Overview

WPS PDF Editor brings document editing and office-suite workflows together for individuals and teams who work across devices. Its broad toolkit is appealing, but the plan terms deserve a close look: Pro+ is billed annually, AI use is limited, and the sharing plan requires at least two users.

Key features

WPS handles reading, text editing, annotation, conversion, compression, and signing, alongside OCR. Page tools combine files, split documents, reorder pages, and insert or delete pages, making it a capable option for routine document cleanup as well as direct edits.

WPS AI can summarize PDFs, explain selected passages, translate text or full documents, and answer questions about a file. That range is useful for working through dense material, but Pro+ includes essential AI tools with usage limits, so it is not a promise of unlimited AI assistance.

The editor detects fillable fields, supports form completion and creation, and adds electronic signatures. Security controls include encryption, privacy protection, copy, print, and editing restrictions, watermarks, and digital signatures. WPS says files are processed locally unless the user chooses to upload them to the cloud, a meaningful option for users handling sensitive documents.

Cloud sync connects supported devices, with storage that varies by plan. WPS PDF also works alongside Writer, Spreadsheet, and Presentation, and WPS Office supports Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint formats, including .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx. That integration suits people moving between PDFs and office files without switching suites.

Pricing

WPS uses a freemium model, with a free plan and a 3-day trial. WPS Standard has custom pricing and includes 1 GB of cloud storage, 47 file formats, and 46 languages. It is the lower-commitment option, but its storage allowance is well below Pro+ and the plan does not describe the same full PDF editing and conversion package.

WPS Pro+ is priced at 5.83 USD per year, billed $69.99/Year. It includes full PDF editing and conversion, unlimited templates, advanced text recognition, full electronic signature, 20 GB of cloud storage, essential AI tools with usage limits, and no advertising. The larger storage and fuller PDF toolkit make it the clearer fit for regular users, though the annual billing term and capped AI use matter more than the monthly-style price note suggests.

WPS Pro+ Sharing Plan is priced at 3.00 USD per year, billed $41.99/Year/user, with a stated 40% saving. Two users are required at minimum; each member gets Pro+ benefits and 20 GB private cloud storage, and members can be added or removed at any time. The per-user rate is relevant for small teams, but a solo buyer cannot take the plan at that price.

Platforms

WPS PDF supports web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and a Chrome extension. The extension can read, edit, fill, convert, and AI-chat with PDFs in a browser. This spread suits people who need to move between desktop, mobile, and browser workflows; cloud synchronization is available across devices.

Who it's for

WPS PDF is a strong fit for people who regularly edit PDFs, handle forms, and move between PDF and office documents across several platforms. Its local-processing approach may also suit users who prefer not to upload files unless needed. Occasional users with modest storage needs may find the free plan enough, while users who need unlimited AI use or a low-cost solo subscription should weigh the plan limits before committing.

Pros and cons

Pro: Editing, conversion, OCR, page management, forms, and signatures sit in one toolkit, reducing the need for separate PDF utilities.
Pro: Broad platform support and office-suite integration help users carry document work across devices and formats.
Pro: Local processing by default gives users an alternative to cloud upload for file handling.
Con: Pro+ AI tools have usage limits, which constrains the value for users relying on frequent AI assistance.
Con: Pro+ is billed annually, and the sharing plan's two-user minimum rules it out for solo buyers seeking its per-user price.

Alternatives

For a wider set of choices, browse PDF editors. Choose ONLYOFFICE PDF Editor if you want a freemium option that also supports self-hosted deployments and API access. Smallpdf is another freemium alternative, with a 7-day free trial and a free plan that includes 30+ tools.

LightPDF offers a free plan, but its stated limits include web-only access, a 10 MB maximum file size, and five cloud files for one year. Choose paid Foxit PDF Editor if you prefer a paid product with an annual subscription and 300 AI credits per month. PDF Candy has a free web-and-desktop plan, though it comes with page and hourly restrictions, no batch processing, and limited file size.

PDFgear is a free alternative whose online editor allows PDFs up to 100 MB. Sejda PDF Editor offers web and desktop options, including a Web Week Pass for seven days of web access without desktop access. KDAN PDF is available on mobile and desktop platforms and has a free plan for viewing, annotating, taking notes, handwriting, and creating signatures.

Verdict

Choose WPS PDF Editor if you want a cross-platform PDF toolkit that pairs editing, page management, forms, AI assistance, and office-suite workflows. Its breadth and local processing are the strongest reasons to choose it; annual billing, limited AI usage, and the sharing plan's two-user minimum are the clearest reasons to look elsewhere.
