Overview

RouteCabin is a school transport management service for operators and educational institutions that need to coordinate vehicles, students, fees, and attendance. Its strongest fit is a small or growing transport operation that wants those jobs alongside live tracking; it is less compelling if the need is tracking alone.

Drivers share location from an Android or iOS phone, so the tracking setup does not require dedicated vehicle GPS hardware. The trade-off is that vehicle updates depend on a smartphone rather than a separate tracking device.

Key features

The live fleet map is complemented by 90-day route replay, speed alerts, geofencing, and parent ETA notifications. Route planning and optimization, vehicle capacity rules, and advanced route constraints add practical tools for organizing pickups and monitoring trips, particularly for operators handling several vehicles.

RouteCabin also brings together fee vouchers, payment tracking, overdue-payment reminders, and attendance recorded by vehicle and shift. Student assignments, driver and vehicle records, document-expiry alerts, and vehicle expenses extend it beyond route monitoring into routine transport administration. This breadth can reduce the need to juggle separate records, but users seeking only location visibility may not need the additional management functions.

Parents can receive WhatsApp payment receipts, fee reminders, attendance alerts, and trip updates without downloading an app. The service also supports JazzCash and Easypaisa payments. REST API access for custom integrations is included on Enterprise, not on the lower plans.

RouteCabin uses HTTPS, cryptographic password hashes, encryption for third-party credentials at rest, and database-query-level separation of customer data. Customer databases and uploaded files are stored in France, within the European Union. These are relevant safeguards and a stated hosting location for organizations assessing data handling.

Pricing

The Free plan is free (billed Rs. 0 /mo) and covers up to 15 passengers, one vehicle, and two drivers. It includes live tracking, attendance, basic fee records, and email support. That cap makes it a narrow starting point for a very small operation, not a lasting fit once passenger or fleet numbers rise.

Starter costs 3000.00 PKR per month (billed Rs. 3,000 /mo), with up to 60 passengers and three vehicles. It adds fee vouchers, payment and defaulter tracking, driver records, and expenses to live tracking, with email support. It suits a small operator that needs more than basic fee records but can work within the vehicle and passenger ceilings.

Professional costs 6000.00 PKR per month (billed Rs. 6,000 /mo) and raises capacity to 300 passengers and 10 vehicles. WhatsApp messaging, route planning, expense tracking, profit-and-loss reports, and priority support make it the more complete operational tier. The step up is most justified when parent communications and financial reporting matter; smaller fleets may find Starter sufficient.

Enterprise costs 15000.00 PKR per month (billed Rs. 15,000 /mo), for up to 800 passengers and 25 vehicles. It adds multiple branches and campuses, custom branding, API access, and a named account manager. This tier fits larger or multi-site organizations that need integration and account-level support; those requirements are unlikely to justify its higher monthly price for a single small fleet.

Platforms

RouteCabin supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. The driver mobile app and CSV student-data import support field use and onboarding, while API access for custom integrations is reserved for Enterprise.

Who it's for

Independent transport operators, schools and colleges, and school districts are the stated audiences. Small services can begin on Free, while organizations should match their passenger and vehicle counts to the plan caps before relying on it as their main transport system. RouteCabin was founded in Lahore in 2018 by Siddique Ahmed.

Pros and cons

Pro: Phone-based location updates avoid the need for additional vehicle GPS hardware.
Pro: Tracking, fees, attendance, records, and parent messaging share one platform, useful for operators managing both trips and administration.
Pro: The Free plan offers a no-cost entry point, and paid tiers state clear passenger and vehicle limits.
Con: Free is capped at 15 passengers and one vehicle, limiting its usefulness beyond a very small operation.
Con: Custom API integrations are confined to Enterprise, so lower-tier customers cannot use that route for integration.
Con: Phone-based tracking avoids hardware costs but makes location reporting reliant on drivers' smartphones.

Alternatives

Choose School Bus Manager if a paid service with a free trial and capacity for up to 500 riders on its Lite plan better fits your needs; Lite is 990.00 USD per year, billed annually, plus a $199 one-time startup fee in the first year only. Schooliy is another paid option with a free trial and Android, API, iOS, and web platforms; its price is a custom quote based on the number of schools, buses, and students.

Consider AlphaRoute if you prefer to request a demo for pricing. BusPlanner offers custom pricing upon request and includes self-hosted and Windows platform options. EZRouting provides pricing on request through sales.

BusBoss is a paid alternative with an Express plan described for one user and one county GIS map; that plan excludes GPS hardware and cellular data service costs. RouteBot is another option if its free plan and Android, iOS, and web platforms are a better fit. Guardian Route uses a monthly organization subscription priced according to fleet size after a demo.

Verdict

RouteCabin is a sensible choice for school transport operators and institutions that want phone-based fleet tracking alongside fees, attendance, and parent updates. Its low-cost entry plans and broader Professional feature set suit small and midsize operations, but the Free cap is tight and Enterprise is required for API access. Look elsewhere if you need a different integration tier or a tracking-only service.
