Google schedules July 24 event, Android 4.3 and Nexus 2 7” announcement expected

Google has sent out invites for its next event which will happen on July 24 at 19:00 GMT in San Francisco. The Invite simply read “Please join us for breakfast with Sundar Pichai.” Pichai is the VP of Android and Chrome and the event is likely to discuss newer developments in both these areas. The event will also be streamed live on YouTube for those who cannot attend it in person.

Google event

Android 4.3 is likely to be officially revealed in the event. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is available in the Google Play Store edition of Samsung Galaxy S4. It is not the final or official build but the early reviewers said that they didn’t find much newer stuff as compared to the previous version of Android. There are many unofficial APKs available for the camera and gallery of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which were leaked some time ago.

Android 4.3 was rumored to be revealed at Google I/O this year, but that didn’t happen so it is hoped that the July 24 event will bring the third and hopefully final version of Jelly Bean with it. Moreover, it is also suggested that the event might bring the announcement of second-generation Nexus 7 tablet. The tablet is believed to be manufactured by Asus, which was also responsible for the first ever Nexus 7 tablet as well.

Sundar Pichai

The Nexus 7 successor tablet is rumored to come with a 7 inch Full HD display, 2 GB of RAM, Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 5 MP rear camera and is expected to run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Some other reports are also suggesting that Google might get Motorola to show off its new Moto X Smartphone at the July 24 event. We do not think it is likely to happen as the event is centered on boss Sundar Pichai’s work areas and there wasn’t any hint of Motorola in it.

In related news, the pricing of the second generation Nexus 7 tablet has been leaked and made its way to Android Central. According to the screenshot they acquired from retail inventory software, the Nexus 2 7 inch 16 GB will cost $229 while the Nexus 2 7 inch 32 GB will set you back $269. There are no other insights into the specifications or launch date except that it will be quad core, which is obvious.
