After the successful launch of Evo 4G and G2, HTC has rolled out another phone from its stable of smart phones. The thunderbolt is an apt name for the device and provides a sense of déjà vu as it reminds of the Verizon’s commercial of 4G LTE which has a guy brandishing a lightning bolt like Zeus. The HTC Thunderbolt provides all the features of Evo and G2 and does even more.

It have Qualcomm MSM8655 1GHz processor, Qualcomm MDM9600 chipset running Android 2.2, RAM size is 768 MB which is large enough to support the multimedia applications and also has support for 32GB expandable Micro SD memory card which will be very useful for those music and movie addicts. It has the same 800×600 resolution as Droid and Nexus one. Coupled with the fact that it has 4.3” WVGA user interface, Dolby and SRS surround sound feature, 720p HD video recording it is virtually a pocket sized home theatre at the user’s disposal which allows one to watch HD format video on HDTV using HDMI cable. There is also a utility feature of Built in kick stand for media viewing

Additionally there is fully integrated Skype mobile experience, and it is the first phone to introduce this feature and DLNA streaming multimedia support. So the Wi-Fi support is now redundant.  These when combined with the 8MP camera with autofocus and 1.3MP front facing camera will provide another dimension to Net surfing. The award-winning user interface, HTC Sense, is also found on the Thunderbolt. The HTC Sense includes a “leap” thumbnail to switch between home and other screen panels, which improves multi-tasking, and also Friend Stream, which takes the contacts from Facebook, Twitter and Flickr and brings you updates in one place. This user interface also includes interactive widgets and a polite ringer.

Special features include Dual microphones with noise cancellation, Surround sound, Compass sensor, G-Sensor, Proximity sensor, Light sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, MicroUSB, FM radio, LTE SIM slot , TI audio DSP.

It supports LTE 700, CDMA EvDO revA networks and hence can support download speeds of 5 to 12 MBps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 MBps in 4G Mobile Broadband coverage area.

The only dampener may be the fact that the features are flush mounted on the cover rather than being embossed, that means they are more scratch prone.

Overall this is must have for those smart phone addicts with its smart new special features never seen before leveraging the 4G capability.
