Overview

MyPerfectResume combines resume creation, cover letters, job-specific writing guidance and an ATS Resume Checker in one service. Unlimited resume creation on the free plan is useful when each application needs a different version, but TXT-only downloads make the free tier a poor fit when employers expect a polished document file. Premium access is aimed at applicants who need customizable templates and deeper issue checking.

MyPerfectResume was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. A Bold.pro professional profile is included, and ExpertApply was integrated in 2025 to autofill applications from a user’s resume.

Key features

Resume builder and writing guidance

The builder includes 40 customizable templates described as ATS-friendly. Job-specific suggestions from professional resume analysts and AI can help turn general experience into wording relevant to a target role. That is valuable for first-time applicants or anyone who struggles to translate duties into concise resume language, although suggestions still require personal editing for accuracy and tone.

Resume checking

The ATS Resume Checker reviews more than 30 issues and proposes improvements. It gives applicants a concrete review pass before applying, which is more actionable than simply choosing a template. A score or suggestion cannot judge whether achievements are credible or sufficiently specific, so it should complement—not replace—careful proofreading.

Cover letters and imports

Users can generate a matching cover letter from a resume or start one from scratch. The Resume Builder and Cover Letter Generator accept DOC, DOCX, PDF, ODT, HTML, RTF and TXT files, making it practical to bring existing material into the workflow. Resume import is particularly useful for revising an established document rather than re-entering it.

Applications and mobile access

The service is available on the web and through Android and iOS apps, with an interface optimized for smartphones and tablets. ExpertApply can autofill applications using the resume, reducing repeated data entry for people applying broadly. Security measures are described as technical, physical and administrative protections, with no absolute-security guarantee; the provider states compliance with GDPR, CCPA, CPRA and applicable US state privacy laws. Support is offered by phone, email and chat.

Pricing

Plan	What it includes	Best for
Basic Access	Unlimited TXT downloads	Applicants who can submit plain-text resumes and want ongoing free creation
14-Day Premium Access	40+ customizable templates and checks for 30+ resume issues	Short-term applicants who want premium formatting and review tools
1-Year Premium Access	40+ customizable templates and checks for 30+ resume issues	People managing an extended or repeated job search

MyPerfectResume uses a freemium model with a 14-day trial. Basic Access gives up premium templates and the broader issue-checking package, while its unlimited TXT downloads remove a creation quota. Premium plan prices are custom pricing, so compare the checkout terms before committing; the 14-day option is the narrower commitment, while the annual option is intended for longer use.

Platforms

MyPerfectResume runs on the web and has Android and iOS apps. Smartphone and tablet optimization makes editing and reviewing possible away from a desktop.

Who it's for

It is a strong match for job seekers who need guided writing, ATS-oriented templates, cover letters and application automation in one place. It is less suitable for anyone who must download a free resume in a format other than TXT or who wants a published Premium price before selecting a plan.

Pros and cons

Pros: Unlimited free resume creation supports role-specific versions; 40 ATS-friendly templates provide a structured starting point; job-focused analyst and AI suggestions reduce blank-page work; checks cover more than 30 resume issues; imports accept seven common file formats; web and mobile apps support multi-device use.
Cons: Free downloads are TXT-only, limiting presentation options; premium prices use custom pricing, making cost comparison harder; automated suggestions and checks still need human judgment; security protections do not promise absolute security.

Alternatives

Choose Resume Genius instead if you need a free plan whose cover letters can download as PDF, Word or TXT, alongside TXT-only resume downloads and a US-only job board.

Resume.io is a web-only alternative with a seven-day trial and a premium plan offering unlimited resumes and cover letters.

ResumeBuilder.com suits users wanting free resume and cover-letter builders, professional templates and unlimited TXT downloads.

Zety offers resume and cover-letter building with templates, TXT downloads and unlimited downloads, prints and edits.

Enhancv is a paid alternative with web and browser-extension access, including a basic one-resume plan and Pro plans capped at 10 resumes.

LiveCareer provides limited free builder access with TXT downloads, plus a 14-day premium option.

Rezi is a web, iOS and extension-based option whose free plan allows one resume, one AI interview and three PDF downloads.

CakeResume offers web, iOS and Android access, with a free plan including one resume and 60 Cake AI credits per month.

Verdict

Choose MyPerfectResume if you want guided, ATS-focused resume and cover-letter creation with mobile access, imports and application autofill. Its unlimited free resume creation is a practical advantage for active applicants, but look elsewhere if TXT-only free downloads are too restrictive or custom pricing makes the premium commitment difficult to assess.
