The record

Purpose: Argus is a SMART monitoring daemon for Linux homelab systems that analyzes disk trends for early warning of failures.
SMART history: It collects SMART attributes every six hours and builds a rolling 180-day history.
Forecasts: Linear regression on SMART history forecasts when an attribute will reach its critical threshold.
Failure thresholds: Argus says its thresholds are calibrated using Backblaze real-world failure data rather than vendor defaults.
Temperature detection: Temperature anomaly detection uses z-scores and requires a score of at least 2.0 over 10 or more samples.
Notifications: An optional ntfy integration sends status-change alerts with priority routing.
Monitoring integrations: The Prometheus exporter exposes disk health, status, temperature, sector counts, forecasts, and overall status metrics for dashboards such as Grafana.
Enclosure support: Argus supports JMicron JMB576 pass-through for multi-bay DAS enclosures, including TerraMaster D5-300 and similar devices.
Privacy: The maker says Argus runs on the user's hardware, uses no cloud, and keeps data within the user's network.
Requirements: The listed requirements include a Linux host, Python 3.10+, and smartmontools; ntfy and Prometheus with Grafana are optional.
Setup: The maker's quick start says installation takes about 10 minutes using the install script and disk configuration.
License: Argus is distributed under the MIT License, which permits use, modification, and distribution subject to its terms.
Intended users: The maker describes Argus as a monitor for Linux homelab systems and recommends Debian 12 or Ubuntu 22.04 or later.
