Overview

Wallet combines spending limits, bill and net-worth tracking, and synced account balances. It connects to more than 15,000 financial institutions for transaction syncing and balance updates, and accepts historical records in CSV, XLS and OFX formats. That breadth can make it a useful hub for reviewing finances, though it remains a tracking tool: it cannot send payments, withdraw cash or hold funds.

BudgetBakers, founded in 2014 and based in Prague, says it is ISO 27001 certified, PCI DSS compliant and PSD2 licensed. Bank access is read-only. It also says it complies with GDPR, requires explicit authorization and provides a right to data deletion.

Key features

Budgets and tracking

Category spending limits, overspending alerts and multiple budget types give users several ways to keep spending within plan. AI-powered category assignment can reduce transaction sorting, while bill tracking and net-worth tracking extend the view beyond routine expenses. This is a more complete picture than a simple spending log, although the product still depends on users reviewing and acting on that information themselves.

Accounts, currencies and imports

Multi-currency support with automatic exchange-rate calculations helps people track finances across currencies. Historical records can be imported in CSV, XLS or OFX formats, which is useful when bringing older data into the same view. Account syncing adds automatic transaction and balance updates from supported institutions.

Shared finances and integrations

Premium's Group Sharing lets households share selected accounts for expenses and savings goals. Choosing which accounts to share gives users control over the scope of that collaboration, but the feature is not part of the free plan. Premium also unlocks a REST API for Wallet data such as transactions, accounts, budgets and goals, enabling connections to tools including Excel and Power BI. Wallet also offers MCP connections for AI assistants.

Mobile and web tools

The mobile apps include real-time notifications, quick expense entry, receipt scanning and offline mode, making them the better fit for capturing or checking activity while away from a desk. The web app adds advanced analytics, bulk operations, report export and multi-tab support, which suit users doing more involved reviews. Priority support is among the stated benefits, but no response-time commitment is given.

Pricing

Wallet uses a freemium model with a free trial. The Free plan is free and covers basic personal finance tracking. It is a sensible starting point for individual users who want to see whether account syncing and budgeting fit their routine, but it does not include Premium features such as Group Sharing and REST API access.

Premium Monthly, Premium Yearly and Premium Lifetime each have custom pricing. All three include Premium features, making them the relevant options for households that need shared accounts or users who want API access. The listed plans do not give a trial length, renewal terms, seat limits or usage quotas, so there is no basis for comparing the paid options by total cost or capacity.

Platforms

Wallet is available on Android, iOS and the web. The mobile apps cover quick entry, receipts and offline use; web access provides analytics, bulk operations, exports and multi-tab work. That split suits users who want to record activity on a phone and review it later on a larger screen.

Who it's for

Wallet is a good fit for individuals who want budgets, bills, account balances and net worth tracked together, especially if they use more than one currency or want to import older records. Households can consider it if Premium's selective account sharing matches how they divide expenses and savings goals. Users who need a budgeting tool to move money or manage funds directly should choose a different kind of product.

Pros and cons

Pros: Syncing across more than 15,000 financial institutions brings transactions and balances into one view.
Pros: Budget alerts, bill tracking and net-worth tracking cover more than day-to-day expense categorization.
Pros: Mobile capture features and web reporting support different parts of a regular finance routine.
Pros: CSV, XLS and OFX imports help bring historical records into Wallet.
Cons: Wallet cannot make payments, withdraw cash or hold funds, so it does not replace banking.
Cons: Group Sharing and REST API access require Premium, limiting the free plan for households and data integrations.
Cons: Premium plan prices are custom, making it difficult to weigh monthly, yearly and lifetime options by cost.

Alternatives

For other options, see Personal Finance Software. PocketSmith is a fit for readers who want a free casual budgeter with automatic bank feeds, manual imports, two dashboards and 12 budgets; it also supports a broader set of platforms, including desktop systems and an API. Choose MoneyPatrol for a free plan with core income and expense tracking and dashboard features across Linux, macOS and Windows. SoFi offers a budget planner, account linking, cash-flow and net-worth tracking, and credit-score monitoring for readers who want those tools in one service. EveryDollar suits people who prefer monthly budgeting with manual transaction tracking, unlimited categories and lines, bill due dates and sinking funds. Talvo is another free option for Android, iOS and web, with manual accounts, spending overview, budgets and projections. Budgero is worth considering when a shared workspace for up to five people and encrypted budgeting are priorities; its cloud plan costs 4.00 USD per month, tax included. Sure is free and open source under AGPLv3, and can be self-hosted. Actual Budget is a free, MIT-licensed option for envelope budgeting, with desktop and web access and optional self-hosted synchronization.

Verdict

Choose Wallet if you want one place to track budgets, bills, net worth and synced accounts across mobile and web, with imports and reports for a broader view of your finances. Its main advantage is the range of tracking tools in a free starting plan; look elsewhere if you need payment or fund management, or if Premium's custom pricing makes shared finances or API access hard to evaluate.
