Overview

Nutritionists, dietitians, health coaches, functional medicine practitioners, naturopaths, and other holistic providers can use Practice Better to manage client records alongside scheduling, billing, payments, and communications. Its breadth suits practices that want administration and care delivery together, but may be more than a provider needs if the priority is only one narrow task.

Practice Better says it serves more than 50,000 practitioners in over 100 countries. It states that it complies with HIPAA, PIPEDA, PHIPA, and GDPR, and encrypts data in transit and at rest, including backups and log data. Those safeguards matter for sensitive records, but integrations still need scrutiny: Practice Better warns that linking Zapier sends client contact information outside its platform and is not HIPAA-compliant for protected health information.

Key features

Client care and practice operations

Scheduling, digital intake forms, patient reminders, charting, journaling, and secure messaging cover routine client workflows. Telehealth and group sessions support remote care, while programs, courses, protocols, reporting, and automations extend the platform beyond appointment management. This range is useful for practitioners who deliver structured wellness services; the advantage is less compelling if those workflows are not part of the practice.

Payments and integrations

Practice Better Payments, powered by Stripe, supports online and in-person payments, stored billing information, and payment plans. Practice Better says it connects with more than 26 tools, including Apple Health, Fitbit, Fullscript, Rupa Health, That Clean Life, and Zoom. Zapier can connect other workflows, but the privacy caveat makes it unsuitable for protected health information.

Access and support

The platform runs on the web and has iOS and Android apps; supported desktop and mobile browsers provide another route to access. Email is the primary support channel, and Practice Better says it typically responds within a couple of hours.

Pricing

Practice Better has a free plan, paid monthly plans, and free trials. Sprout is free forever, but its three active clients, 100 MB of storage, and single practitioner license make it best for trying the workflow or serving a very small caseload. Starter costs 35.00 USD per month and raises the limits to 10 clients and 1 GB, while retaining one practitioner license; it is a modest step up, not a fit for a practice expecting rapid client growth.

Professional costs 69.00 USD per month and allows 300 clients with 5 GB of storage and one practitioner license, making it the more workable solo-practice tier for a substantial caseload. Plus costs 99.00 USD per month and removes client and storage caps, with three admin licenses but still just one practitioner license. It suits a solo practitioner who needs administrative help more than additional providers. Team costs 155.00 USD per month, with unlimited clients and storage, two practitioner licenses, and unlimited admin licenses; it is the clear choice among these plans for a multi-practitioner practice.

The published pricing note also gives paid plans from 25/user/mo (annual), while the detailed Starter, Professional, Plus, and Team prices are monthly. Paid plans have 14-day free trials, except Team, which has a 30-day trial. Choose by client cap, storage, and practitioner seats rather than assuming that unlimited clients also means unlimited providers.

Platforms

Practice Better supports Android, iOS, and web. The mobile apps suit practitioners who need access away from a desk, while browser access works across supported desktop and mobile browsers.

Who it's for

Practice Better is a good fit for holistic and wellness practitioners who need client records, scheduling, payments, and care-delivery tools together. It can also suit a small team, provided the Team plan’s two practitioner licenses meet its staffing needs. Providers with only a few clients can start on Sprout, but its tight client and storage limits are likely to push an active practice toward a paid tier.

Pros and cons

Broad care and business coverage: charting, scheduling, payments, telehealth, programs, and communications live in one platform, which suits practices managing both operations and ongoing client care.
Useful entry point: Sprout costs nothing and includes one practitioner license, but its three-client limit restricts its value for an established practice.
Scalable client capacity: Plus and Team offer unlimited clients and storage, though Plus remains limited to one practitioner and Team to two.
Integration privacy caveat: Zapier sends client contact information outside Practice Better and is not HIPAA-compliant for protected health information, so it should not be used for that data.

Alternatives

Carepatron is worth considering if a free plan with unlimited clients is the priority; its Free plan includes 1GB of storage, though it also specifies limits for AI tokens, tasks, and appointments. Halaxy offers a free core platform with unlimited appointments, practitioners, and locations, making it an option when those capacity limits matter most.

Healthie may suit a solo provider seeking a paid entry plan: its Core annual-billing plan costs 18.00 USD per month and includes 10 active clients, scheduling, payment processing, charting, telehealth, a client portal, and an iOS app. Cliniko is another paid option; its 1-practitioner plan costs 45.00 USD per month and includes unlimited admin and reception users, locations, file storage, and patients.

Zanda, HiDoctor, SimplePractice, and DaySmart Appointments are alternatives to compare.

Verdict

Choose Practice Better if you are a wellness practitioner who wants client management, practice administration, and care delivery in one platform, and its practitioner-seat limits fit your team. Its broad toolkit is the main reason to choose it; the Sprout cap and Zapier’s privacy limitation are the reasons to move to a paid plan or look elsewhere.
