Overview

Nearcut brings scheduled appointments and walk-ins into one system, with cancellation notifications that may help a shop fill an empty slot. Its payment options also let businesses collect all or part of a payment when a booking is made, which gives barbers a way to reduce no-shows. That combination is useful for shops managing both the diary and the risk of missed appointments; it is less compelling for a business seeking a completely free booking experience for clients.

Nearcut says it has served barbers since 2015. The service is available on web, Android and iOS, and includes a client mobile app. It can also create a custom app for a business in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Key features

Booking and retention

Customers can book around a barber’s availability, while the system also handles walk-ins. When a booking is cancelled, Nearcut can notify interested customers, offering a practical chance to fill the newly open appointment. Recurring bookings are supported, which is useful for clients who keep a regular schedule.

Payments and communication

Businesses can take full or partial payment at booking, online or offline, to protect against no-shows. The Free for You plan includes automatic email confirmations and reminders, plus unlimited SMS reminders for online bookings. Optional online payments and deposits have zero transaction fees on that plan, though clients pay a small booking charge at checkout. After a client gives 5-star feedback on Nearcut, the system prompts them to leave a Google review, a focused way to encourage public feedback without treating every customer interaction as a review request.

Shop discovery and support

Both plans include Facebook and Instagram “Book Now” integration, giving shops a way to connect social profiles to bookings. Free for You includes a personal account manager; the subscription calculator describes a personal business advisor. These support options may appeal to owners who want an identified contact, though they do not change the central plan trade-off: client booking charges versus a monthly subscription.

Pricing

Nearcut uses a freemium model, with a free plan and a 30-day subscription trial. The two plans are aimed at different operating stages, not simply different levels of feature access.

Plan	Price and terms	Best fit
Free for You	0.00 GBP per free; billed £0.00 / month. No monthly bill. The client pays a small booking charge at checkout, refunded if the client cancels. Optional online payments and deposits have zero transaction fees.	Businesses starting out or operating solo, especially those willing to pass a booking charge to clients rather than take on a monthly bill.
Subscription	Custom pricing, billed monthly according to the barbershop’s needs. The calculator shows £00.00 / month + VAT. Flat fee, no client booking charge, optional Business Boosters, and a 30-day free trial.	Established or growing barbershops that prefer a flat fee and do not want clients to pay a booking charge.

The free plan’s lack of a monthly bill is attractive for a solo operation, but the client charge can make it a poor fit if the shop wants booking to feel cost-free to customers. Subscription removes that charge, but its needs-based price makes the monthly commitment harder to compare in advance. The trial lasts 30 days; there is no setup fee, and after the trial the subscription can be cancelled or changed without a long-term commitment.

Platforms

Nearcut supports web, Android and iOS. The client mobile app and option for a custom business app give shops mobile booking routes in addition to the online booking page.

Who it's for

Nearcut is a strong match for a barber working alone who wants a no-monthly-bill starting point, and for a growing shop that values appointment reminders, deposits and cancellation recovery. Shops that want clients to avoid checkout charges should weigh the subscription instead. It is less suited to businesses outside barbering, since the product is designed specifically around barbershops.

Pros and cons

Pros: Walk-ins, online appointments, recurring bookings and cancellation notifications are handled together, helping shops manage more than a standard appointment diary.
Pros: The Free for You plan has no monthly bill and includes unlimited SMS reminders for online bookings, with zero transaction fees for optional online payments and deposits.
Pros: Both plans include Facebook and Instagram “Book Now” integration, while the subscription removes the client booking charge.
Cons: Free for You passes a small booking charge to clients, which may be unwelcome even though it is refunded if they cancel.
Cons: Subscription pricing is custom, so shops cannot compare its monthly cost from a single published figure.

Alternatives

For a broader set of barbershop scheduling options, compare Barbershop Scheduling Software. Choose theCut if its client discovery and payment-processing approach is a better fit: its free plan charges 2.75% for payment processing and $10 per client for discovery. Pronto offers a free tier capped at 1 staff member, 100 clients, 50 bookings per month and 100 products, making those quotas useful to weigh against Nearcut’s client booking charge. Reservio is another freemium option, with its free plan limited to 40 bookings per 30 days and 100 clients.

Barberly is a paid alternative with a free trial. Openfront Law Firm is another directory option. Barbs has a free plan for one barber, with unlimited queue and walk-ins, POS and receipts, and 15 online bookings per day. StyleSeat is paid, with a free trial and a plan covering unlimited bookings and calendar for up to 15 chairs. Booksy is paid, with a plan at 29.99 USD per month + tax; additional users cost $20/month each, while payment processing and hardware are excluded.

Verdict

Nearcut is a sensible choice for barbers who want appointments, walk-ins, reminders and no-show protection in one barber-focused platform. Its strongest case is the free plan for a solo shop that accepts a client booking charge, or the subscription for a growing shop that wants to remove it. Look elsewhere if clients must never pay a booking charge and the shop cannot justify a custom-priced monthly plan.
