Overview

MobyMax is a K–8 learning platform for educators and families who want curriculum, assessment, and progress tracking in one place. It is strongest when teachers need to identify learning gaps and connect them to assigned lessons; schools should weigh its license scale and Clever conditions before committing.

The platform combines 115 curriculum modules, standards-based assessments, adaptive instruction, and real-time progress monitoring. That breadth suits classroom and school use, but the free educator version has limited access compared with licensed features, and lessons require an internet connection.

Key features

Assessment-led instruction

Skill Checker, Placement Tests, and Benchmarker tests based on state standards help educators identify what students need to work on. MobyMax then assigns lessons using diagnostic results and student progress. That link can make targeted practice easier to organize across K–8 subjects, though it does not remove the teacher’s role in reviewing results and deciding what needs attention.

Progress and live teaching

Teachers can monitor progress in real time and examine standards data by student, class, school, or district. Interactive Class tools support live lessons using MobyMax’s curriculum. The reporting scale is useful for educators overseeing multiple classes or schools; families are less likely to need its school- and district-level views.

Rostering, access, and privacy

Schools can roster automatically through Clever or ClassLink, sign in with Google Classroom credentials, or import a CSV. Clever has significant conditions: it requires a schoolwide or districtwide license, or licenses for at least 100 students, and continued sync requires at least 11 active students per school. Schools outside those thresholds should consider the other roster options rather than assume Clever will work.

MobyMax works on internet-connected devices with a browser, including Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows devices, and has no offline access. The maker says it complies with COPPA and FERPA, does not collect students’ home addresses, Social Security numbers, or dates of birth, and uses security measures including encryption. It also offers free live training webinars several times a week.

Pricing

The free educator version costs 0.00 USD per free and has limited access compared with licensed features. It is a sensible starting point for evaluating the platform, but its limits make it a weaker fit for schools that need the full licensed feature set. A separate teacher free version is also 0.00 USD per free, with no obligation.

The Family plan costs 7.99 USD per month, billed monthly, and covers K–8 subjects. It is the clearest fit for a household seeking subject coverage rather than schoolwide administration. The MAX Schoolwide License costs 4795.00 USD per year for unlimited teachers and students for one year; the MobyMax Schoolwide License has the same 4795.00 USD per year price and covers unlimited teachers and students at one school. Those school licenses are designed for broad campus access, not an individual family.

The MAX Districtwide License has custom pricing and includes unlimited teachers and students. The MobyMax Districtwide License also has custom pricing, is billed for one year, covers all schools in a district with unlimited teachers and students, and offers savings of up to 20% off schoolwide pricing. The general pricing note also advertises a 30-day trial.

Platforms

MobyMax is available on Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. It requires a browser and internet connection, so it is not an option for offline lessons.

Who it's for

MobyMax is a good fit for K–8 teachers who want diagnostics to inform lesson assignment and for administrators who need standards data across classes or schools. Its family plan and stated audience also make it relevant to parents and homeschool families. It is less compelling for households that want offline study, or for schools whose rostering needs depend on Clever but do not meet its license and active-student thresholds.

Pros and cons

Pros: Assessment results and progress inform automatically assigned lessons, reducing the work of matching practice to identified gaps.
Pros: Standards data can be reviewed from student through district level, supporting both classroom decisions and school oversight.
Pros: Multiple roster and sign-in routes, browser-based device access, and recurring free training webinars give schools several ways to onboard and support users.
Cons: The free educator version has limited access compared with licensed features, so it may not meet needs that depend on the full platform.
Cons: Clever sync is restricted by license size and minimum active enrollment, which can rule it out for smaller or lightly used schools.
Cons: There is no offline access, making the platform unsuitable where students cannot rely on an internet connection.

Alternatives

For a math-focused household looking for a lower annual price, Monster Math has a free version and a Premium plan at 59.99 USD per year, billed yearly, with unlimited app access and content. MathScore is another option for K–8 math: its free plan includes topics at every grade level, while the first paid student costs 9.95 USD per month for full topic access.

Brilliant may suit learners who want a daily lesson or practice-set limit rather than MobyMax’s school-oriented curriculum: its free plan allows two lessons or practice sets per day. For a family seeking Preschool-to-Grade-5 curriculum and premium live classes, SplashLearn offers a Family subscription at 7.49 USD per month, billed annually.

Cuemath is a paid alternative with a 12-month KG–G2 plan at 15.00 USD per year, billed annually. Boddle has a free plan as well as Premium Monthly at 9.99 USD per month or Premium Annual at 4.08 USD per month, billed annually. GeoGebra is another freemium option. For a free web-based option with a defined classroom cap, XtraMath’s Standard plan is free forever and supports up to 50 students and five custom programs.

Readers comparing broader categories can also browse Adaptive Learning Software, K-12 Curriculum Platforms, and Maths learning apps.

Verdict

Choose MobyMax if you need a K–8 platform that ties assessments to adaptive lessons and gives teachers progress data across student, class, school, and district levels. Its main advantage is that connected instructional and monitoring toolkit; look elsewhere if offline access is essential, the free version’s limits are too restrictive, or your school cannot meet Clever’s licensing and enrollment conditions.
