Facebook To Roll Out Timeline For Pages In Upcoming Weeks

After introducing Timeline feature for all profiles, Facebook is now all set to release this feature for pages. As we reported earlier this month, Facebook was planning to launch the Timeline update for brands and fan pages in a conference which was scheduled on 29th February.

So today, in same conference, Facebook made this announcement that it will now start rolling Timeline update for all pages on this social networking website gradually. At first, this update will be a voluntary one but later it will be made compulsory for all the pages. Today, Facebook also revealed first look of Timeline for pages and we must say those pages were looking awesome. You can check out some of such pages, which have already adapted Facebook Timeline for their brand pages on Facebook’s own page for introducing Timeline feature.


Facebook announced Timeline feature, a feature which will bring radical changes to brand pages in September. But after that company did not give any specific time-bound deadline stating when it will start rolling out the update for brand pages.  In December, when company rolled out this feature for all users, initially, an insider to Facebook let slip that brands were not a part of this roll-out. But now it seems that company has given a second thought to it, as now you can get a whole new look for your page on Facebook.

Timeline converted profiles for brands will have some extra features compared to old profile. This new Timeline feature will let brands outline their corporate history plus companies will be able to do “many more things than just liking”.


Meanwhile to counter Facebook’s growing influence, companies like Google and Twitter released their own version of brand pages for Google plus and Twitter respectively, but to much of their dismay, Facebook still kept ruling the market when it came to socializing a brand. Also, now a user can send private messages to a ‘Page’ and replies will be stored in inbox.

Now we are interested in looking how all the brands welcome this change. We are not very convinced as last time when company rolled-out Timeline for users, very few users liked it. Only time will tell, where this social juggernaut will go! The last date for the old design is 30th March 2012.
