As promised by LG, it has announced Optimus G Pro for US which will be sold exclusively via AT&T telecom operator in the country. The press release issued by AT&T says that the LG Optimus G Pro will be available from May 10th for US $199.99 with the usual two-year contract. There is also an option to return your old phone (up to 3 years old) and get $100+ discount in the form of credit. The pre-orders starts from May 3rd.

AT&T LG Optimus G Pro

Jeff Bradley, the senior vice-president of Devices at AT&T said, “The LG Optimus G Pro gives AT&T customers the ability to create and share rich content easily. There’s no better place to experience that content than exclusively on our 4G LTE network, the nation’s fastest.”

The LG Optimus G Pro is a phablet which will compete with the likes of Galaxy Note 2 and upcoming Mega family devices from Samsung. LG’s offering is better in terms of screen resolution, camera MP rating and internal memory but it does not offer the alternative to Samsung’s S Pen that comes with its phablet Galaxy Note 2. The USP of the device is LG’s own bundled solutions with this device which includes:

  • QSlide 2.0: Allows two app windows to be overlaid on an open application
  • QuickMemo: Allows taking screenshots and adding notes, drawings or scribbling on top of it
  • VuTalk: Allows to both draw and share notes in real time with compatible devices
  • Dual Recording: Allows capturing from both rear and front camera simultaneously

Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy S4 also offers similar solution of its own with Multi Window, Dual Camera, Air View etc. It remains to be seen whether the phablet from LG will be able to bag the title for the ‘Phablet of the Year’ this year or not as Samsung will most probably release its phablet flagship Galaxy Note 3 at IFA 2013 in the second half of the year.
