Overview

Tebex combines web and in-game stores with checkout for items, subscriptions, season passes, and DLC. It supports more than 130 local and global payment methods and acts as Merchant of Record, calculating, collecting, and remitting sales tax. Fraud detection, chargeback handling, and end-to-end dispute management are included, as are PCI, GDPR, and sanctions compliance.

Bringing these functions together can spare a game business from coordinating separate storefront, payment, tax, and dispute services. In return, Tebex takes a percentage of sales even on its free plan. It cannot support projects selling physical goods or providing marketplace services.

Key features

Storefronts and integrations

Developers can use Webstore Builder, Headless API, or Checkout API integrations. Official game server plugins cover Minecraft, Hytale, Rust, ARK, and FiveM, which also has a built-in native integration. Those options make Tebex a natural candidate for operators in supported game communities. Checkout API access requires prior compliance-team approval and is unavailable to some UGC creators, including FiveM and RedM creators, so it is not a dependable route for every project.

Payments and administration

With more than 130 local and global payment methods, Tebex offers reach across varied buyer preferences. Its Merchant of Record service handles sales-tax calculation, collection, and remittance, while fraud detection and chargeback and dispute handling reduce the operational burden on sellers. Tebex also advertises 24/7 help for payment, integration, and technical questions. These services are most valuable to creators who would otherwise need to manage those responsibilities themselves.

Pricing

Tebex has a free Starter plan and paid Plus options. New stores receive a 90-day Plus trial without entering payment details. Both monthly plans retain a platform fee, so the subscription buys storefront customization rather than removing the sales charge.

Starter: £0 monthly fee, a 5% platform fee for most games or 15% for FiveM, and unlimited packages. It suits creators who want to start without a fixed subscription, but the transaction fee remains.
Plus: £12.49/mo, with the same game-dependent platform fee and unlimited packages. It adds custom templates, HTML/CSS editing, and custom domain support, making it the better fit for operators who need more control over their store's presentation and domain.
Plus prepaid — 3 months: £33.72 upfront for 3 months, stated as 15% savings versus monthly.
Plus prepaid — 6 months: £63.70 upfront for 6 months, stated as 15% savings versus monthly.
Plus prepaid — 12 months: £119.90 upfront for 12 months, stated as 20% savings versus monthly.

The prepaid options lower the stated cost against monthly billing but commit the buyer for the selected term. The free plan has no package cap, though FiveM sellers face a 15% fee rather than the 5% charged for most games; that difference can make the fee structure a decisive consideration.

Platforms

Tebex supports webstores, APIs, and extensions. It also supports subscription billing and digital delivery, offers multi-channel checkout, and pays out in 9 currencies. These capabilities suit digital game sales across storefront and integration workflows, rather than physical-product or marketplace businesses.

Who it's for

Tebex is strongest for game-server operators and studios selling digital goods, especially those using its supported game integrations or needing a Merchant of Record to handle tax and disputes. It is less suitable for businesses selling physical goods, running a marketplace, or relying on Checkout API access that may not be approved. FiveM creators should weigh the 15% platform fee particularly carefully.

Pros and cons

Pro: Storefronts, payment processing, tax handling, fraud detection, and dispute management come together, reducing the need to assemble separate services.
Pro: Starter includes unlimited packages, and the 90-day Plus trial needs no payment details.
Pro: Official plugins cover Minecraft, Hytale, Rust, ARK, and FiveM, with a native FiveM integration as well.
Con: A 5% fee for most games and 15% for FiveM applies even on Starter.
Con: Checkout API requires compliance approval and is unavailable to some UGC creators, limiting that integration path for affected projects.
Con: Physical-goods sellers and marketplace operators cannot use Tebex.

Alternatives

Merchant of Record Software and Game Monetization Software are useful starting points for comparing services by category.

Polar is worth considering for a broader platform mix, including Android and iOS, or if its 5% + 50¢ per-transaction Starter pricing and $20/month Pro plan better suit the business.
Coda offers a free plan with personal documents without size or object limits, while shared documents are capped at 50 objects and 1,000 table rows.
Aquadratic offers a free platform plan billed at 7% per transaction, with processor fees possibly applying and no monthly fee or per-transaction minimums.
Fungies offers a free-forever plan billed at 5% + 50¢ per sale, with no monthly fee, setup cost, or per-seat charge and unlimited products, plans, and assets.
Lemon Squeezy offers ecommerce with no monthly charge, applying transaction fees when sales are generated.
FastSpring uses custom revenue-sharing pricing based on transaction volume and type, with no minimum transaction volume.
Breeze is another paid option for API, iOS, and web.
Freemius charges 3.8% + 50¢ per transaction plus gateway fees, with no setup or monthly fees.

Verdict

Choose Tebex if you run a game server or studio selling digital goods and want game integrations, storefronts, tax handling, and dispute administration in one service. Its free Starter plan and 90-day Plus trial lower the barrier to starting, but the platform fee applies to sales regardless of plan. Look elsewhere if the 15% FiveM fee, Checkout API eligibility limits, or inability to sell physical goods and operate a marketplace conflicts with your business.
