Overview

Reap combines AI clipping, captions, dubbing, translation, and transcript-based editing around long-form speech. Its focus makes it a practical match for recordings with a clear speaker; it is less compelling for projects built around visual storytelling or footage without substantial dialogue. Imports from YouTube, Twitch, Twitter/X, and Vimeo add routes for bringing existing videos into the workflow.

Key features

Clipping and captions

Clipping analyzes faces, vocal tone, pauses, and pacing to identify moments for social videos. That is a useful approach for spoken recordings, though the stated focus is not a reason to choose Reap as a general-purpose video editor. Captions come in more than 50 animated presets and support 100+ languages, including romanized scripts, giving creators options for styling and reaching audiences across languages.

Editing, dubbing, and publishing

Transcript-based editing connects text changes to the corresponding video, which can make tightening spoken material more direct than editing solely on a timeline. Paid plans add AI dubbing in 80+ languages, but monthly allowances are capped. The publisher connects TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X; supported destinations vary by plan, so creators relying on a particular channel should check its inclusion before choosing.

REST API, CLI, and MCP access, plus stated compatibility with n8n, Zapier, and Make, give technical teams ways to connect Reap with other workflows. That makes it more than a manual clipping tool for teams automating production, although the value depends on whether those integrations suit their setup.

Pricing

Reap has a free plan, a free trial, and paid plans priced from $9.99/mo with annual billing. The free tier provides 1 hour per month for clipping and captions, 720p watermarked exports, and projects that expire after seven days. Its 5 GB upload limit is enough to try the workflow, but the short retention, watermark, and low monthly allowance make it a poor fit for ongoing publishing.

Creator costs $9.99 per month, billed $119.88 annually; monthly billing is available at a higher rate. It includes 10 clipping hours and 10 caption hours per month, 1080p watermark-free exports, 2 hours of dubbing and translation monthly, and one user. This is the sensible step up for an individual creator who needs clean exports and some localization, but the single seat and limited dubbing allowance constrain collaboration and heavier translation workloads. Its upload limit is 10 GB.

Studio costs $29.00 per month, billed $348 annually, with monthly billing available at a higher rate. It raises clipping and captioning to 20 hours each per month, supports 4K watermark-free exports, provides 5 monthly hours for dubbing and translation, and allows up to three users. Faster processing and priority support make it a better fit for a small team with regular production needs; the higher quota and resolution come at a substantial price increase over Creator. Uploads are limited to 10 GB.

Enterprise has custom pricing, unlimited team members, custom clipping and captioning hours, custom dubbing and translation volumes, SSO, and custom integrations. It suits organizations needing configurable capacity, access controls, or tailored connections rather than a fixed small-team allowance.

Platforms

Reap is available on web, iOS, Android, and through an API. It also runs in a mobile browser, while native iOS and Android apps are launching in Q3 2026. The browser option gives mobile users a way to access the product, but those who require a native app now should account for that timing.

Who it's for

Reap is strongest for creators, publishers, and small teams turning long spoken recordings into shorter social content, especially when captions, translation, dubbing, or automated workflows are part of the job. It is a weaker match for visual-first editing, users who need long-term project retention on a free tier, or anyone who needs more than one seat without stepping up from Creator.

Pros and cons

Pros: Clipping, transcript-based editing, captions, dubbing, and publishing are combined for a focused spoken-video workflow.
Pros: Support for 100+ caption languages and 80+ dubbing languages can help creators adapt content for broader audiences.
Pros: REST API, CLI, and MCP access, alongside n8n, Zapier, and Make compatibility, supports connected production workflows.
Cons: Free exports are watermarked, capped at 720p, and tied to projects that expire after seven days.
Cons: Creator's lowest paid rate is billed annually, and its single seat and 2-hour monthly dubbing allowance limit some growing workflows.
Cons: Publishing destinations vary by plan, so the plan price alone does not establish access to every listed social platform.

Alternatives

For a broader audio-and-video editing platform, consider EchoWave Podcast Editor, which offers a free plan with 720p exports, videos up to 60 minutes, and 24-hour storage.

Headliner is a better fit for users prioritizing a generous free audiogram workflow: its free plan allows unlimited video and captioned clips, plus one unwatermarked audiogram each month and unlimited watermarked audiograms.

Waveloop is another option in this category.

Choose Audiogram if a simple video quota is a better match: its free plan allows two videos per month with captions up to 60 seconds, while Pro raises that to 15 videos per month and captions up to five minutes for $19.00 per month.

Clipperz may suit creators looking for a credit-based audiogram maker, with a free plan that includes 80 Standard credits per month and seven-day clip retention.

Alion Tech Studio Audiogram Maker is worth considering for a free, no-watermark tool with unlimited exports and clips up to three minutes.

CapsAI is another option for users comparing mobile-accessible captioning tools.

For a paid alternative, Flowjin offers a one-time 60-minute video or audio credit on its free plan and a Starter plan at $19.00 per month.

Verdict

Reap is a strong choice for creators and small teams repurposing spoken long-form video who want clipping, captions, localization, and publishing in one workflow. Its breadth and automation access are the main reasons to choose it; the free plan's short retention and watermarks, Creator's annual billing and single seat, and plan-dependent publishing destinations are reasons to look elsewhere or verify fit before committing.
