Overview

Rather than limiting tracking to whole-page changes, OnWebChange can watch specific elements such as prices, headlines and listings. It also handles pages that load content dynamically with JavaScript, online PDFs, images and text files, and login-protected pages accessed using custom headers. That range suits people monitoring information spread across different page types, though organizations needing only simple uptime checks may not need this content-focused breadth.

Checks can run as frequently as every five minutes, and alerts can arrive by email, mobile notification or webhook. Pushover is the named third-party mobile notification service for Android and iOS. Translation and concise summaries of updates can help when following changes across languages or reviewing them over time. Groups, labels, pause and resume controls, plus CSV import and export, give users practical ways to manage many trackers.

OnWebChange supports page health checks and is available on web, Android and iOS, as well as through an API. The service dates to 2009 and provides documentation, video tutorials, email contact and member-support enquiries. Its privacy policy says user data is stored at a Linode data center in London, with possible use of German data centers for availability and resilience. It also describes rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and request data portability.

Key features

Targeted page tracking: Follow selected content such as a price or listing, which can reduce noise when unrelated parts of a page change.
Dynamic pages and documents: JavaScript-loaded content and online files including PDFs and images are within scope, making the service useful beyond static webpages.
Login access: Custom headers allow monitoring of content behind login pages, a meaningful option for pages that are not publicly accessible.
Alerts and review tools: Email, mobile notifications and webhooks provide delivery choices; translation and concise summaries help interpret updates.
Tracker organization: Groups, labels, pause and resume, and CSV import and export help users maintain a larger tracking setup.

Pricing

OnWebChange uses a freemium model, with paid plans billed monthly. The Free plan costs 0.00 EUR per month and includes three page trackers with basic daily monitoring. It is a sensible way to try a small set of low-priority pages, but daily checks are too infrequent for changes that need prompt attention.

Lite costs 0.89 EUR per month and raises the allowance to 10 page trackers, with three additional notification email addresses per tracker. It is the cheapest paid option for a small setup that needs more trackers or shared email alerts. Standard costs 2.79 EUR per month and provides unlimited page trackers, 20 additional notification email addresses per tracker and unlimited subscribers per tracker. That is the clearest fit for users who want to scale beyond a small personal collection.

Turbo-50 costs 4.99 EUR per month and includes 50 page trackers, 20 additional notification email addresses per tracker and unlimited subscribers per tracker. Turbo-100 costs 8.99 EUR per month and raises the cap to 100 trackers with the same notification and subscriber allowances. These tiers suit users who need a defined larger tracker capacity; Standard is more attractive when an unlimited tracker count matters. The stated plan limits do not establish a different checking interval for each paid tier, so buyers should compare the tracker and notification allowances rather than assume a faster cadence. The service also says charities helping children or working to address climate change can use it without paying.

Platforms

OnWebChange supports web, Android, iOS and API access. Pushover provides the named third-party mobile notification route for Android and iOS, while email and webhooks offer other alert channels.

Who it's for

OnWebChange is best for individuals and organizations tracking precise content across websites, documents or login-protected pages, especially when they need multiple alert recipients or a large tracker collection. The free plan works for a small, non-urgent watch list; Lite suits modest expansion, and Standard or the Turbo plans suit larger sets. It is less compelling for a team whose priority is only basic site availability rather than changes to page content.

Pros and cons

Pro: Monitoring covers selected page elements, JavaScript-loaded pages, documents and login-protected content, supporting varied tracking needs in one service.
Pro: Alerts can go to email, mobile notifications or webhooks, and paid plans allow additional email addresses and, from Standard onward, unlimited subscribers.
Pro: The paid entry point of 0.89 EUR per month offers 10 trackers, a much larger allowance than the free tier.
Con: Free monitoring is capped at three trackers and daily checks, limiting its use for time-sensitive changes.
Con: Lite’s three additional email addresses per tracker are more limited than the 20 additional addresses and unlimited subscribers on Standard and Turbo plans.
Con: The plan descriptions do not attach a specific checking interval to each tier, so the five-minute maximum cannot be mapped to a particular subscription here.

Alternatives

For a different approach to monitoring, compare website monitoring software. Visual Sentinel is another freemium option with Android, iOS, API and web platforms, while HostTracker may suit readers who want a stated free allowance of two monitors and checks every 30 minutes. Cronitor is an alternative for API, Linux and web users, with a free Hacker plan that includes five monitors, email and Slack alerts, a status page, 50 subscribers and a five-minute fastest check frequency.

Downdetector is oriented around outage notifications, with a free option for favorites and limited daily alerts. GTmetrix offers a free option and paid on-demand testing, making it a different choice for readers interested in site tests rather than content-change tracking. Treo offers CrUX page allowances and site history, which may suit readers focused on those measures. WebSite-Watcher is another freemium monitoring option, with a free allowance of 10 bookmarks and a shortest check interval of one hour. Pinger Man is another freemium option for readers to compare.

Verdict

Choose OnWebChange if you need to track specific webpage or document content, including login-protected pages, and value flexible alerts and tracker management. Its broad monitoring scope and low paid entry price are the main reasons to choose it; the three-tracker, daily-check free plan and the lack of a tier-specific checking interval make it a weaker choice when frequent monitoring is essential or uptime is the main concern.
