Overview

Mixmax is a sales engagement platform that brings outreach and follow-up workflows into Gmail and Outlook. It suits revenue teams coordinating prospecting, meetings, and CRM activity; its main trade-off is that it works only with those two email providers.

Sequences can combine follow-up emails, tasks, and scheduled calls, while tracking, rules, and CRM sync connect engagement to next steps. The feature set is broad, but monthly sequence-recipient caps make plan choice important for teams with sustained outreach volume.

Key features

Users can build multi-stage sequences with merge-variable personalization and CSV uploads. Sequences can include emails, tasks, and scheduled calls, making Mixmax more suited to organized sales follow-up than to occasional one-off tracking. Multichannel outreach and reply detection support that workflow, although sending may be limited to 1,000 emails per user per day to avoid Google or Microsoft rate limits.

Real-time open and click tracking comes with desktop notifications. The Free plan's 20 tracked emails per month is a meaningful constraint for regular prospecting; paid plans raise tracking to unlimited. Scheduling links let recipients pick a time and add the meeting to both calendars, reducing the handoff between outreach and booking.

Rules can create Salesforce tasks after email opens or add recipients to sequences when deal stages change. Mixmax also syncs emails, meetings, and sequence activity to Salesforce or HubSpot. More than 40 native integrations are included on every plan, so integration access is not reserved for higher tiers. The trade-off is that its stated CRM sync is centered on Salesforce and HubSpot.

Mixmax states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified, HIPAA compliant, GDPR and CPRA compliant, and audited by Google. It encrypts data at rest with AES-256-GCM and in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher. Support includes a Help Center, support messenger, email support, and the Maxine AI assistant in the web app, available 24/7.

Pricing

Mixmax is freemium, with a 14-day free trial and paid plans starting at 29.00 USD per user per month billed annually. The monthly-billed prices are higher where provided, so the annual rates require a longer commitment.

Free: 0.00 USD per free, with 20 tracked emails per month and up to 50 sequence recipients per month. It is useful for trying basic outreach, but the tracking and recipient caps are restrictive for ongoing prospecting.
Inbox Copilot: 29.00 USD per month billed annually, or $34/mo monthly. It adds unlimited email tracking, but allows up to 100 sequence recipients per month. This fits individuals prioritizing tracking over sequence volume.
Engagement Copilot: 49.00 USD per month billed annually, or $65/mo monthly. It retains unlimited tracking and raises the sequence allowance to 1,500 recipients per month, a better fit for regular outreach.
Mixmax Suite: 89.00 USD per month billed annually, or $105/mo monthly. It includes unlimited tracking, up to 1,500 sequence recipients per month, and 200 post-meeting summaries per month. The higher price is most relevant to teams that will use those summaries.
Meeting Copilot: price not listed; billed included in Suite. It allows up to 100 sequence recipients and 200 post-meeting summaries per month.
Mixmax for Teams: custom pricing, with unlimited sequences and up to 3,000 sequence recipients per month. It is the listed option for teams needing higher sequence capacity.

Platforms

Mixmax provides a Chrome extension for Gmail, an Outlook add-in, and a web dashboard for sequences, reports, and workspace settings. It also lists API, Linux, macOS, and Windows platforms. Email-provider compatibility is narrower than that platform list suggests: it supports Gmail and Outlook, requires Google Chrome for the extension, and does not support Apple Mail, Yahoo, or other providers.

Who it's for

Mixmax is best suited to revenue teams that work in Gmail or Outlook and want sequences, scheduling, engagement signals, and CRM activity tied together. Its free tier can serve a low-volume trial, while users relying on ongoing tracking or larger recipient lists should weigh the paid-plan caps against their monthly outreach needs. It is not the right choice for teams committed to Apple Mail, Yahoo, or another unsupported provider.

Pros and cons

Pros: Sequences combine email follow-ups, tasks, and calls, with merge variables and CSV uploads; useful for coordinating repeatable outreach.
Pros: Scheduling links, email tracking, rules, and Salesforce or HubSpot sync connect engagement with meetings and CRM work.
Pros: More than 40 native integrations are included on every plan, rather than gated to higher tiers.
Cons: Free tracking is capped at 20 emails per month, and Free sequences at 50 recipients per month; this is limiting beyond light use.
Cons: Paid sequence allowances range from 100 to 1,500 recipients per month on the specified individual plans, so higher-volume users need to consider the Teams option.
Cons: Gmail extension users must use Chrome, and Apple Mail, Yahoo, and other email providers are unsupported.
Cons: Sending may be limited to 1,000 emails per user per day, which can constrain very high-volume sending.

Alternatives

For basic tracking and a smaller campaign allowance, Yesware offers a free plan with basic open and attachment tracking, 10 campaign recipients per month, and a meeting scheduler. Choose it when that narrower free feature set meets your needs.

Outplay has a free-forever plan with one user, two mailboxes, and 2,000 active prospects per month; it may suit a user whose priority is that prospect capacity.

Growbots offers a free plan with 20 email accounts, three sequences, and up to 20 emails per inbox per day. It may fit readers who value multiple email accounts and can work within those limits.

Snov.io, Woodpecker, Mystrika, Regie.ai, and Warmbly are alternatives to consider alongside Mixmax.

Verdict

Choose Mixmax if your revenue team uses Gmail or Outlook and needs to connect sequenced outreach with scheduling, engagement tracking, and CRM activity. Its workflow breadth and all-plan integration access are compelling, but provider restrictions and recipient caps make it a poor fit for unsupported inboxes or teams whose outreach volume exceeds the plan allowances.
