Overview

Textmagic is a business messaging platform for SMS and email campaigns, automated notifications, and two-way conversations. It is best suited to businesses that need recurring customer or staff messaging, especially when teams need shared access to replies or automated workflows. It brings campaigns and conversations together, but its channel restrictions and destination-based charges make it a poor fit for every messaging program.

Key features

Mass texting, scheduled campaigns, email campaigns, workflow automation, segmentation, inbound messaging, MMS, and delivery reporting cover both planned outreach and ongoing conversations. The shared inbox is useful when several people need visibility into replies; automation can support routine tasks such as appointment reminders, delivery updates, staff alerts, payment reminders, and lead follow-up. Textmagic does not support simultaneous SMS and email campaigns, so teams coordinating a single cross-channel send will need another approach.

A REST API for SMS and email and an MCP connector for compatible AI assistants and coding tools give technical teams ways to connect messaging to their workflows. Integrations include HubSpot, Shopify, WooCommerce, and Zapier, with BYOC connections to Twilio, Vonage, Sinch, and Bandwidth. Textmagic says it is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, and conducts annual external penetration testing. Its consent records and automatic opt-out enforcement support permission-based messaging; applicable US messaging requires 10DLC brand and campaign registration.

The iOS and Android apps support SMS conversations and contact management, while advanced features are available in the web app. Textmagic also lists email and phone support numbers for the US, UK, Australia, and Estonia. Its channel limitations matter: it has no shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp or social messaging, or virtual numbers for OTP delivery.

Pricing

Textmagic has no free plan, but its trial includes full feature access, requires no credit card, and lasts up to 30 days. The Essential plan is 0.05 USD per month, billed 100% prepaid. Rates vary by destination country, and each SMS part supports 160 plain-text characters. That makes destination and message length important cost considerations for teams sending at volume.

Essential (pay-as-you-go) is 0.00 USD per free, with prepaid credits, no monthly minimum, and unused credit that never expires. US SMS costs $0.049 per message, inbound SMS is free, and a texting number costs extra. After business domain verification, 10,000 emails are included free; additional email costs $0.003 per email. This option suits intermittent senders who want to avoid a monthly minimum, but the included email allowance and extra number charge still shape the total cost.

Professional has custom pricing, with credits rolling over for up to 2 months. It may suit teams that need a different plan structure, but the rollover window is worth weighing against the pay-as-you-go credits that never expire.

Platforms

Textmagic is available on web, iOS, Android, and through its API. Mobile apps handle SMS conversations and contact management, but teams needing advanced features should plan to use the web app.

Who it's for

Textmagic is a strong fit for businesses coordinating recurring, permission-based customer or staff messages, particularly when shared conversation visibility, automation, or an API connection matters. It is less suitable for organizations that depend on shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp or social messaging, simultaneous SMS-and-email campaigns, or virtual numbers for OTP delivery.

Pros and cons

Pros: Campaigns, automation, inbound messaging, and a shared inbox cover more than one-way bulk texting.
Pros: REST API, MCP connector, and integrations with HubSpot, Shopify, WooCommerce, and Zapier support workflow connections.
Pros: Pay-as-you-go credits do not expire, and the trial provides full feature access without a credit card.
Cons: Destination-sensitive rates and prepaid billing make spend less predictable for international or high-volume campaigns.
Cons: Essential's 160-character plain-text SMS part limit can affect message length and costs.
Cons: No shortcodes, outbound WhatsApp or social messaging, simultaneous SMS and email campaigns, or OTP virtual numbers limits channel flexibility.

Alternatives

Textedly is worth considering for teams that want a free plan; its Basic plan costs 29.00 USD per month, with 500 messages monthly on monthly billing or 600 on annual billing, and annual billing includes 20% more messages per month.

Text Request may suit teams that want its Enterprise plan, priced at 575.00 USD per month with 20,000 included texts, 10 dashboards, and additional texts at $0.032.

SendHub is an option for teams whose needs align with its Lite plan: 19.00 USD per month for 500 SMS per month, 50 maximum recipients per SMS, 100 voice minutes, unlimited keywords, API integration, and inbound messaging.

Sinch Engage is another option for teams comparing plans that specify monthly SMS allowances and user counts, including Basics at 3,000 SMS per month for one user and Conversations at 10,000 SMS per month for two users; both have custom pricing.

Bird Verify is an alternative for API or web-based verification: its Verify plan has no separate verification fee, though channel message charges apply.

MessageDesk may fit teams seeking unlimited one-to-one SMS, but its Team (yearly) plan is 29.00 USD per user per month, billed annually, with a three-user minimum.

SMSGlobal API is an alternative for API- and web-based pay-as-you-go messaging, with rates that decrease as single-transaction volume grows.

Apptoto may suit appointment-focused workflows; its plan starts at 30.00 USD per month, with each additional user costing $10.

Verdict

Choose Textmagic if your business needs recurring SMS and email communication, shared visibility into conversations, and automation in one platform. Its strongest case is the combination of campaign tools, inbox, and integrations; look elsewhere if your messaging depends on excluded channels or requires more predictable destination-based costs.
