LG Optimus Sol – Tech specs, Impressions, Availability and Price

Leaked road map of LG stated LG Victor to be announced some where now and that’s what happened. LG Optimus Sol (Sol means Sun) also called as LG Victor (according to roadmap) has been officially announced by LG today. Initially this phone appeared in a video too and that give a brief look at the phone. This new device makes an new addition to the LG Optimus family.

LG Optimus Sol is powered by 1GHz CPU with MSM8255 chipset and along side with 512MB of RAM. This is almost every smartphone’s combo now and helps the most in performance of the phone. LG brings development in their display panel in every phone this phone and even the Optimus Black. Optimus Sol features Ultra AMOLED display sporting on 3.8inch screen and balanced with the resolution 480×800 pixels (WVGA). There’ 2GB ROM among which 150MB is available for the user to store his data.

Connectivity includes 2G, 3G as well as HSDPA where as other modes include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot and DLNA. It comes with Bluetooth 3.0 and like every phone there is no infrared port.

There are two camera’s the front and the rear for Optimus Sol. The front camera is VGA and ofcourse is used for video calling while the rear camera is 5MP. This rear camera clicks photos at resolution 2592х1944 which can also be included with secondary features like autofocus and geo-tagging. The worst part of the camera is  ‘NO FLASH’, yes you herd right there’s no LED Flash for the camera and that’s one of the drawback of the phone. Another weak point is the video recording on such a good 5MP camera video recording is just VGA @ 24fps.

Operating System

Obviously Gingerbread! Bringing a FROYO phone in market is no brainer today and that’s why Gingerbread is the way. Even the Optimus Sol supports Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and that’s must due to its 1GHz CPU and 512MB of RAM.

The phone is backed up by Li-Ion 1500mAh battery and there is no official info regarding the battery backup time.

The Verdict

LG Optimus Sol gets added in the list of mid end smart phones of today. Motorola Defy was competed with Samsung Galaxy Ace and now newly launched Defy+ gets competed with LG Optimus Sol. This phone is balanced but the weakest part is the camera but that’s ok if you are not much into photography.

Availibility and Pricing

In my opionin once the phone gets launched in India it will be priced withing the range of Rs.17,000 to Rs.22,000/-.It will be available in Europe from mid-September and later in Central and South America.
