Overview

The software covers internet history, cookies, download and document lists, caches, temporary files, and traces from many third-party applications. Custom cleaning lists extend coverage to applications it does not support directly, making it more adaptable than a fixed checklist.

The editions are not feature-equivalent. Windows adds file and free-space erasure, SSD-aware handling, File Explorer integration, command-line task launching, password protection, stealth mode, and a Boss Key that closes a web browser in an emergency. The Mac edition focuses on application traces: it cleans data from more than 100 native and third-party applications and lets users inspect details of many items before erasing them.

Key features

Cleaning and scheduled tasks

Users can combine cleaning and wiping jobs into tasks, run them immediately, or schedule them for logon, logoff, startup, and shutdown. That range suits people who want routine maintenance to happen without remembering to launch it. Command-line launches and Windows operations from File Explorer also give experienced users and administrators ways to trigger jobs without relying solely on the main interface.

File erasure and platform controls

Windows supports fast and strong erase algorithms, including DoD-approved methods, for files and free space. It recognizes SSDs and defaults to wiping only necessary data to limit additional wear. These controls make it a stronger fit for targeted file erasure than a cleaner with no wiping features; it does not wipe entire drives.

Windows also includes password protection, a stealth mode to hide cleaning, and a Boss Key for closing a browser quickly. The Mac edition instead emphasizes breadth of application-trace coverage and item inspection. Readers should choose by platform and need rather than assume each version has the same controls.

Pricing

Both editions offer fully functional 30-day trials with no device-count limit during the trial. After the Windows trial, the software becomes R-Wipe & Clean Lite, which continues cleaning essential computer traces. Lite is a useful ongoing option for basic cleanup, but it does not clean any detectable traces, run scheduled tasks, or support Windows Server.

Plan	Price	What it suits
R-Wipe & Clean Lite	Free	Essential trace cleaning at no cost, with no scheduled tasks or Windows Server support.
R-Wipe & Clean Standalone	28.99 USD per once	One personal computer or workstation; not for servers. The lifetime license transfers when the computer is replaced or decommissioned.
R-Wipe & Clean Corporate	88.99 USD per once	One workstation or server, with a lifetime license transferable to a replacement or decommissioned-computer successor.
R-Wipe & Clean Technician	168.00 USD per once	Serving multiple computers, subject to the purchased license count for simultaneous installations or runs.
R-Wipe & Clean Commercial	298.00 USD per once	Serving storage devices and systems for commercial gain; only one copy may be used at a time.

The one-time Standalone license is the lowest-cost paid choice for an individual machine, but it excludes servers. Corporate covers a single server or workstation. Technician and Commercial address multi-computer service and commercial work respectively, with explicit limits on concurrent use. Choose the license that matches where and how the software will be used, not just the number of machines.

Platforms

R-Wipe & Clean supports Windows and macOS. The Windows download page covers Windows 7 through 11 and specified Windows Server versions. The Mac system requirements list macOS 10.7 through 10.12, so readers with newer Macs should confirm compatibility before choosing that edition. R-Tools provides technical and customer support, a knowledge base, and a user forum.

Who it's for

It is a practical choice for Windows users who want scheduled privacy cleanup and file or free-space erasure, and for Mac users whose priority is clearing traces across a large set of applications. Lite makes sense when essential trace cleaning is enough. Anyone who needs scheduled jobs, Windows Server support, or the full erasure controls should look to a paid license. It is not the right pick for whole-drive wiping.

Pros and cons

Broad trace coverage: handles browser, document, cache, temporary-file, and third-party application traces, with custom lists for unsupported apps.
Flexible task launches: tasks can run on demand, at system events, or from the command line; Windows also supports launching most operations from File Explorer.
SSD-aware erasure: Windows defaults to wiping only necessary SSD data, helping limit extra wear.
Free Lite is limited: it omits scheduled tasks, Windows Server support, and cleaning detectable traces.
No whole-drive wiping: despite its file and free-space erasure options, it is not a drive-wiping tool.
Mac compatibility needs checking: the stated system requirements stop at macOS 10.12.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison of tools focused on shredding, see File Shredder Software.

Active@ KillDisk is another freemium option, with Windows, macOS, and Linux support. Its Personal Professional license costs 64.95 USD per once for individual users seeking secure data erasure.
Macrorit Data Wiper is Windows-only. Its free home edition limits recycle-bin wiping to files under 100 MB and fewer than five files, while also wiping non-system disks.
Alternate File Shredder is a free, open-source Windows option.
File Shredder is a free Windows option with five shredding algorithms, file and folder shredding, and free-space wiping.
O&O AppBuster is a Windows freeware alternative with no installation required.
BCWipe Total WipeOut is a paid alternative with a free trial for Linux, macOS, and Windows.
Easy File Shredder is a paid Windows alternative with a 1 Computer plan at 29.95 USD per year, billed, including unlimited updates for one year.
nwipe is a free, command-line and ncurses GUI option for Linux that requires Linux.

Verdict

Choose R-Wipe & Clean if you want trace removal paired with scheduled jobs, and especially if you need Windows file or free-space erasure and SSD-aware handling. Lite is a useful starting point for essential cleanup, but its missing scheduling and detectable-trace cleaning are meaningful limits. Look elsewhere if you need whole-drive wiping or depend on a Mac system newer than the stated requirements without first confirming compatibility.
