Overview

NotaryCentral is a remote-notarization and business-management platform for independent notaries and teams. Its strongest case is bringing journal, booking, payment, and accounting work into one service; the main caveat is that free use stops after 15 RON signings and later costs can combine subscriptions with per-notarization credits.

Key features

The e-Journal supports searchable records with thumbprints, signatures, and ID numbers, plus PDF or full-data exports. Each saved entry receives a tamper-evident hash, so a later edit makes the hash fail to match. That is a useful way to flag changes, though it is not a substitute for deciding how records should be managed. Entries can be created offline, even while signed out, and synced once connectivity returns—a practical advantage for field work, with syncing still needed afterward.

Accounting tools produce year-end profit-and-loss, mileage, expense, and 1099/payment reports in CSV or PDF. Notaries who handle their own business reporting can keep that work alongside their journal and booking workflow. Shareable booking links support availability, service fees, add-ons, signer intake, document uploads, and optional upfront payment. Stripe and Square can be configured for booking payments; Square is also an optional card-payment integration for accounting. Google Calendar and Google Maps may be linked.

Remote online notarization includes audio-video sessions, electronic notarization, identity verification, and notarized-record storage. Verification with biometrics uses a more expensive credit option than notarization without ID verification. Compliance tools provide AI answers drawn from state notary handbooks with citations, and reminders for notaries who still need a paper journal. The company says data transmissions use SSL/TLS, sensitive account information is encrypted and access-controlled in storage, and it does not sell customer data, customer lists, or notarization records. Its ID-extraction process temporarily handles extracted text without retaining the original ID image on its servers.

Pricing

Business Suite Free and e-Journal Free each cost 0.00 USD per free and include the first 15 RON signings, no credit card requirement, and email support. These are useful entry points, but the shared signing cap makes them a trial-sized option rather than an ongoing free service for regular RON work.

For usage-based notarization, RON credits without ID verification cost 1.50 USD per once, billed pay-as-you-go at one credit per notarization. RON credits with ID verification and biometrics cost 3.00 USD per once, billed pay-as-you-go at two credits per notarization. The higher-priced option is for workflows requiring those checks; the lower-priced credit omits ID verification.

e-Journal Plus (Yearly) is shown as 1.66 USD per year, billed annually and displayed as $1.66/month. It adds unlimited entries, mobile app access, and email support, making it a focused choice for journal users who do not need the broader business-tools plan. Business Tools (Yearly) is shown as 10.00 USD per year, billed annually and displayed as $10.00/month; it includes unlimited appointments and priority support. The plan descriptions do not say that either subscription includes RON credits, so users should account for pay-as-you-go credits separately when needed. The broader paid offering starts at $10/user/mo (annual), while plans without a published price use custom pricing.

Platforms

NotaryCentral supports Android, iOS, web, an extension, and an API. Mobile support includes both an app and mobile web, giving notaries a choice between dedicated mobile access and a browser workflow.

Who it's for

Independent notaries and teams who want remote notarization, journal records, client booking, payments, and business reporting together are the clearest fit. Offline journal entry and mobile access are especially relevant to notaries working away from a reliable connection. Notaries who only need occasional notarization, or who want a free service without a 15-signing cap, should compare alternatives before committing.

Pros and cons

Pro: The journal pairs searchable records and multiple export formats with tamper-evident hashes, helping users review records and flag later changes.
Pro: Offline journal creation, including while signed out, supports field work; entries can sync when connectivity returns.
Pro: Booking, configurable payment providers, accounting reports, and RON features cover more of a notary's operating workflow than journal-only tools.
Con: Both free plans stop at 15 RON signings, so continuing RON use requires paid credits or another suitable plan.
Con: Verification and biometrics consume two credits per notarization at 3.00 USD per once, compared with one credit at 1.50 USD per once without ID verification.
Con: The journal and business-tools subscriptions are separate named plans, and RON credits are charged per notarization; users should budget for the combination their workflow requires.

Alternatives

Browse Legal Notarization Software or Online Notary Software for more options. Choose Secured Signing if its Android, iOS, MacOS, Windows, web, and API coverage suits your setup; its free account allows three documents per month. BlueNotary is worth comparing if you want a free plan with unlimited general notary work, an electronic journal, and session recordings stored for 10 years. Consider Notaron for its free general-notary-work plan with BYOC, BYORO, and a digital seal.

OneNotary offers a pay-as-you-go online-notarization option starting at $25 and mobile notarizations starting at $80, with seven days of document storage. Proof Notarize may suit growing teams seeking API access, custom branding, advanced transaction forms, and signing rules through its Pro+ plan. Epic River is another paid option. Stavvy uses custom pricing, with monthly minimum service fees billed in advance and other service fees billed in arrears. SIGNiX eNotaryDoX offers an Individual plan with a $50/month transaction commitment, then $10 per transaction and $5 per additional seal.

Verdict

NotaryCentral is a strong fit for independent notaries and teams who want a connected journal, booking, payment, and accounting workflow, especially where offline journal access matters. Its broad feature set is the reason to choose it; the 15-signing free cap and separate usage-based notarization costs are reasons to look elsewhere if predictable or ongoing free RON use is the priority.
