Overview

Movista is a retail execution and workforce-management platform for organizations coordinating store and field teams. It is best suited to retailers, consumer-goods companies, service providers and distributors that need to assign work, verify completion and track results across many locations. Its breadth is a strength for complex operations, but teams looking only for a simple checklist tool may find it more system than they need.

Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, Movista reports more than 9 million retail locations, 600,000 users worldwide and 26 million completed projects. The platform is available on the web, iOS and Android, with API access.

Key features

Field execution and inventory

Teams can create, assign and validate tasks, coordinate schedules, track time and escalate work that needs attention. GPS verification, proof of completion and approval workflows help managers check that work was carried out; offline capabilities matter for staff working in locations with unreliable connectivity. Audit checklists, stock updates and in-app item ordering bring store condition and inventory tasks into the same workflow. Optional modules add item management, shelf ordering and returns.

Amp, Movista’s mobile app for iOS and Android, supports tasking, reassignment, escalation and individual, group and team communications. That gives field staff a way to manage work from mobile devices, while desktop dashboards give managers a broader view of execution.

Communications, reporting and optimization

Read rates, priority notifications and required-reading acknowledgments help managers see whether important messages have reached teams. Real-time dashboards report on work completion, performance and stock levels, connecting field activity with operational oversight. Optional territory, route and schedule optimization uses constraints such as demand, available resources, time, availability and skills. This can suit operations with complex coverage needs; organizations with straightforward routes may have less reason to add that module.

ShelfCheck AI uses image recognition to help identify shelf conditions and product availability. The core package also includes task management, scheduling, reporting, messaging, role management, GPS verification, time tracking, offline capabilities, integrations, API access and onboarding. Optional modules include payroll, report building and cross-company collaboration.

Integrations and data

Movista names integration categories spanning payroll, resource planning, expense reports, payment processing, human resources, CRM and business intelligence. Its supported API integrations are RESTful and documented, which gives organizations a defined route for connecting customer systems. AMP Core is described as secure and designed to integrate with customer systems and AI-based optimizations.

The app may process GPS location, work schedules, time and payroll details, and uploaded media. Employers determine what personal data is collected and how it is processed. Personal data is retained for the customer contract term and may remain in backup systems for up to 60 days in a non-editable state, so app users should understand their employer’s data practices.

Pricing

Movista is paid software with custom pricing. Prospective customers can request or schedule a demo and should ask which core and optional modules fit their workflows. With no published plan prices or seat and usage terms, buyers should confirm the full cost, user coverage and any module-specific charges before committing.

Platforms

Movista supports web, iOS, Android and API access. Amp is available through the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, and offline capabilities support field work when connectivity is limited.

Who it's for

Movista is a strong fit for retailers, consumer-goods companies, service providers and distributors coordinating repeatable work across dispersed stores and field teams. Its tasking, workforce functions, inventory workflows and reporting are particularly relevant when managers need visibility beyond individual checklists. A small team with a narrow audit requirement may prefer a more focused tool rather than adopting a broader operations platform.

Pros and cons

Pros: Combines task assignment, validation, scheduling, time tracking and reporting, reducing the need to manage those parts of field execution separately.
Pros: GPS verification, proof of completion, approvals and offline support address practical oversight and connectivity needs for distributed teams.
Pros: Optional inventory, optimization and AI shelf-auditing modules let organizations extend the platform toward specific retail workflows.
Cons: Custom pricing requires a sales conversation, making cost and plan comparisons less direct for buyers.
Cons: The breadth of workforce and retail features may be unnecessary for teams that only need basic audits or forms.
Cons: Employer control over collection and processing of location and other app data makes internal privacy practices important for users to check.

Alternatives

BeatRoute is another paid option for teams focused on territory and channel-partner management, GPS-based market coverage, order collection, stock reporting and returns, with one campaign form in its Starter Pack.

FieldAssist may suit field sales and distribution teams prioritizing offline-first operations, order capture, invoicing, collections, returns and basic route and beat planning.

Repsly is worth comparing for teams centered on representative and account management, scheduling, forms, reporting and API access in its Core plan.

Verdict

Movista is a compelling choice for organizations that need one platform to coordinate retail tasks, workforce activity, inventory work and execution reporting across distributed teams. Its offline mobile support and verification features strengthen that case. Look elsewhere if the requirement is only a lightweight audit tool, or if custom pricing and employer-managed app data do not suit your buying or privacy needs.
