Overview

Momence brings studio operations together for businesses such as yoga, Pilates, dance, indoor cycling, and fitness studios. A shared system for schedules, payments, customer activity, and follow-up can suit businesses that offer several kinds of classes and appointments. The trade-off is that a business must request a quote to assess the cost.

The free customer app lets clients book with a business, but it does not let them search for other businesses. Momence says a business appears in the app when it is the only one the customer has visited there, so the app serves an existing client base rather than acting as a discovery marketplace.

Key features

Scheduling and bookings

Operators can schedule recurring classes, appointments, workshops, events, and other experiences, with controls for availability, booking rules, capacity, pricing, and staff assignments. Instructor scheduling, capacity management, and class waitlists help manage a varied timetable. This breadth is useful for studios combining group sessions with appointments; businesses with simpler needs may not need such a wide operating platform.

Messaging and automation

The Inbox brings two-way SMS, in-app messages, email, Instagram DMs, and Facebook DMs together. Sequences can trigger customer journeys after activity such as a purchase, a missed class, or a period of inactivity. The AI Inbox Agent can handle routine questions and eligible booking or membership requests, escalating cases that need a person. This gives studios several ways to keep customer follow-up connected to their activity, though the AI agent is positioned for routine requests rather than every interaction.

Payments and integrations

Momence supports online and in-person payments, saved payment methods, and payment plans. Its ready-made integrations include Zoom, Stripe, Wellhub, QuickBooks, and Kisi. The Zoom connection can create up to 100 meetings at a time; further meetings wait until the following day, and using the integration requires a paid Zoom plan. Studios that schedule many online sessions at once should account for that queue.

Security and health information

Momence says it uses TLS to encrypt data in transit and AES-256 or similar algorithms to encrypt data at rest where technically feasible. The full platform is not HIPAA compliant. Momence identifies SOAP notes and customer diagnoses as features subject to HIPAA requirements, and says intake forms are not HIPAA compliant and should not store medical protected health information. Businesses that handle such records need a workflow designed for that compliance scope.

Pricing

Momence uses custom pricing tailored to each business; contact sales for a quote. A 14-day free trial can be activated by switching to a Studio Account in Settings. With no published plan prices, operators need a quote to compare the cost with their expected use and budget.

The trial offers a way to evaluate the platform before committing, while the absence of a published price makes an initial cost comparison harder. Momence invites prospective customers to book a demo and speak with people familiar with the product and their business.

Platforms

Momence is available on the web, Android, and iOS. Its free customer app supports booking, while the platform also provides web and mobile booking channels.

Who it's for

Momence is aimed at fitness and wellness businesses, including yoga, Pilates, dance, indoor cycling, boutique studios, and gyms. It is particularly well suited to operators who need to coordinate classes, appointments, instructors, customer communications, and marketing in one platform. The combination is less suitable for businesses that require HIPAA-compliant handling of medical records or depend on customers discovering multiple businesses through a shared app.

Pros and cons

Broad studio operations: Scheduling, payments, marketing, customer messaging, and business operations sit in one platform, which suits studios managing more than a simple class calendar.
Flexible customer follow-up: The Inbox spans several communication channels, and Sequences can respond to customer activity such as purchases or missed classes.
Useful booking controls: Configurable capacity, staff assignments, recurring classes, and waitlists support a varied timetable.
Custom quote required: Businesses cannot compare a published plan price before contacting sales.
Zoom throughput cap: The integration creates at most 100 meetings at a time and requires a paid Zoom plan; additional meetings wait until the next day.
HIPAA limits: The full platform is not HIPAA compliant, and intake forms should not be used for medical protected health information.
No in-app business search: The customer app supports booking but does not help clients browse other businesses.

Alternatives

For a free entry point, Waine Appointments offers a free plan with one location, no staff accounts, and unlimited appointments; it may suit an operator prioritizing appointment volume over staff access. Resovu has a free web plan capped at three services, 45 bookings a month, and one team member, so it is an option for a small operation that can work within those limits.

Arketa starts at 49.00 USD per month when billed annually, with one team member login, scheduling for classes, private sessions, and events, and a 3% transaction fee plus Stripe fees. It may suit a studio that wants a published starting price and can accept those fees. MyDojang starts at 49.00 USD per month for one location, up to 50 students, and 150 SMS messages a month; it is a more clearly capped option for a business whose needs fit those limits.

Pike13 charges 159.00 USD per month for its Essential plan, with a 12-month contract, unlimited staff seats, and unlimited client profiles. Choose it when those stated seat and profile terms matter. TeamUp prices its plan according to active customers, with 189.00 USD per month for 101–200 active customers; it may suit a business that prefers pricing tied to that customer range.

YogaCRM and MotionHub are other options to compare; each has a free trial, and YogaCRM also has a free plan.

Verdict

Momence is a strong fit for fitness and wellness operators who want scheduling, payments, customer messaging, and activity-based marketing in one platform. Its breadth is the main reason to choose it, especially for a studio juggling classes, appointments, and customer follow-up. Look elsewhere if HIPAA-compliant medical workflows are essential, if Zoom meeting volume exceeds its batching limit, or if you need a published price before approaching sales.
