Earlier this week, Nokia unveiled its biggest display Lumia 625 with 4.7 inch diagonal screen. The new rumors and leaked images reveal that it is working on a 6 inch phablet. Chinese technology publication ICTech has published an image of the front panel of a Nokia Lumia phablet on its Weibo account. The leak comes from a factory floor in China and shows a slim bezel with Nokia branding on top just below the earpiece.
The leaked image of the panel also shows a slot for a front facing camera and the sensor. The publication also said that Nokia has started the mass production of the device. Nothing more was revealed about the phablet, but it is expected that the phablet will be unveiled soon and will take on the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note and Mega series, Sony Xperia Z Ultra and rumored HTC phablet.
In May, another related shaky and blurry image popped up for a similar big looking Nokia Lumia device along with Sony Togari, now officially revealed as a Xperia Z Ultra. The sources predicted that the Nokia Lumia device will bear the model number 1030, which is unexpected since 1020 is its recently released current flagship. It is not expected that Nokia will replace its current flagship with a phablet so soon and that too with a model number higher than its current flagship. So take everything with a pinch of salt.
It is also possible that Nokia might be readying its phablet for the expected Windows Phone GDR3 update which will bring more columns of tiles to its Windows Phone 8. The update is expected to provide manufacturers with the option of putting Full HD display in their upcoming phones. Both its expected features are suitable for larger phablet inspired Smartphones. A Financial Times report earlier added that Nokia will bring a number of flagships including a supersized tablet phone which will have advanced specifications as compared to Samsung Galaxy Note.
Nokia earlier announced its company flagship Nokia Lumia 1020 with a whopping 41 MP camera and its largest Smartphone Lumia 625 with a 4.7 inch display. Both of the above devices come with the Nokia Amber update which also brings Bluetooth LE and FM Radio along with many other nifty features. Windows Phone GDR3 updates will raise the bar for the hardware specifications a notch higher and will allow Nokia to compete for its lost share to the Android and iOS devices.
