Overview

Watermarkly is a browser-based photo watermarking service with companion desktop and mobile apps. It is best suited to people who need to brand large batches and reuse the same marks across devices; the free tier is useful for trying batch processing, but it adds Watermarkly’s logo.

Its strongest case is breadth: alongside photo watermarking, Watermarkly brings together tools for PDFs, videos, and common image edits. The trade-off is that free exports carry the service’s branding, so regular professional use points toward a paid plan.

Key features

Photo batches can contain up to 50,000 images, a generous ceiling for photographers, shops, or teams processing a large archive. Watermarks can combine text and logos, and saved templates help keep recurring work consistent. A watermark can scale automatically to image orientation and size, or be positioned manually on each photo; automatic placement saves effort, while per-image positioning offers more control at the cost of additional work.

The editor offers over 900 fonts, 90 colors and gradients, and 36 visual effects. That gives users substantial room to shape a mark without limiting the tool to a single style. Images can also be imported from Google Drive, Google Photos, and Dropbox.

Watermarkly says photo files are processed in the browser and are not stored on or accessed from its servers. That may suit users who prefer not to send photo files to a service’s servers. Saved templates synchronize across desktop, laptop, and mobile devices, supporting repeat work across a mix of devices.

The site also provides tools for watermarking PDFs and videos, resizing, cropping, compressing, blurring, removing backgrounds, and converting images. The purchased iOS app covers photos, PDFs, and videos; the Android app covers photos and PDFs. Windows and Mac desktop apps cover photo and video watermarking. This broader set of tools is useful if those formats and edits are part of the same workflow, though photo watermarking is the most fully described capability.

Pricing

Free: Free. It includes free batch processing, but adds a Watermarkly logo. It is suitable for evaluating the workflow or for work where that branding is acceptable, not for clean, client-ready exports.

1-Year Access: 19.95 USD per year, billed $19.95 paid annually. It includes full access to all tools, removes the Watermarkly logo, and covers up to 10 devices. It does not renew automatically and includes a 30-day money-back guarantee. This is the lower-cost paid choice for a year of logo-free use across multiple devices.

Permanent Access: 39.95 USD per once, a one-time fee rather than a subscription. It includes lifetime access to all tools, no Watermarkly logo, and up to 10 devices, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. It costs more upfront but avoids another annual payment for users who expect to keep using the tools.

Both paid plans remove the main export restriction of the free tier and include all tools, so the choice is primarily between one year of access and lifetime access. The pricing page says listed prices include applicable taxes and accepts major credit cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal, and bank transfers.

The separate Blur API detects and blurs faces and license plates at $0.01 per request, with a free 7-day trial through AWS Marketplace. It is a distinct option for developers needing that specific processing capability, rather than a substitute for the consumer watermarking plans.

Platforms

Watermarkly supports web, Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. The breadth makes it a plausible fit for mixed-device workflows, while the specific app coverage differs: iOS includes photo, PDF, and video watermarking; Android includes photo and PDF watermarking; Windows and Mac include photo and video watermarking.

Who it's for

Watermarkly suits photographers, small businesses, and teams that need batch photo branding, saved templates, and access across several devices. The 50,000-image batch ceiling is particularly relevant for large collections, while the no-renewal annual plan and one-time lifetime plan give buyers alternatives to automatic subscription renewal. It is a weaker fit for anyone who needs free, logo-free exports or whose main need falls outside the photo tools described.

Pros and cons

Pros: Large batch capacity. A stated maximum of 50,000 images accommodates substantial photo jobs.
Pros: Flexible watermark design. Text, logos, combined marks, extensive font and color choices, and manual or automatic placement support varied branding needs.
Pros: Multiple platforms and tools. Desktop and mobile apps extend the workflow, and the site includes PDF, video, and image utilities.
Pros: Paid access covers up to 10 devices. Both paid plans include all tools and remove Watermarkly branding.
Cons: Free processing adds Watermarkly’s logo. Users needing unbranded outputs must pay.
Cons: Android app coverage is narrower than iOS. The Android app handles photos and PDFs, while the iOS app also covers videos.

Alternatives

Photo Watermarking Software is a useful place to compare more options if Watermarkly’s logo-free paid plans or broad toolset are not the right fit.

eZy Watermark is worth considering for users who want a mobile-capable freemium option and whose needs align with its watermark templates, 300+ fonts, and high-resolution watermark downloads.

Visual Watermark is another paid option with a free plan and trial; its 1-Year Access is 19.95 USD per year for 10 devices, so it merits comparison with Watermarkly’s annual plan.

PictStamp is an alternative for readers looking for a free option on iOS or Mac.

Watermark Soft may suit users seeking monthly access, unlimited files per batch, and priority support in its Monthly plan.

DoWatermark is a browser-based alternative with a free batch limit of 3 images and saved presets, which may suit smaller jobs.

iWatermark is another freemium option for users who want to compare a product available across mobile and desktop platforms.

Watermark Maker may fit mobile users who want social export presets and a one-time lifetime plan.

Overlay Studio is a free option for users whose batches fit its 25-image limit, with a supporter code raising that limit.

Verdict

Choose Watermarkly if you need high-volume photo watermarking, reusable templates, and a route to logo-free use across up to 10 devices. Its free plan is constrained by branding, but the paid plans are clear choices between annual access without automatic renewal and a one-time lifetime purchase. Look elsewhere if free, unbranded output is essential or if a narrower mobile-focused tool better matches your workflow.
