Overview

UpMetrics follows impact reporting from deciding what to measure through sharing results. Teams can set custom indicators and outcome frameworks, collect data collaboratively, manage it centrally, analyze it, and build external stories from it. Keeping those steps together can help organizations link their reporting back to the measures and programs they use.

The platform also treats stories, photos, interviews, and testimonials as evidence that can be coded, categorized, connected to programs, and analyzed alongside quantitative results. That breadth is useful when an impact account needs context as well as counts. For teams focused on a narrow reporting task, it may be more system than they need.

Key features

Mixed data collection supports both numerical measures and qualitative material. Integrations include Google Sheets, SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, CSV exports, and some grant-management systems. Custom API and RPA integrations are available through Services, which offers a path for organizations with specialized data flows.

Charts and dashboards can be reused, shared by public link, embedded, or exported without revealing the underlying data. This gives teams ways to communicate results externally while keeping the source data private.

UpMetrics is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant. AWS-hosted content is encrypted in transit and at rest, with logical separation between customers and MFA for sensitive access. The company says it will notify customers in writing within 72 hours of a confirmed security breach. Those controls address important operational concerns for organizations handling program data.

The UpMetrics Community offers client networking, resources, on-demand training, and direct engagement with staff. Standard onboarding usually takes four to six weeks, with timing dependent on data complexity, programs, grantees, and service scope. That guided start may help organizations configure a broad workflow, but the time commitment is material for teams looking for a quick setup.

Pricing

The Starter Plan is free, with unlimited access to an impact framework builder, themed framework templates, and a public profile page. It is a useful no-cost starting point for framework development and public presence, but it does not include the users, tables, and interactive dashboards quantified in the paid tiers.

Professional costs 1450.00 USD per year when billed yearly or $149 /monthly. It includes 10 users, 10 tables, and 1 interactive dashboard, making it the entry paid tier for a small team that needs shared reporting capacity. Premium costs 2400.00 USD per year or $249 /monthly, with 15 users, 20 tables, and 5 interactive dashboards; it suits teams that need more reporting space and dashboard variety.

Enterprise costs 4300.00 USD per year or $449 /monthly, providing 20 users, 40 tables, and 40 interactive dashboards. Elite costs 6250.00 USD per year or $650 /monthly, with 100 users, 200 tables, and 200 interactive dashboards. The larger tiers make room for more contributors and reporting outputs, so their value depends on an organization actually needing that scale.

Impact Funder Plans use custom pricing, discussed directly with the UpMetrics team and tailored to organizational size, goals, and complexity. A free basic license can also be issued by a funder to a nonprofit that only needs to complete incoming reports; its limited feature set makes it suitable for that narrow task rather than broader impact management. A free trial is available.

Platforms

UpMetrics is available as a web platform and an extension. That covers browser-based work and extension access, though no mobile platform is identified.

Who it's for

UpMetrics is built for nonprofits, grantmakers, and impact investors managing impact measurement and reporting across programs or grantees. Funder-sponsored cohorts can give nonprofits access, training, and peer learning, while the basic license fits organizations whose only need is completing reports for a funder.

It is a less natural fit for organizations seeking only a lightweight submission form or a fast, self-directed setup. The wider workflow and typical four-to-six-week onboarding make the most sense when measurement, evidence analysis, and reporting are all part of the job.

Pros and cons

Pros: Combines custom measures, mixed data collection, analysis, and external reporting in one workflow, which helps teams connect evidence to published impact accounts.
Pros: Qualitative material can be organized and analyzed alongside numerical data, supporting work where context matters to the impact story.
Pros: Shared or embedded charts and dashboards can communicate results without exposing underlying data.
Cons: The free Starter tier centers on framework building and a public profile; teams needing defined user, table, and dashboard capacity must move to a paid tier.
Cons: Paid plans impose explicit user, table, and dashboard caps, so larger organizations need to select a tier against their actual scale.
Cons: Standard onboarding typically takes four to six weeks, which may be a slow start for teams with simpler reporting needs.

Alternatives

Compare nonprofit impact measurement software if you want to assess UpMetrics in the broader category.

SIA MIS is an option with Android, iOS, and web platforms, a free plan, and a free trial. CharityIQ may suit UK grant seekers: its free Grant Finder provides live UK grant matches ranked by eligibility, with deadlines and award sizes, and it also has a paid Starter plan at 49.00 GBP per month.

CommCare is worth considering when open-source licensing or Android access matters; it has a free edition and supports Android, API, self-hosted, and web deployments. Relific is a paid alternative with a free trial and Android and web platforms.

Clear Impact has a free plan capped at 10 scorecard measures, 10 Compyle participant records, and three user accounts, making those limits relevant for smaller measurement needs. FRUIT Impact offers a free Seed plan with two targets, two brands, one admin user, and AI Insights, plus a Grow plan at 39.00 USD per month.

Impact Genome Registry offers free self-reported program outcomes that are not evaluated by in-house experts, while its nonprofit membership costs 1000.00 USD per once per program. Polyeda is another paid option with a free trial and API and web platforms.

Verdict

Choose UpMetrics if your nonprofit, foundation, or impact investment team needs one system for custom measurement, mixed evidence, analysis, and reporting. Its combination of qualitative and quantitative work is the main reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if the job is only submitting incoming reports, if the free framework-focused tier is enough, or if a four-to-six-week onboarding process and paid capacity limits do not fit your organization.
