful Age of Empires II coaching: build orders, age timings, armies, and economy connect replay events to actionable review topics.
Detailed Dota 2 playback: a 3D map view includes movement, last hits, vision, runes, Roshan, and teamfights.
Flexible Dota 2 imports: uploads, match IDs, and several community links cover common replay sources.

Cons

Unrestricted link access: links are hard to guess but do not limit who can view a replay once it is shared.
Server-side retention: parsed data may remain stored to keep replay links working.
Analysis caveat: the service warns that replay-derived coaching can be incomplete or inaccurate.
Uneven game detail: StarCraft II is supported, but fewer specific viewing and coaching capabilities are described.

Alternatives

DataCoach is a better choice for players who want structured training plans, progression tracking, and a free allowance of 10 monthly replays plus 10 chat tokens. ReplayLabs suits teams or developers needing web and API access, with a 3.99 EUR monthly Starter plan covering 50 uploads and reprocess requests per week and 14-day detailed retention. Freezetime is the alternative for Linux, macOS, or self-hosted use, with a public archive and a full self-hosted studio at no per-use cost. CaptureAge is for Windows-based Age of Empires II users who want a dedicated viewer, while its free tier omits timeline control, special camera controls, advanced statistics graphs, and custom skins. CS2 Demo Analysis Kit targets Counter-Strike 2 users seeking a free desktop and open-source ecosystem. Gamescan is preferable when paid AI coaching chat and multi-game Super Mode matter more than an entirely free plan. ballchasing.com fits Rocket League replay libraries and API workflows, with a free allowance of 70 replays per week. CARL2 Analysis Tool is a free Windows companion for Rocket League analysis.

Verdict

ReplayDojo is an easy recommendation for players of Age of Empires II or Dota 2 who want substantial replay viewing and automated coaching without paying. Its main reason to look elsewhere is privacy and control: server processing, retained parsed data, and non-access-controlled links make it a poor fit for sensitive matches or strictly local analysis.
