Overview

Process Lasso combines process automation with an automated task manager. ProBalance adjusts running programs’ priorities during high CPU loads to help keep the system responsive, while persistent settings and rules can apply process controls without requiring the graphical interface to remain open. This makes it a stronger fit for repeatable system tuning than for someone who only wants to inspect running processes.

Key features

Process control and rules

CPU affinities, CPU sets and priorities can be saved and reapplied when processes launch. Rules can also set priorities, affinities and power profiles, or trigger actions based on process thresholds and other criteria. That flexibility is useful when the same applications need consistent treatment, though it brings more configuration than a basic task manager requires.

CPU Limiter, Instance Balancer and Group Extender are among the listed algorithms. The free plan puts CPU Limiter, Instance Balancer, Process Watchdog and power plan automation, along with several other features, behind trial periods. That makes Free a reasonable way to keep using the software, but a less reliable choice for anyone who depends on those controls over time.

Power, logging and background operation

Power plan automation can switch plans when selected processes run or when the system is idle. Keep Awake can prevent sleep for a set time or while selected processes are running, which is useful for tasks that need the machine to stay available. Activity logging can record process launches and other selected system activity for later review.

The separate Process Governor service enforces algorithms and rules in the background; the graphical interface is optional. That suits users who want rules to keep running without an open control panel. Bitsum says the software does not send personal files, documents or managed process contents, though activation and update checks communicate with the maker. Installers are signed by Bitsum Technologies (Bitsum LLC).

Pricing

Process Lasso uses a freemium model, with a 30-day trial and paid options starting at 4.95 USD per month. The free plan is free and can be used indefinitely by most users, but some features are trial-limited. Commercial use requires purchase within 30 days of deployment, so businesses should plan for a paid license rather than treating Free as an ongoing commercial option.

Published single-PC options include 4.95 USD per month for Single PC Monthly, 24.95 USD per year for Single PC Annual, and 39.95 USD per month for Single PC Lifetime. The annual plan costs less over a year than paying monthly, while the lifetime label may appeal to someone avoiding recurring subscriptions; its listed monthly term is unusual and should be checked before purchase.

For up to five PCs, Entire Home Monthly is 5.95 USD per month, Entire Home Annual is 36.95 USD per year, and Entire Home Lifetime is 59.95 USD per month. The home plans suit one owner managing several personal computers, but are not the right license for commercial use. The paid Pro listings also include monthly, annual and lifetime single-PC choices and up to five-PC home choices, with prices shown as custom pricing. The lifetime Pro options include minor and major updates in perpetuity; recurring subscriptions can be canceled at any time. Premium support is a Pro feature, and support is also available by email.

Platforms

Process Lasso supports Windows 7–11 and Windows Server 2012–2025. Its process controls are specific to Windows, so users managing Linux or macOS systems will need another tool.

Who it's for

Choose Process Lasso if you want process priorities, affinities, power behavior or activity logging to follow rules automatically on Windows. It is particularly relevant to users who want ProBalance to respond to CPU pressure or need the background service to enforce settings without an open interface. If you only need live process monitoring, or need one tool across operating systems, its automation depth and Windows scope may not justify the choice.

Pros and cons

Pros: ProBalance adjusts priorities under high CPU load, giving users an automated way to help preserve responsiveness.
Pros: Persistent process settings, threshold-based rules and power automation cover recurring system behavior in one Windows tool.
Pros: Process Governor can enforce rules independently of the optional graphical interface.
Cons: Several useful features are trial-only in Free, limiting its value for users who need them continuously without paying.
Cons: Windows-only support excludes people managing processes across macOS or Linux.
Cons: The listed lifetime prices use a monthly term, which makes the billing basis less clear than the annual and recurring monthly options.

Verdict

Process Lasso is the right choice for Windows users who want process priorities, persistent settings and power behavior managed by rules, with ProBalance as a practical response to high CPU loads. Its chief drawback is the free plan’s trial limits on several useful controls; look elsewhere if you need cross-platform support or only want a straightforward monitoring tool.
